We will be spending 8 nights at the world in early August. Our cast includes: Myself (40 something Disney addict), My wife (40 something who puts up with an addict), my 14 year old daughter and her two 14 year old girlfriends. (They all turn 15 during August).

We have stayed at OKW, SSR, BWV and AKV. We did enjoy them all. OKW rooms are huge, walk to downtown from SSR, BWV-location, location, location and AKV-awesome theming!

My daughter wants to do a split stay. 4 nights in each location. We will get a 2 BDR or 1 BDR (depending on where we stay).

Looking for some advice on where you would stay (taking into account my cast of characters)? Would you do a split stay or choose one resort?

Any help in deciding will be greatly appreciated:surfweb:

Well, you might want to try out BLT, if you think the girls will like going to the MK by themselves.

We love the CR and BLT. The arcade there is great and with the monorail, you have easy access to the other monorail resorts for variety.

Plus, the 1 bedrooms do sleep five (with 2 bathrooms) and would save on points over the 2 bedrooms elsewhere.

You could then split with either BWV or BCV (to give you walking ability to Epcot and HS) or AKV, for the theming and a more relaxed feel (and another 1 bedroom with 2 baths that sleeps 5).

We are staying at BCV for 2 nights and BLT for 4 next summer so we can walk to 3 of the 4 parks.

Good luck!

We are doing our first split stay next summer. 4 nights at BCV and 4 nights at Vero. We love BCV for the location and SAB. This will be our first trip to Vero. The ocean is calling me :cool2:

three teens!! definately a two bedroom, I wouldn't even consider a 1 bedroom. BLT would be great, they could do MK by them selves, and even Epcot via Monorail.

But honestly, all the resorts would be great, OKW would be last on my list. SSR would be right up there as they could walk in and out of DTD.

I wouldn't do a split stay, maybe just my kids, but girls can be slobs!! Not dirty just messy and they come with so much "stuff", i would hate to have to pack up and move.

A split stays work for us, if you can put 3 or 4 days in a less point IE over a weekend. It can really save points.
If you go sund - thur to say BLT and thur through sun at SSR, or BW (non pref) you can save a ton of points. by using the higher points nights (weekend ) at a resort costing sometimes 15- 25 points a night. Depending on how over/under points you are at.

I love split stays, as long as I am there at least a week. To me it feels like 2 vacations:cool1: I think with 3 teenage girls I would definatly have one half be at one of the Epcot resorts. There is so much there to do, asrcades, ice cream parlors and the Boardwalk activities, The other half I would try BLT for easy access to Magic Kingdom, unless they are animal lovers and would like a couple days at AKV. There is also SSR with easy access to Downtown Disney.

You can't go wrong. They will have a great time. After all, They are in DISNEY WORLD.:banana::banana:

This is exactaly what we are thinking. I do not have enough points for a 2 BDR the entire stay. We were thinking at 1 BDR for part of the time at BLT or AKV. Then follow up the second part with a 2BDR at BCV. I have 2 more days to decide!:confused3

I feel like a kid in a candy store!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just booked my July 31-Aug 7 stay yesterday. My dh, dd and I will be at BWV (in a boardwalk view studio) from 7/31-8/5. Then, we will move over to a MK view studio at BLT from 8/5-8/7. We will probably take a cab the morning of the 5th, over to BLT. I hate having to wait until early evening to get my bags delivered to the next resort....huge pain.
I figure that's a good combination. We'll spend the first 5 days/nights at DHS and Epcot with some time at AK. Then, we'll spend most of the time at MK once we get to BLT.

We will be there around the same time as you! We will be in a BCV studio July 30th and 31st, and then in a 1 bedroom SV room at BLT from the 1st through the 5th!

I can't wait!!! We rent a car so getting to and from the other parks won't be a big deal but we love the MK and usually end up there almost every day--even if its just DH and I walking back at night to just walk around.

Thanks for some great feedback. We have decided on Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Villas. Now we just need to decide which resort to do first BVC or AKV. Also, which day do you think is better to change resorts-Friday, Saturday or Sunday?

Congratulations! IMO, I would think Fri or Sat, only because those are weekends and there are many members who don't stay over the weekends because of the high point costs.

Excellent choice! I think those girls are going to have a blast!

We are doing a split stay in April - 3 nights at each, WL - BWV - AKV - VeroBeach. FUNFUNFUN!

Have a great trip!

We tried a split stay this year VB/OKW and while we enjoyed both resorts, we did not enjoy the split. We had to pack and unpack twice, which defeats the point of the whole vacation. Also, it made it too short a time at each resort. Of the 3 you mentionned, I would pick SSR or BWV. The excitement of DTD or the Boardwalk would provide plenty of excitement for some teenagers. We are going to AKV next, and while I enjoy the animals, am not sure if the family will enjoy it as much as I, and you really can't walk anywhere else.

We are split stay experts - check out my signature! We love split stays, as we get to swim in different pools, play with dining plans and different proximity to parks. We've stayed at all DVC resorts, except HHI and Vero, and it's great for the kids, as it keeps thing interesting. Plus, the luggage fairies are so good, that our bags just always magically appear at our next resort, which makes it easy-peasy!

Our next trip, we are still doing a split stay, but only at BLT for 1 night, and then AKV for 13 nights. It's our longest stay in one resort, so it will be interesting to see how it goes!

Good luck and happy split staying, Tiger

We have done split stays the last few trips. This year were staying at BLT with a weekend jaunt to Universal to check out Harry Potter and back to BCV. 12 nights total this summer. :cool1:

We have done split stays before and have had 0 issues EXCEPT last month. Disney and Magic Express lost our Luggage 5 times! Yes 5 times seems impossible but happened. Keep your luggage tag when you transfer and remember who u give it to at Bell Service's. When Disney finally found it after we transfered from AKL to Kidani (15 hours later at 3:30 in the morning) everything was fine, Disney did give us a $100.00 credit for our problems and replaced our deoderant shampoo etc and Member Service's has called me twice, once a week after we were home, to say how sorry they were.
The last time seems the Magic Express driver left our luggage at Terminal A when were departing from Terminal B, then yelled at my wife and told her to "fess up" that it was her fault he did it. He didn't have a very pleasent day after I was thru with him. Fortunately another DVC family seen our luggage, and took it to Disney Cruise Line Kiosk in the airport and left it there for us and then called our house to let us know where it was. We did call them back and as they tell the story they tried to tell the ME driver he was making a mistake but he wouldn't listen left our bags in the roadway at Terminal A.
Just Love DVC ppl.....whom ever they were we sure do appreciate it! Shawnpirate:
