Here in Australia, we regulate who gets to have a firearm. They need a special license and none of the official gun sellers will sell one without the person getting a license.
I'm not around very many photographers anymore, and here in the Midwest, when you hear/see shoot, it's generally with a firearm.

...I had the honor to photograph President Obama and Vice President Biden when the visited my hometown. I took a half day in order to make it through security and everything... well, my regular job is a student aide for a blind senior in high school. When people asked where I was that day, he responded, "Oh, she's out shooting the President."
I could have rung his neck!
