We just returned from a magical six days in the world where we stayed at Coronado Springs. I am having serious withdrawals so I decided to do my first dining report. We ate at a ton of places and most were our first time. Let me start with a little about us.
My husband and I have been married for three years and have an almost two year old little boy who is definitely growing up Disney. My husband has two daughters from a previous marriage as well. He fell in love with Disney when his second was little. My son is raised on Disney (He is obsessed with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) and this was his second trip. This trip was technically my third trip although I was very young when I went the first time and my memories are spotty at best of my first trip.
We are very adventurous when we eat out. We live thirty minutes from
New Orleans so I like to think we know what good food is and seek it out on vacation.
My husband left most of the planning to me with the exception of a few places he insisted we repeat from our trip last January. Here is the line up:
Morimoto-dinner
Pepper market- breakfast
Be our guest- lunch
Hoopty doo- dinner
San Angel inn- lunch
Rose and crown- dinner
Tusker house breakfast
AK Kiosks in Asia- lunch
Sanaa- dinner
Pepper market- breakfast
Skipper Canteen- lunch
CRT-dinner
Ohana-breakfast
England qs cart-lunch
Lotus blossom-lunch
Via Napoli- dinner
I didn't take many food pictures, but I will try to link some here and there.
We arrived in the world late in the afternoon on a Monday. I had never been to Disney springs before, and I was stalking the various Facebook pages tracking it's progress.
When reservations for Morimoto opened up, I knew I had to try it. We originally had a reservation at T. rex because I was convinced that ds would love it. When we passed T. rex, I was so glad we changed our mind. The place was packed and so loud. I don't think it would have been very enjoyable after and eight hour ride. We had some time kill so we shopped for about an hour before we tried to check in. Raglan road was also, but it looked like fun. I instantly had a little remorse that we did not eat there.
The baby passed out on dh at some point and we sat at a bench outside the restaurant. It was about 4:30, and our reservation wasn't until 6:30. However, the hostess, who was not very friendly, agreed to go ahead and check us in for when the restaurant opened at 5.
We were seated not too long after five and greeted by a wonderful waitress named Ginger. She was absolutely wonderful! I had read several negative reviews of the wait staff at Morimoto and I was a little apprehensive. She instantly put is at ease.
We ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio for me (my favorite you will see this a lot
and a captain Morgan and Coke for my husband.
Ginger recommended the kakuni pork bao( steamed buns with pork belly). We also ordered the egg rolls. At some point ds woke up, and we placed an additional appetizer order for the edamame because it is his favorite.
The pork buns had an excellent flavor. My only complaint is the pork belly seemed to have an excessive amount of fat on one end so one bite was almost all gelatin fat and bun. The egg rolls were pretty standard. However, the dipping sauce they were served with was amazing!!!
The edamame was standard edamame and the baby are almost all of it by himself.
For our entrees, we orders the LA bbq kalbi and Lomein with beef and chicken.
The kalbi was great! It was served with kimchi which was well balanced and a very hot sauce. This was the standout dish of the night.
The Lomein was also very good, but it was not spectacular.
All in all morimoto was a very good choice for us for our first night. The atmosphere was very nice and our waitress was outstanding. My only complaint is that maybe it is slightly overpriced for some of the more traditional dishes. However, I would go back and ordered the kalbi in a heart beat!
