My boys each made a sign to hold and wore Star Wars t-shirts. They're really not good at jumping up and down but they were the first picked. Actually my older ds was first picked then another boy and then after I started frantically pointing to younger ds, they picked him - lol, I guess I did the jumping up and down for them! :rotfl2:

They ended up being on the raised center stage. They really loved this experience and wanted to do it again but I thought since they were already picked, it would be nice to give others a chance (I always feel so badly for kids who don't get picked). They didn't get their signs back which I would have liked because they worked a long time on them. We were told that the Jed master liked to read them but I saw them unceremoniously tossed in with the discarded cloaks.

Btw, this show is very entertaining for adults too. The arrival of Darth Vader, Darth Maul and the stormtroopers is very impressive and the Jedi master keeps up a very funny commentary. So check it out even if you don't have kids! :thumbsup2

Yea for your kids! The signs worked for us too. I hope you found the photopass guy who will take your picture "fighting Darth Vader" as well. That way us older folks get at least a photo to showcase our Jedi skills! I got one this time so now I feel like I am in the spirit too. :)

I've been checking out the Youtube videos of this, and never have I wanted to be a 10-year-old more than I do now!! There's a hilarious one called "Darth Maul Doesn't Like Flowers" here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9MOgn-bWO4

The expression on the young boy's face as he approaches Darth Maul is priceless. (And no, I don't gain pleasure out of young kids getting the you-know-what scared out of them, but that Darth is awesome keeping in character.)

DS11 is the only one trying for this. His hopes are raised very high. He'll have a shirt on, and a sign made.. my fingers are crossed for him, that he gets picked.

DS6 would DEFINITELY freak out, and I'm not so sure about DS9. So, we decided to just encourage one kid to go for it.

I should have added that we arrived 30 minutes early and we were the only ones there for about 10 minutes. I was determined to get them into this session so we wouldn't have to return to try again. There are lots of spots available (I'd say at least 20) but there are lots of kids.

do you make really big signs? We are leaving on Wednesday, and I'm trying to decide if we should make a sign or not. My oldest ds is 4.5, but I think he'd enjoy taking on Darth Vader.

We used poster board double the size of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper and then we folded in half to fit in a back pack. I'm not sure if they actually can read them, but rather I think they recognize the effort that goes into making a sign or perhaps it helps to identify a die-hard star wars fan.

The younger kids all fight Darth Vader. My kids, ages 7 and 11 both fought Darth Maul.

I have DD10, DS6 and DD4. I hope they will be picked together.

I have bought some iron-on on ebay- it turned out OK. The kids are going to make signs tonight. Can't wait .........

Hmm- how do we get the photopass guy -is he usually around ?
Also - Does anyone have any idea how crowed is the afternoon show like 3:30 and 4:35 on this Thurdays (grad night) ?

THanks:dance3:

We just scribbled a last minute sign on the back of a regular 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. DS(6) was the third picked. Then my DD (8) grabbed the same sign and she was also picked near the end. I was so happy they both got picked. My DD was SOOOOO sweet, she didn't even admit to wanting to do the show till DS was picked. She knew how important it was be for him (he wasn't picked our previous visit and was crushed) so once he got picked she asked me if she could do it too. So I handed her DS's sign, told her to jump up and down, DH and I pointed to her and she got picked. It was their favorite part of the trip. DD took on Vader and DS went after Darth Maul.

We made signs with a marker on a paper towel.

They said "I want to be a Jedi" and I sooo want to be a Jedi"

Nothing else to them. I don't even remember what happened to them afterward. But, it seemed that the kids with either a SW t-shirt, sign or hyper parent (the force is strong in this parental unit) were the ones chosen.

see i know we could get chose but my dang son wont fight them he says NO im not fighting darth vader hes my friend lol

DS11 LOVES darth vader. he's rooting for him, in every movie. But, he's still willing to fight. :)

DH says our sign should say "I"m rooting for Darth" but, it's not worth the risk, of the jedi master not having a sense of humor!

One of the kids that got picked had a sign or t-shirt that said "Darth Vader was framed". The Jedi Master liked it and he was chosen.

We were there on 5/30 and my dd (6) got chosen. She was so excited! The Jedi Master is really good and so is the rest of the show! We had a sign drawn with crayon on the back of a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. She was smiling the entire time she fought Darth (she was just so happy) and when she was done the Jedi Master said "Good Job, Your smiling confused him" lol...:rotfl2: :rotfl:

I don't have kids get, just a DH whose a kid at heart and a huge Star Wars fan, so we always try to have lunch one day on our trip so that we can enjoy the show. But I always think, do they wash those robes after each use? I mean, I'm not an insane germ-a-phobe or anything, but when I was young, I participated in the Star Trek re-enactment thing at Universal and I got lice from the costume. So whenever I see things like the Jedi Academy that I always wonder if they wash the costumes after each use. Does anyone know?

Yeah, the signs worked for us too! My kids were the first picked on the right side. DH spent a lot of time making the signs and the "assistant" handed them back to me, saying they were too cute for us not to keep. There was one other sign waver in the crowd for that performance.

OTOH, we had this snotty family next to us who kept making nasty comments, among themselves but loud enough for us to hear, about how stupid and over-the-top we must be for bringing signs. :( It made my oldest self-conscious about it. When their DD didn't get picked and my boys did, it took all my self-control not to say something along the lines of "Suck it!" LOL, but, I kept my dignity and tongue in check. They stomped off, muttering that they come back when the show offs weren't around. Methinks they probably had a sign when they returned. :rotfl:

In the end, my 4-year-old was too scared to fight Darth Vader even though he really got into the training initially. They were really sweet about it. I sense they have lots of kids chicken out.

Good story. :thumbsup2

Your 4 y/o will be ready to take on the Darth's next year. ::yes::

& regarding the family "Snot"..... :rotfl2:

(karma baby..... :goodvibes )

They probably wonder what all this fastpass fuss is about too. (while they're standing in a 70 min. line for BTMRR at 7pm). ;)

I found the photopass guy in front of the store by HISTA, where they also sell the Star Wars stuff. He was closer to HISTA. Easy to spot him since he carries a lightsaber! :rotfl2:

Good luck and may the Force be with you!

Here was our sign

We were on the very end but in front, DS was picked about halfway through. I was starting to sweat it! He is only 5 and fought Darth Maul, but I could never get a good picture because of where I was.

He loved it though and that is all he talks about and all he plays! He loves star wars (even though he has never seen a movie)!
