And Carrie Fisher spoke like she was afraid that if she moved her mouth her dentures would fall out.
Amen

I saw it on Saturday nite 10:30 with my family. I was in my late teens when the first movies came out and saw 1-4 then the previews just did not enthrall me. I may need to go back and watch all of them now. We all loved it. Yes, it is eerily similar and safely played to what came before but it was compelling and nostalgic. I loudly exclaimed the junk was Millennial Falcon.
A few random thoughts:
1) Did anyone else catch the hand that appeared and touched R2-D2 before he re-awakened?
2) Is the timing at all possible for Rey to be Vaders?
3) I have to agree that there has to be more with Finn too just can't quite figure that one out have read Landau's perhaps but I am not sure
Amazingly I want to see it again I know I missed things
R2 activated when Rey entered the room...
That's the least subtle hint you can get. Let's see if they play it straight there or go deeper/throw a curve...
Any numbers for Star Wars yesterday. I know it won't be huge but still interested what their worst day looks like at this point
Fisher and Ford were miscast, in that parts were written for them which were somewhat inappropriate for their actual age and condition. Not that it's impossible to be a smuggler at 70 or a general at 65, but it strained credibility to see Han running around like a 35 year old. Which is probably why he hurt himself during filming.
Part of the reason is that the film is fast paced and it has few opportunities to slow down to the speed of elderly people. This is I think the same reason that BB-8 is there ... R2-D2 just couldn't keep up.
They could have adapted things once they saw Ford's actual condition, but i suppose in these FX laden pictures ... after the story boards and CG wire frames are laid down nobody wants to change anything.

Ford was injured because a door on the Falcon fell on his leg. It wasn't due to old age, it could have happened to anyone on the set. I know some 70 year olds who run marathons who would take offense to you saying that just because of age they couldn't do anything.
Also Fisher played a general. It isn't like she was in combat. The US has several generals righ not in their late 50s and 60s. Most 4 star generals are close to 60 if not over simply because of how long it takes to become a 4 star.

I think his point was they looked horribly old in there characters...I actually agreed.
Fisher was painful to watch and ford just doesn't have the same tools for the action guy anymore.
Just opinion
I agree... I thought Ford looked better than Carrie. I get that we all age, and at 64ish she's not going to look like she did at 19, but it was painful.
Hard livin' wrecks a person: Carrie Fisher is only 59. By all accounts, she's a nice person though - which is amazing considering her Hollywood blue-blood pedigree.
To say that they were "miscast" is a little nuts though. They ARE Leia & Han. People aren't as spry when the get older. This applies to everyone.
Early Christmas returns are 40-50 million (previous record was 27 million for Christmas Day).
Ummm...just to elaborate on a previous rumor...websites that track cast calls have Harrison ford appearing in episode 8...which disney and ford have said nothing to dispute and Kennedy actually confirmed in a roundabout way.
So it appears the next movie could have heavy amounts of backstory/flashbacks.
