In October I'll have a "mommy only" trip to SSR. Normally we stay in Congress Park. But since I'll be alone :cloud9: I thought being closer to the restaurants and main pool would be a change of pace.

For those who have stayed in The Springs, is there any building that you can recommend that will have me close to the Spa and main area?

Thanks!

Two buildings of the three at the Springs are close to where you want. They are room numbers 3501 - 3836 and 4101 - 4436. The 3501 building is probably the closest.

Wow! A mommy trip! I'm very jealous! We stayed in the Grandstand- and that was very nice too, with only a quick walk to the main area. It also has a quiet pool right outside the building. I think we were in 8000 something.
Enjoy!:thumbsup2

Thanks for that information. I'll see if I can get into the 3501 building when I check in. :cool1:

This idea of a "mommy" trip happened last year when I had plans to make the trip with my friend. At the last minute she had to cancel and DH couldn't get away. So I did my first ever "solo" trip and absolutely loved it. So now it's a yearly trip for me in October! I go to the Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP and whatever else I feel like doing! :cool1:

I've been wondering forever but too embarrassed to ask if all these "solo" trips were really solo or just a trip w/o kids/family? Does it not feel odd at all?

We were in room 4107, and loved it. The fountain in the pond was right outside our windows. One hint, when taking the bus, and if staying at the Springs, coming back from the parks, get off at the Paddock stop, and walk across the bridge. It takes less time to get home.

Ooohhh I love it!! Besides the F&W Festival do you do other parks or just relax at the resort? I desperately need to do something like this!!! I wonder what my husband would think about me leaving him behind for a few days and leaving him with a 3 year old and 6 month old !! :yay:

Last year when I went alone for the first time, I felt excited. I don't think at any time I felt odd, lonely, silly, foolish etc. at all. And dining alone wasn't bad at all. Actually, the servers seemed to pay more attention to me because I was alone! One of the servers at Tony's, was planning on meeting some of his friends at Epcot later that evening, and he invited me to come with them. They had stopped by for dinner and were seated across from me. We chatted some, and I thought that was very nice but declined none the less.

I can't begin to tell you how much I look forward to the trip each October now! :thumbsup2

Thanks for that tip. You're the second person who mentioned going over the bridge. ;)

I do go to the parks and relax. Usually I'll go to the MK along with Epcot. AK and HS I skip. I relax alot. A typical day for me alone is waking around 6 a.m. (I am an early riser; can't help it) having coffee on the balcony and watching the world rise. Then I always plan the MK on the early entry morning so I dress and hit the bus for the park. Around 11 a.m. I've done all I want to do so I go back and hit the pool until I can't stand it anymore. :rotfl: Go up and shower and depending on the time, either nap or head back out. I always make ADR's in the vacinity of where I think I'll be. But what's nice is that I do all this at my own pace and if I feel like going to a park I go; if I feel like spending ALL day at the pool I do that also!! :thumbsup2

When the time comes where you're comfortable leaving the children and DH home, you should try it. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves WDW.

When the time comes??!! HA! Oh its here for me...just probably not for my husband!! I can just imagine the look on his face if i were to tell him that I'm splitting for a solo trip to WDW for an extended weekend! :scared1:

I actually would do it in a heart beat (and I know DH would roll his eyes and just go along with it) but ticket prices are soooo expensive right now! I'm going to keep my eye on the tickets and if I can get over there for a decent amount i just might do a solo trip!

I'll let all of you fellow mommies know and maybe we can make something of it!! ***has anyone seen the happy face logo of a bunch of female happy faces getting massages or mani/pedis?? :goodvibes

At this point anything other than this :laundy: would seem like a day at the spa! hehehehe

I waited and waited before I picked up my air fare. While I didn't get a great fare, it was still one of the lowest I had seen for the dates I wanted.

Well I'll be there October 15-19th if you should so get the urge! :) I'm ready now...

Well guess what Ms. WDW??? Of all things that could happen today my DH called on his way home from work and told me that he has so much vacation time that he's starting to burn vacation time. He said that he wants to take a work week to be here at home and randomly said "if there's some where you want to go to get away and have a break from the kiddos start planning it" :) What?? Coincidince??? Wow!

Soooo, I started thinking about a solo mommy trip to WDW. When I mentioned WDW he said "remember how I have that Jet Blue credit? Its going to expire soon if its not used."

I looked on line at WDW and found that they are having the first ever Expedition Everest Adventure Race Sept 27th (I race....very slowly now courtesy of kids) so I think I might be taking a solo trip too!! Race registration is still open, I already found my flights (havent booked yet), and first thing tomorrow morning I'll be calling Member Services!! Cross your fingers!

Excellent!! Talk about timing......:thumbsup2 You'll love it!!

Let me know how you make out! Now where will you stay?

All thats left is SSR sooooo SSR it be pirate: aarg!

Now i mentioned the solo trip and EE adventure race to my mother and sister and both of them gave me "that" look so I opened the invite to them! I'm a sucker but at least I wont be pushing around strollers, changing diapers, and revolving the trip around nap and bed times!! :rotfl:

OMG you're such a sucker!!! :rotfl: I'll let you in on a little secret; my friend wants to come with me sooooo badly and I had to tell a tiny little fib. I told her "DH was planning on joining me". Now, here's my rational for fibbing. First of all, she doesn't like the parks all that much and I do. I've vacationed with her many times before, but we had our DS's with us and that was fine. But when there aren't any kids, and she "doesn't" have to go into the parks, she complains about the "price of the passes" and I feel bad. Secondly, I'm the type of person that will put the wants of someone else before what I really want to do and to be quite honest, I don't want to have to do that on this trip. If I want to spend the entire day at the MK then I will. If I want to veg at the pool for the afternoon then go into a park, I will. Understand??

I'm staying at SSR also for this trip. I usually stay over at the Boardwalk but I got "greedy" and wanted a 1BR for myself. I waited too long to reserve at the BW and could only get a studio. So I went with SSR and got my 1BR. I must have my jacuzzi in the evenings with a "bath ball" from Basin!!! They don't work well home in a plain old bathtub!!

Where do you live???

Yeah, I get it!! Funny enough every time I've gone to WDW everyone just follows my lead because they know that I know that place inside and out!

With that said, I'm thinking that this trip I dont want to do the parks...maybe a day but thats it. I've never really had a relaxing trip to The World. i would love to chill at the pools, pool hop, try different restaurants, exercise at the gym, read a book/magazine, watch the sunrise from the balcony....and on and on.

Even though I've shared the news with a few people I wouldnt be surprised if it still turned in to a solo trip because my mom is a flake in general and my sister is busy with work.

I'll keep you posted!

As for where I live, clear across the country from you! You're in NY and I'm in SoCal! Ever make it to DL?
