So this thread is inspired by a late night conversation I had tonight with my good friend which was inspired by a new commercial for Starbucks Espresso in a can...where a band is following a guy drinking the starbucks and singing...

So we were talking about how great it would be if we could have a band follow us around singing the soundtracks to our lives...Different songs for different moods and or situations. To have our own theme song that plays when you enter a room...yes I know..we're freaks! :P but what do you expect from film people? :P

So I thought it would be interestign to pose this question to my Dis Friends...what would be the soundtrack to your lives? what songs would your band play throughout the day?

Just a little fun I guess...here's my list:

Jungle Skipper's Life: The Official Soundtrack

1. I Can't Turn You Loose from the Blues Brothers...my room entrance theme.

2. The Hustle....a disco classic, good for many occasions

3. Nature Boy

4. Hungry Like the Wolf (Great weird mood anthem)

5. Everybody Have Fun Tonight by Wang Chung (When I'm in a weird..playful mood...most of the time)

6. Fly me to the Moon (relaxed, good mood)

7. A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley

8. Hakuna Matata...self-explainatory

9. You're The Best by Joe Espesito (from the Karate Kid when I'm in a competitive, no one can take me down kind of mood)

10. The Show Must Go On...when I'm down in the dumps and need to keep going.

Thanks for entertaining my little whim of a thread...hope it sparks some good conversation.

Oh, my gosh! I've had my own personal mini-soundtrack for years! Certain songs will come on the radio, or on TV, or at a club, and all my friends still think of me, no matter where they are! I'll get phone calls saying, "I heard --- and I thought of you!"

1. Abracadabra by the Steve Miller Band
2. Criminal by Fiona Apple
3. I Wanna Rock by 2 Live Crew (how hideous is that? I can manage to work 'pump, pump, get it, get it' in to any song)
4. Legend of a Cowgirl by Imani Coppola
5. ***** by Meredith Brooks

and the song I get the phone calls about, I have NO clue why,(other than I used to dance around with wild abandon singing it at the top of my lungs) is

P-Control by Prince (hanging head in shame)

LoL--- P-Contol...that reminds me of my old roommate who use to do the same thing! :P

Good list of songs...

The soundtrack of ILove8Trax as I go through my various moods and stages throughout the day:

Canned Heat by Jamiroquai (Could be my wake-up song, good to get me going)

Best of My Love by The Emotions
Wonderwall by Oasis
Dreamlover by Mariah Carey
Love At First Sight by Kylie Mongue
Your Gettin Me High by Jason Mraz
(The songs that make me happy when pondering love)

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley (song that just gets me; grounds me)

Big Time by Peter Gabriel (Hell yeah, love this one)

I Feel The Earth Move originally by Carole King but the Mandy Moore version (Love this one too, just puts me in a good mood)

Be My Baby by Vanessa Paradis
Fell in Love With a Boy by Joss Stone
I Love Rock n Roll by Joan Jett (songs i would sing sometime during the day/night)

Doin You Thing by NSync (Puts me in an UP mood if i'm Down)

You and I Both by Jason Mraz (Good for bedtime; sad yet significant to me)

Lordy, i listen to music ALL DAY LONG while doing things. I dont' watch much tv, it's boring to me and useless really. I usually put the tv on the digital music stations if anything during the day. Good idea Jungle Skipper.:teeth: ::yes::

Great thread. Great songs too.

My personal list:

Don't Disturb This Groove by The System - this one is highly personal;)

Love Bites by Def Leppard, another one that I can't divulge the details to ;)

Band on the Run by Paul McCartney & Wings - always reminds me of laying on the grass in my friend's yard in the summer just listening to the radio and doing nothing (absolute heaven).:D

Back in Black by AC/DC - party song that brings back loads of foggy memories;)

Amanda by Boston - named our daughter after this song because it was playing on the radio in the hospital during labor:D

I agree - great thread and great songs!

Mine are:

"Still the One" by Orleans - for those moments in your life when family members and friends frustrate you, but you still love them anyway.

"Respect" by Aretha Franklin - my "attitude song"

"In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins - just love this one. Makes me feisty.

"Can't Help Falling in Love" and "A Little Less Conversation", both by Elvis. The first one for romance, the second for some spice!

"Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks - when I'm having fun!

"Theme from Chariots of Fire" - when I have to do something that's going to take me a long time to finish, I don't want to do it, but I HAVE to!

I love music!!!

Okay...

1. Star Wars Theme...my room entrance theme song. (come on, you had to know that one was coming!)

2. Graceland (Paul Simon)...I use this when I get frustrated, it makes a great dismissal to people, i.e. "You keep fighting if you want. Me? I'm going to Graceland".

3. The Sounds of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel)...for quiet, introspective times.

4. A Wink and A Smile (Harry Connick Jr.)...this is my whimsical, let's just relax and have a good time song.

5. Rivers of Babylon (Boney M.)...Let's me feel the gospel, but in a good way.

6. Jammin' (Bob Marley)...for that partying mood. Good excuse to pour yourself a drink.

7. Cherry Bomb (John Cougar Mellancamp)...when feeling nostalgic.

8. Saturday Night Fever (BeeGees)...okay, sometimes you just have to dance.

9. Jingle Bell Rock (Bobby Helms)...good for all festive occasions, not just Christmas!!

10. Summer of '69 (Bryan Adams)...because I was born then...still makes me smile to hear it!

Anything from Hannibal. No, the soundtrack isn't dark and evil, it's actually quite poetic in bits. Why soundtrack to me? Because it draws you back and away from the world and quite often I feel the same way - it's kinda nice, just watching people scurry around, content in the illusion that somehow this theatre that is life actually matters when all's said and done :)

And... tazz, you love Dirty Dancing?! It was good, but I can't honestly say it was that good... maybe it's a guy versus gal thing again :)

ps. If anyone doesn't believe me about Hannibal, download iTunes from Apple - the artist is Hans Zimmer and the ideal track to listen to first off is "Vide Cor Meum".

Well I have an eclectic taste so heres a little. I like this thread too.

1. "She's a Brick House"---I forget the artist. Just to funky and it really does play in my head way to much, just shake what my mama gave me.

2. "Amazing Grace" --- Spiritual Moments

3. " Go Rest High on that Mountain" Vince Gill. Funerals

4. "American Woman" Original Artist? Lenny Kravitz did a good job too. This is when its a road trip kinda day, music blaring and I look hot.

5. "Good Morning" from Singing in the Rain...my morning song.

6. "At Last" Etta James When I feel ultra romantic

7. "Two Little Birds" Bob Marley-when I need to get away from stress.

8. "True Colors" Cyndi Lauper--When I need a friend, or a friend needs me.

9. "When You Wish Upon a Star" Jiminy Cricket--Usually pulling an all-nighter during exams.

10. "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" When I think I do something adorable.

1. When you kiss me...Shania Twain

2. It only hurts when I breathe...Shania Twain

3. Summer Breeze...Seals & Crofts

4. Blue Eyes...Elton John

5. I'll go on loving you...:faint: :faint: ...Alan Jackson

And I'm NOT explaining why! Woooooo hoooooooo! :faint: :faint: :lovestruc

The entire Moulin Rouge! soundtrack is MY soundtrack for my life. No kidding!

ok just as a note to ,, refresh you youngsters memories:) Brick house was writen by lyonel ritchie and performed by the commodores back in the funk era:) , american woman was not by jimmy hendricks, was done by the guess who, later known as who, and at the time they recorded american woman randy bachman, who later formed the group bachman turner overdrive,, was the guitarist. sorry hate beingthe "corrector" but rock history is kinda my thing,, i like old songs and the old artists.. i even own 8 tracks,, i have vynal record s and an operational turntable with .. yeah instead of a laser,, it hasa neddle still:0

my soundt rack would have to be mostly either old southern rock ,, skynyrd and zz.. or classic funk like the commodores and wildcherry,, or a mix of those would prolly cover it:) maybe a bit of blues and zydeco,, (swamp music for da frog)

Thank you FroggyinArk I rememberd right after i posted having seen Lionel Ritchie on Oprah yesterday. And my father will kill me for not knowing The Who did American Woman. I am a huge fan of that music, anything pre-80's.

Great Thread!!! My taste in music is extremely varied and all over the place. (From Patsy Cline to Van Halen to Rick James to Hendrix to Zappa) I have different "soundtracks" for different moods. My friends always laugh when they see my cds and say my cd collection looks like it belongs to at least ten different people!!

Angry: Usually some heavy rock or metal or stuff with lots of foul language. Soundgarden, Guns N Roses, Incubus, Janes Addiction, Rage Against the Machine and Eminem do the trick!!

Happy/Goofy/Driving: Jason Mraz, Beastie Boys, Eminem (again), Beck, Sugar Ray, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Marley, 80s music, Lenny Kravitz, Sublime, Suburban Legends, Fishbone

AHEMsexyAHEM: Prince!! And some musica en espanol! ;)

Mellow: The Cure, Jason Mraz (again), Pete Yorn, The Flaming Lips, Jewel, Tina Turner, George Micheal, Alicia Keys, Jack Johnson, Bob Marley, Ben Harper, The Delfonics, Gavin Degraw

Dance: Deelite, Prince, Funkadelic, Justin Timberlake, other old 70s funk, Duran Duran :Pinkbounc

And there's always all the spanish stuff I'm into: rock, salsa, etc. (I admit it: I love Ricky Martin!! )
::yes::
