Hi All,

I have been reading the posts on the Spa and I am getting a little nervous, specifcally about them trying to "sell" me something and possibly being rude if you put "No Sales Pitch Please" on your form. I would like to hear your experiences with the spa -- what you did, how were you treated if you put "no please" on your form, how pushy were they if you forgot, and how do you tip the spa staff. I have never done a spa before, it will be my first time, so any other tips would be appreciated, too.

Just a week to go to our first cruise ever! :-)

Thanks,
Renée

I didn't put no sales on the form but when they came in I just said I wasn't interested in buying anything and that was fine. I tipped 20 percent.

am thinking of going to the spa this time, so am interested in what others have to say re opinions, ideas, suggestions, tips, etc. :flower:

I have never had a strong sales pitch at the spa. I never wrote no sales pitch on the form either. I just listed to what products she used and told her thank you. If you let them know you are not interested in purchasing them you shoudl not have any trouble at all.

I did write No Sales Pitch on the form when I signed in. At they end, the girl just asked me why I had written that. I told her that I came to enjoy the massage and I didn't need any products. That was the end of the that. She was very nice about it.

I enjoy massages several times a year. It is my one creative vice. :sunny: Usually i tip 15-20% at the end. My massage therapists have never been pushy with me. They should ask you if you have any particular problems, like skin rashes, diabetes, etc. and if you need them to work on any particular area, like lower or upper back. They keep you covered and warm all the time-very professional. They don't touch inappropriately. It is so relaxing to have someone care for me for a little while. I feel a million times better when i'm done. Sometimes i even fall asleep!

I have done the rainforest room and the chakra capsule. Never once was approached. They treated me with respect and no pressure. I have never heard anyone once give a "sales pitch". I take it that what people on here mean is when you have a massage or facial or maybe a manicure/pedicure. I assume that's when they want you to buy something.

Don't worry and get nervous about it. You will enjoy it. If by chance someone starts to talk to you about buying a product, a polite "No thank you" will do. Have fun!!!!

Although I've never done the spa on a cruise, I've been to several spas (my one luxury) and it has never been a problem. Sometimes they do give a bit of a soft sell on their products but I simply say, "No thank you, not this time". You could also say, "I'll have to check with my husband before I make a purchase" and let this man that they will never see, be the bad guy. The other thing you can do is say that you want to think about which products and can you come back sometime before the end of the cruise to decide, then just don't go back. These are all suggestions for people who have trouble just saying "no" directly. However, I have never experienced a hard sell at a spa. I don't think anyone is going to get upset by you saying no.

Thank you all for the tips and info. I am "a little less nervous". I just didn't want to get all tense after I just got all relaxed. :-) We are doing REAS, and I am hoping to sign up for some other fun spa option. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

Thanks,
Renée

My husband and I did the couples' massage on the Magic and both of us wrote "No sales pitch please. :) " Exactly like that, including me drawing a smiley face on the bottom :teeth:

Both of our spa technicians were very nice and never mentioned a thing at the end of the treatment. They handed us each a receipt to sign that had a space to write in a tip, so that's how we tipped them.

Just want to mention that even though we had booked the couples' massage through the Romantic Escape at Sea package, they explained that we still had to sign for the treatments, and the slip showed the individual prices of the massages, but we were never charged for them.

We both enjoyed our massages so much that we ended up booking the "Sole Delight Foot Ritual" for later that week. We had appointments for the same time so it was almost like having a "couples' pedicure" since our chairs were right next to each others. :teeth:
