The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

I can not believe that they pulled over the BUS!!!
Seriously, I've never heard of such a thing....

Only you Pat.

Loved your wrap up. It was a nice trip with your son. Glad you enjoyed it!

As we approached the airport and I saw the traffic I wondered what was up. If the bus driver would not have let the last car squeeze in, it wouldn't have been us. Since it was Sept 11th - it was every XX vehicle.

I am so glad they just inspected the bus and let us back on. I had a vision of them emptying all the luggage and searching it all by hand. :scared1:

The driver said he has never been pulled over for that before. The way he handled it I thought he dealt with it before.

Great final update on the September trip, Pat.

See what happens when you are ice and you allow a car in front of you; glad they didn't go through all the luggage.

POFQ is a cute resort, but the lack of quiet pools and the fact it has a very small hot tub turns us off. I didn't hear that they changed the air conditioning units...I thought they were still the wall units. :confused3

Glad that communication got better as the trip went on with Chris.

Looking forward to the next report.

Wow - I was so far behind. I'm not sure if I can remember my comments.

Here goes:

So glad Chris was such a good sport at 1900 Park Faire! Awesome! I love that he got up and danced.

That passenger boat going to GF or the Poly - Wow it really DOES look like is going to sink.

The baby changer - awkward!

4 parks in one day - very impressive! :worship::worship:

I fly in on 9/11 last year so I experienced the heightened security in Philadelphia, but it appears that Orlando is much worse. They actually searched the bus. WOW - I guess they have to.

What a fun trip! Sorry I missed the beginning of this TR, but I sure enjoyed the end!

Sounds like Chris really got into the Disney spirit as the trip went on. The trying on of the hats in Mexico was hysterical!

Yikes! I can't believe they searched your ME bus. At least they didn't pull out and search every piece of luggage, you would have been there forever!

I heard POFQ did upgrade the units and when we were there I do remember seeing some out on the path with maintenance.

I will really know Chris felt when we go back for NYE. He has already requested WCC, so the experience was not too bad I guess.

I originally had 1900 Park Fare at the beginning and I moved towards the end of the trip. GLad I did that, it might have been bad if I did the first night. :eek

I think it was simple counting cars and I am sure Orlandos finest were none too happy about stopping a busful of Disney people.

Whenever you are caught up and want to go back I did put link on the first page. :rotfl2: I know we are never all caught up. At least I am sure I never am. I feel like I am chasing most of these TR's. :lmao:

I made a conscious effort to do all 4 parks in 1 in the first Oct trip. Now it seems to happen by accident. Sometimes it is a quick dip into the park other times it is a legit in each park for a couple of hours with multiple rides and/or eats.

I am glad too. I don't think there was too much prodding, maybe the first one but he took it from there. :lmao:

If they did I might have needed every minute of those 3 hours ME allows for you at the airport.

Sounds like you and Chris became better travel partners as the week went on....good job!

Let me get this straight -- a lady freaked out on Living with the Land? :confused3

I have travelled with him alone to Disney before. I took him in '06 and even then at age 12 he stepped up and was carrying luggage and really did a good job.

This time I think we both started out with a slightly different plan and once we got on the same page we were OK.

I am hoping NYE begin where we left off and gets better from there.

Let me get this straight -- a lady freaked out on Living with the Land? :confused3

Soarin' We were seated and buckled in and as the lights dimmed I think she lost it. Had to e-stop the ride, calm her down and then release everyone so we could all buckle back in. I am not sure why it took her that long to freak but I can only guess she thought she was going to be OK and then realized she couln't do it.

Trip dates Oct 1-4 and Oct 10-13

Where POP century again.

I took an early flight out and once again thought I had plenty of time to get to the airport. Well a computer crash a few days before and somehow that morning seemed like the right time to start reloading the computer. :sad2:

I get the car parked and arrive to check my luggage and the wonderful USAIR gate agent tells me she can’t check my luggage because I am only 42 minutes before my flight and not 45 minutes.

After I ask her to check it anyway she tells me she can try but it might not make my flight. Ok I have magical express and it will get there eventually and I have my smaller carryon so all is good.

I get stopped by security because I have way too many batteries in my bag since I wanted to make sure they were in a package and not loose. That and all the electronics in the carry on made TSA take a second look.

I get down to the gate- at the end of the terminal no less and don’t even have time for coffee which I need because the nonexistent line is not moving at all. I am finally allowed to board and now we have to check our carry ons. Now I won’t get ME for the untagged bag so I have to stop at baggage claim anyway. Can I just claim both bags- NO the one with the ME tag will be pulled before the carousel.

What a rough start. Flight was smooth and I was on ME by 9:40 am. I was all checked in to POP within the next hour.

What section was my room in?

By 10:55 I was heading here. First Day of Food and Wine.

IMG_9384.jpg

Apparently EVERYBODY knew this so it was pretty crowded.
My plan was to eat lunch at Food and Wine and then meet Maroo( Mary) at DHS. She was going to the “Be our Guest Podcast meet” and I was going to join her.

Lunch was

Fisherman’s Pie and Lava Cake from Ireland

IMG_9396.jpg

IMG_9397.jpg

Crème brulee and a Cosmo from France

IMG_9401.jpg

IMG_9400.jpg

Made my way to DHS by Boat

IMG_9406.jpg

I walked in and said hi to BO

IMG_9408.jpg

This guy was working behind the counter. I this is Bo’s younger brother
IMG_9407.jpg

Now last summer, Bo was “on vacation”. This October I walked around the corner and

IMG_9413.jpg

Now the car was gone.

Guess who else I saw?

IMG_9414.jpg

Walt from the summer trip. This time he was walking around and looking for the car. I guess they really don’t tell them anything . I was meeting Maroo around 1 so I had time for a couple of rides.

With this wait time

IMG_9421.jpg

IMG_9420.jpg

And the single riders line- Do I look excited???

Back to ToT

IMG_9431.jpg

I meet up with Maroo and we head off to the treehouses. I think this is where Maroo had a run in with a bus driver and called in to report him.

Next up a party in a Treehouse!!!

Hey, hey, pretty lady! :goodvibes I was so happy to finally touch base with you, glad to know your doing well, inspite of your crappy summer. :thumbsup2

So when is your next trip again, I know it's soon, but I don't remember the date.
Sounds like this trip didn't start off to well, I'm sure it's going to get better. I'm sure the car in DHS was stolen, what do you think?
As for Maroo, what in the world happened with the busdriver that she had to report him? :confused3 She probably told me, but I don't remember the details. I know a lot of the people on scooters and in chairs have had some serious issues with being put off from getting on buses as if they are second class citizens, hope that's worked out better for everyone since this trip.

Our Epcot day for this trip - 1 day, short trip, no hoppers for my friend and granddaughter - will be spent doing whatever the little girls want to do and eating whatever the big girls want to eat. :goodvibes

The Lava Cake is so good, but too rich for more than just a bite for me, so we share that one. I get one teeny tiny bite, and Jill and Brooklynn share the rest. Creme Brulee - yum!. I've never gotten the Fisherman's Pie. Is it a Sheperd's Pie with fish instead of beef? Would you rate it worth getting? We kind of nibble our way around World Showcase on Food and Wine trips. The sample sizes, though, are still pretty big, in my opinion, so we don't end up getting a lot of things because we get stuffed.

Have you been to more than one Treehouse Meet? Are you going to do some BOGP activities on this coming trip?

Tower of Terror is one of Kay's favorite rides. Probably her favorite. I don't know if her granddaughter will be tall enough to ride with her. Brooklynn says she's going to ride again, so I may sit out with Breana and let Brooklynn and Kay ride together.

Things are looking up around here. I am settled in and moving forward. If I can get all the nuscles in my hips to play nice- I will have a nice run in less than 2 weeks. If not, then I will run but it won't be as nice or fast as I hope it to be.

I am officially in single digits. :cool1: Today is 9 days.

That Oct trip started out a bit rough but after that initial bump it was pretty much smooth sailing.

My notes only say she had to report him but I think she may have rolled on ahead to catch a bus and the bus driver made a big ta-do about having to load her. He was a bit unDisney like and Maroo was not pleased in the least.
When you usually get great service, and then get crappy service it really stands out. It was significant because she did report him. I don't mean to downplay it but I know I did not witness it and by the time Kristin and I made it over there it incident was over. :confused3

Eating ( and drinking ) around the world when it is not Friday or Saturday night is so much fun.
The Fishermans pie was seafood and I know veggies specifically carrots because as soon as I discovered then my nose started to run. I really need to learn to ask about some of those allergens.
It was good - big chunky pieces of seafood and veggies.
I like Food and Wine because I don't have to "commit" to a full meal. I can taste and either get more or move on. Over the last couple of times I have had my share of the good the bad and never again.

I am ashamed to say I have not been over there to see if activites are going on. I have done little to no planning for this trip, :scared1: I have park hours and the run but really that is it.
I guess I better get a move on. :lmao:

Okay, that makes a little more sense. I could see that happening. I wondered if that was it, but only noticed pictures from Living with the Land.

Sorry if it wasn't clear. The picture right above it was from the screens in the stand by line. We got to play a little before we went in since the wait time was 15 min.

We got off the first stop in SS and found the path

IMG_9434.jpg

This must be the place.

IMG_9435.jpg

Now if you want to see the inside of the treehouse – come on

Now as part of the party of sorts – names were being pulled out of a hat for door prizes. While I was trapped, I am in the master bathroom unable to move due to the crowds. ( What is the capacity for a treehouse anyway ? We were over it!)I WON!!!

IMG_9452.jpg

Now you are going to have to wait for the picture of the contents of the box. I know I took it, but right now I can’t find it and I am being too lazy to take new ones. Of course by now it would have been easier to take new ones and upload with all the time I have wasted looking for the others. :headache:

I chatted with some wonderful people who shared the love of all things Disney.

IMG_9453.jpg

IMG_9455.jpg

Standing in this picture is Kristin. She was travelling with a girlfriend and a friend of the girlfriend. Welll, she broke away from them when they put a cramp in her plans. She spent most of the trip with us. It was great.

The underside of the treehouse

IMG_9457.jpg

Are we done for the night? NO WAY. Guess where our eveing plans take us next.

Hi! :wave2: All caught up! Seems it was just yesterday you and I were having lunch talking about our upcoming trips. Can't believe it's been almost a year. *sigh* Lucky you gets to go back soon!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

My boss is at the beach this week. We need to have lunch while he's gone and before you leave! LOL

Catching up...

I guess I can see how a teen wouldn't be impressed with the Kim Possible missions. But I still think they're cool.

And what a joy, to be stuck in a random security search! :woohoo: Anyway, I hope the trip was rewarding for you and your son, even if he doesn't admit it. :goodvibes

Just read through the new updates, and I think the Treehouses look pretty cool! :thumbsup2
