The Silly and Mischievous Adventures of Four Crazy Canucks - FINAL THOUGHTS 2/1

The last hour of that plane ride was terrifying! It was so bumpy, my hands were gripping the armrests so hard. When we landed the flight attendant came on the speaker and asked us all to give our pilot Gary a round of applause for landing us safely, the entire plane clapped enthusiastically.

I was so happy to get off that plane let me tell you!

Sounds like you had quite the flight down too! When people clap you know its been a rough flight! LOL!

Yay!!! You have started!!!

I'm glad you made it safely!! :thumbsup2

great start to the TR, loved it all, and really glad your brohters are here to chim in, we know how women like to exagerate in there TR, not that i have ever been accused of doing so in mine.
:rolleyes1

:goodvibes keep it up, looking forward to more.

#3 During mine and erich's beauty rest on the plane we were rudely woken up by a flight attendant to make sure we spoke English... and she asked us 3 times and we said yes she simple walked away and never spoke to us again :confused3 strange flight attendants.

Interesting. :rolleyes1

I was so happy to have my feet firmly planted on Orlando soil, Mom seemed pretty happy too, not sure what is up with Alek, seems as though he was checking something out in the distance. :rolleyes1

A really weird thing happened when we entered the airport. This older man was standing by the gate looking right at me, he then said what sounded like "Do you recognize me?" I had no clue who this person was and it kinda freaked me out so I just kept on walking. Perhaps he wasn't even talking to me but it sure was weird.

The beautiful Orlando Airport, a big improvement over Syracuse that's for sure.

Next up we had to catch the monorail over to the main terminal

Erich snapped this picture of me, don't I look lurvely? :lmao: I had been awake for over 24 hours at that point. I was tired!

It felt like it took forever to get our bags but in reality it must not have been that long as we had our bags and were on the road by 12:45 and our plane landed just before noon.

Erich relaxing while Mom and I checked in at the rental counter.

025.jpg

The rental car check-in went smoothly and we had our choice of three SUV's, we went with the Kia Sorrento. It was only raining lightly at this point and we were feeling pretty good after all our worrying about Fay. We thought "Hey this isn't so bad after all". :sad2:

Luckily for us all the toll booths on the highway were shutdown, probably due to Fay, so we were able to drive right through without paying. The plan was to drive to the grocery store and then check into the hotel, sounds good in theory right? Avoids backtracking and all that jazz. Well it would have been a good plan if the signs once you got off the highway weren't so confusing. We ended up heading in the wrong direction on one road so we turned around at a Mariott and the attendant there gave us directions to the Crossroads shopping area. We went to the Crossroads area all the time last year but always from WDW property never from the highway. I was getting grief from the backseat for not automatically knowing my way. I would have if we had checked into the hotel first!

Once we got to Crossroads we decided to eat lunch at Friday's. We were all starving since we hadn't had anything to eat since 2:30am except for the little airplane snacks they give you and those don't really satisfy. I was really pleased with my lunch here. I ordered the Southwest chicken macaroni and cheese, it was soooo good! I think the rest had burgers and salad, I am sure they will correct me if I am wrong.

After lunch we went over to Gooding's to grab some provisions. We ended up with a case of water, teddy grahams for Alek and Erich and cereal bars for me and mom.

Mom let me take over the driving after the shopping since I know my way around WDW better than she does.

We were pulling up to POP Century in no time.

054.jpg

Mom and I headed to check-in and left Alek and Erich in the car. There was no line at check-in and we were told we were in the 70's section, Rm 0414. I was happy with this as we had requested a top floor room and it was relatively close to the Hippy Dippy pool and the food court. We went to go back to the car but saw that Alek and Erich had followed us in and were checking out the gift shop. Alek was amused by all the liquor they have for sale right at the front of the store.

027.jpg

We all piled back into the car and headed over to the 90's parking lot. Even though we were in the 70's section the 90's parking lot was much closer to our room than the 70's parking lot. :confused3

We grabbed everything out of the car and made our way into the resort to find our room. On the way Alek spotted his first squirrel of the trip and got ever so excited.

It wasn't too difficult to find the room and I was happy with the location. The room was at the end of the hallway on the top floor. That meant less noise from people passing by and no turbo flush toilets and stomping feet from above. We also saw that we had our first towel animal of the trip waiting for us in the window, a cute little dog. (A picture of it will be posted in a later installment).

Once in the room Erich had to use Mom's cell phone to call up his school to make an appointment to schedule his classes. (They still have not set up an appointment for him and classes start next week! He has been calling constantly the past couple of days and all he gets is an answering machine).

I also had some phone calls to make, I had told Kat (KatGarcia) and Janet (jcc0621) that I would give them a call when I arrived to let them know we had arrived safely and so that we could possibly meet up that night since we were all at the same hotel. I left messages for both of them and then started to unpack while mom took a short nap and Alek and Erich played video games.

Leading up to the trip I had been a bit worried about the size of the room and the beds at POP as all I had heard was constant reports about how small they were. I am happy to say that my fears were unfounded. The room was plenty big enough for such a short stay and we had no problems with the beds either. :thumbsup2

It was around 4pm by the time I finished unpacking and we still had the rest of the day ahead of. We could not go to the parks as we only had 5 day tickets so we had to find something else to do. I did not want to waste our precious vacation time sitting around in the room!

Alek here... As usual lessa forgot some very important things.

#1 Mom will do my laundry even if it is clean and wont take no for a answer lol

#2 When I was taken aside I had 5 things in my empty bag... a camera... 2 books... a game boy and a charger for the camera... No idea what they thought was a bomb that the rest of my family didn't have :confused3

#3 During mine and erich's beauty rest on the plane we were rudely woken up by a flight attendant to make sure we spoke English... and she asked us 3 times and we said yes she simple walked away and never spoke to us again :confused3 strange flight attendants.

No problem its what Erich and I are here for to ensure that everyone gets a complete understanding to awesomeness of our trips. :laundy:

Oh this is going to be priceless!!! :rotfl: And Erich - you already have a fan club in my DD15. She loved your antics last trip report as she read over my shoulder! :lmao:

I lovePop too ,the rooms are fine, not like you spend much time in them other than to sleep and I found the beds to be comfy!!

You all are going to give them inflated egos. Nevermind it is too late for that already. :rotfl:

I agree, POP is good if you are there for a short time and not planning on spending a lot of time in the room or at the hotel.

Hi Lessa! Great update (as usual! :goodvibes) More please! ;)

Thanks! I am going to try and write this faster than my last one (took 6 months!) but not too fast or people won't be able to stay caught up! :rotfl:

I saw that, I hope Gustav doesn't cause too much trouble for all our LA friends. There is a second hurricane out at sea right now too, Hanna, she looks like she is headed straight for the east coast of Florida. :scared:
