But don't forget he was looking out at the aging audience!! LOL :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I guess i find it more amusing since I really have aged with Bruce ..I was 16 at the first concert and now over 40....
:rotfl: :rotfl:
and I admit I have not aged as gracefully HAHAHAHA

The third time I saw Bruce was about 6 years ago...I was over 40 (as was he!). The concert was on a week night and I walked over straight from work. All the time I was thinking I would feel dorky because I wasn't wearing any "cool concert clothes." Well DUH...almost everyone there was my age or older...and they were dressed like me! The guy next to us was there with his little boy. I admit that the experience made me feel very old.

'"Show a little faith...There's Magic in the nIght......"

HAHa you beat me to the line...NoticeI did not include the "ain't a beauty but hey you're alright...." line...

One of my least favorite lines...though harsh I always forgive the Boss for honesty....LOL :rotfl:

I've always liked the line "you ain't a beauty but hey you're alright" because Bruce himself is no beauty. He is the classic example of a guy who is very sexy without being handsome.

plus from the lyric clearly other guys wanted to be with her.
it just shows you sexy is about confidence, persona, personality, etc. I've always found him incredibly sexy. When I saw this concert from the 70's you can definitely see it.

I love Bruce too.

First Bruce album I got was The River in 1980 and I've seen him 4 times in concert including the Amnesty International tour. The 2 encores he did during the Tunnel Of Love tour shows are the best live experience I've ever had.

I love the stories he tells, especially the one where he and Little Steven climbed over the wall at Gracelands.

I think my favourite Bruce lyric is "God have mercy on the man who doubts what he's sure of" - from Brilliant Disguise.

Joanne, did you have that tag before this thread?

Yes I got tagged in August. I doubt whether I will actually get to visit there though unfortunately.

The work that he puts into his lyrics are second to none... My personal favorite is "Meeting Across The River".

That's the most underrated song he ever recorded. One of my favorites as well, although Candy's Room is another underrated one that I love.

see what I mean. Everybody in jersey has a bruce story. Jersey folks could do 7 degrees from Bruce using people they personally know, much better then they could do Kevin Bacon.

ROFLMAO!! That's SOOOOOO true!

BTW--I met him in the grocery store in Red Bank--he wasn't paying attention to where he was going and neither was I, and we crashed our carts. He was very apologetic while I stood there with my chin on the floor. I've worked in the music industry on and off in one capacity or another for 25 years now. I've met some true legends--Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Eddie VH, etc. But none of them, not a one, ever made me star struck.

I have to admit, I was with Bruce. I think it was the chance encounter that did it. I stood there with a cart full of ice cream treats getting soft (company picnic and I was sent for the dessert or something along those lines) looking like an idiot. It literally took me a good 20 seconds before I could pull myself together and sputter "I'm sorry". And then he just started to crack up and told me to have a great day and went on with his business.

I have to admit, that I must be the only one around, not a fan. I think his music is good, but, growing up I was never into Bruce. I did go to 2 concerts of his a few years ago, because my friend who is a true fan asked me to go with her. I was the only one in the audience that didn't know the lyrics. That being said, he has a beautiful horse farm in my town around a 3 min. drive from my house. We also go to the same video store as him and have seen him in there twice. No one made a big deal, I guess because its a small town and some people here see him daily. What I do like about him, is that he walks around like a "regular" guy and has no "airs" about him. He's friendly and seems like a real nice guy always with a smile on his face. There's a few musicians who live here, again, the ones that I'm not fans of. I must be into the wrong type of music.....

BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!!!!!

I saw him twice in Aug '03 at Giants Stadium in NJ.....Great show. I love how the whole stadium rocks when he plays. And as far as aging gracefully, he is in GREAT shape to go 3 1/2 - 4 hours playing to the crowd, hanging upside down from the mike stand......

Hey what else can we do now
Except roll down the window
ANd let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night's busting open
These two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels

Well I got this guitar
And I learned how to make it talk
And my car's out back
If you're ready to take that long walk
From your front porch to my front seat
The door's open but the ride it ain't free

believe me, Asbury Park is a scary place. Not a place to hang out. There's a reason Bruce keeps doing fundraisers for the town.

oh, i'm so incredibly jealous. That's the kind of encounter i'd love to have. Like I said, DH does alot of work in Red Bank area. He works on upscale homes and large chains like starbucks. He's probably bumped into Bruce and not even known it. I've heard from people who live near him that they really treat him like a regular guy. No pushy autograph types or begging for pics, etc. So i'm sure he's happy being there.

A friend of mine met him in a bar in Greece. He was on holiday sitting outside having a bar and Bruce was sitting at the table next to him. My friend couldn't just do nothing as it's a once in a lifetime thing so he said "Hi" and they ended up having a beer and a long chat.

I'm sure Bruce would take it as a compliment that he is regarded as a regular, approachable guy.

You can say that again! My DH and I went to a show at the Stone Pony a few years ago, and met my girlfriend there. At the end of teh night we walked her back to her car, which was parked a couple blocks away. AP is like Camden, get in, see the show, and get the heck out. It's sinful, because 100 years ago it was a beautiful and vibrant place. Now it's just gangs and drugs. I'm waiting on Trump to by up the entire town...I can't believe he hasn't done it yet.

I love Candy's Room too.

the odd thing about asbury park is it's a beach town. There's no difference between AP and ocean city. Yet here in ocean city you can't buy a single floor of a condo for under $450,000. With some effort it could be a beautiful place.

Agreed! I think the developers are afraid of the gangs/drugs, and wasn't there a lot of mafia related activity within the poliotical system there not so many years ago? (I could be wrong)

if they improved the area and housing prices went up you would push out the bad elements. People don't pay a million dollars for a home so they can sell crack out of it. Even Atlantic City and Wildwood property values are going up and develpment is changing them. It just takes a leader who puts his neck on the line to fix things. Bruce has done some fundraising to help them. I just think it's sad. Put in a boardwalk and a bunch of ocean front hotels and you'd have a vacation destination again.
