The Search Feature Is New

I want the New Posts back. I hate hate going from board to board. With New Posts I can search all the boards at once.

I don't like change. :guilty: :sad2:

I used that feature everyday. What will I do now? :confused3

I liked being able to do a search for the threads that I'd posted on, which is how I kept tracked of the threads that I was interested in. Now I can't do that. I didn't normally subscribe to a thread unless it was a thread that I was interested in that I hadn't posted on. Now I can't find the threads that I posted on. I'm not happy...

Fast is good, however, and I guess I'll have to get used to subscribing, once I go clean out all the old threads that I'd subscribed to in the past. :rotfl:

Same here!
I can deal with change if its for the better - yes this search is faster, but I find it less effective. I like the old search better.
I searched for me & it only returned 3 results from 2004! If it does this for my name, then what is the point of searching for what I what if it isn't going to bring me to where I want to be??? This new search is useless!!

A faster search is good but I liked looking at the "new posts" option better.

It didn't return any threads for me! :rotfl2: Think of how clean my house would be if I hadn't post in all these years! :rotfl: If there's no record of all the postings, can I at least get all those hours back? Webmasters, are you reading? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think it stinks, too. I don't subscribe to any threads, I just go and search for my own posts to see if there have been any replies.

Now I can't do that, so I'll NEVER keep up with it now.

::yes::

same here-I like the fact that I could find my friends locations by searching the posts they made-and I really miss the new post search too :guilty:

Webmaster Katyhy said this on another thread:

try this:

On one of your posts, click on your username in the left panel. Select "Find More Posts by PhotobearSam" in the drop down box.

That should return all of your posts, beginning with the most recent.

Webmasters, you need to make this a sticky at the top of the Community Board, so people can find it.

When I do a search for me by my username the latest posts I am getting posts are July 16th(I think), even when I use the "Advanced Search" feature :confused3 .

agnes!

That only helps a little. It does give the threads that I've posted on, but the other way I did it meant that I was able to see if there were any new posts to those threads, see who had posted last, and it was less "busy". At least this gives me a way to find the threads that I've posted on so I can now subscribe. :teeth:

New posts is working
Well we may have discovered some of the problems we are having. Search is a huge load on the boards and if a lot of people are using it to find their own posts..that is not a good thing! That is what subscribed threads are for

Oh, but we like to make your job interesting Alex!

I admit to using the search to find my posts. if the 'subscribe to this thread' was in a more prominent position, say at the bottom next to the reply button or something, it would make it easier to track our threads. :)

Now, the task of the Webmasters is to figure out the way WE use their functions, vs. what they are originally intended for!

People: if you never subscribed to threads before, you currently have no threads you are subscribed to until you first change your User Options so that you are subscribed to threads. In the far left corner, click on User CP, then in the left column, click on Edit Options.
Scroll down to "Default Thread Subscription Mode." In that little arrow box, pick one of the email options. This will automatically subscribe you to ALL threads you post to. CLICK ON SAVE CHANGES.

To view your subscribed threads, at the top of the screen, click Quick links, then --> Miscellaneous, then --> Subscribed threads.

Later, periodically, go and edit out your subscribed threads list in your Quick links/Miscellaneous/Subscribed threads and delete some older subscriptions. :teacher:
