The Sea Witch Stole My Voice! Our Two Week Land and Sea Adventure! COMPLETE 4/12

I have no concerns for me as I have "Cruised" before!! Also I was fine on the very choppy English Channel !!!

You know Rosie the cost of a cruise is nearly equivalent to the cost of a WDW vacation. :rolleyes1

Your beautiful tropical pictures are making wish it was at least spring here, this snow is KILLING me!

I am so ready for spring as well! I am tired of being cold!

Once again, beautiful pictures. I have to show Joe the hi-res pics. He will love them. He has been on the fence on cruising but this may change his mind. :goodvibes

 Hopefully you can convince him!

Did you have to pay extra to use the boats etc?

Wow there sure were lots of character meets, I suppose that's what you get on a Disney cruise :rotfl:

Yep, you have to pay extra to use any of the equipment. I think the only equipment you can use for free are the inflatable vests. Any other water sporting equipment you have to rent.

It is cold and snowy here today, too bad I can't send this weather across the country to Vancouver! ;) This weather sure makes me long for a beach!

You should be a photographer. You have a knack for it!!

Finally all done with the character pictures, we headed to the beach. We decided to find a spot on the family beach by the snorkeling lagoon as that is where I was headed first. I wanted to get in the water before too many people caused the sand to get all stirred up making the visibility poor...

We were able to snag a spot close to the water right near the snorkeling section. Looking down towards the rest of the family beach.

Castaway Cay has several beachs: a family beach, a teen beach, a children's play area, sport beach and then of course there is Serenity Bay which is adults only.

In order to snorkel at Castaway Cay you need to wear a vest. This is the building where you pick one up for free. You have to pay if you want to rent the rest of the snorkel gear. We, of course, had our own so I just got the free vest.

Castaway Cay is currently undergoing many improvements thanks to the two new ships that will be arriving in 2011 and 2012. They are expanding the beaches, adding new fun water play structures, private cabanas and new eating areas. It all looks very nice.

Just like on the ship they have CM's walking around asking if you want a drink. I declined for the moment as I wanted to go snorkeling before I indulged in anything.

Well remember how windy it was? Well that did not make for the best snorkeling conditions. The water did not have the best visibility as the sand has been all kicked up by the weather. I could still see things but not as clearly as I would have liked. Disney has fun "sunken treasures" that you can seek out such as statues of several of the characters. I only found the Minnie statue before giving up and going back to the beach.

I was a bit disappointed in this snorkeling experience, hopefully when I go back the conditions will be better.

A windy day at CC is still better than a sunny day at work...:)

Glad to see you finally made it to "paradise" which also means the trip is coming to a close...:sad2:

 Yes, I made it to paradise for the third time on that cruise. I will admit that I have a hard time deciding which beach I loved best.:laughing:

Hi Lessa,
Your Castaway Cay pics are amazing :lovestruc wish I were there right now. The improvements sound like they will be a great addition too. We are going to book a cruise on the Dream for next summer. Sorry about the snorkeling on CC. You know Trunk Bay is one of my favorite beaches in the world for the excellent snorkeling. I loved your character pics too, Mickey and Minnie are so cute with their beach outfits on. Yay for being first for Captain Jack!

i was about to say it did look pretty windy there that day,w as it still warm out, people look like they did not have a hard time int here suits in the weather.

Wow, looking at that veranda, I need to think about spluring when I take my niece. I really need to research what I am doing, it will August, 2011 before I know it.

Hi Lessa,

I just found your trip report (what you have so far) last Friday and I am loving it. This is the trip that we plan on doing in 2012 - WDW then cruise- so this has been great to read. I read the whole thing at work :rolleyes1 and it is making me so impatient for our future vacation. Your photos are great and you and your mom seem like great travelling companions.
