Pete's recent requests for stories about how the DIS has affected your life got me thinking. I've been listening to the podcast for about three years now. I started listening too late to help me plan for my last Disney vacation in 2009. And I'm currently in a situation (that might hopefully change soon thanks to the help from some DIS-ers) where I'm not planning for an upcoming trip. What, besides lots of laughs, could I be getting out of the podcast?
The realization hit me when I was listening to the Disneyland DIS anniversary podcast. Even though I'm not listening to learn and plan my next Disney vacation, I realized that I am listening to learn. This occurred to me when I was listening to the always eloquent Wayne Toigo (sp?). I always enjoy Wayne's segments. His research and knowledge are impressive and impeccable. However, it's his way of talking that always impresses. While listening to him talk, I thought to myself "I wish I could learn how to organize and express my thoughts that easily, sensibly, and authentically". My thoughts clicked, and I thought "I wonder what else I'm learning from the podcasters?"
I came up with a quick list for myself, which I'll list below. But it got me to wonder what other people are learning from the podcasters and bloggers.
Please name and describe the classes you'd take from the DIS Unplugged podcasters and bloggers. Here's my list:
Finding Your Voice: Learning how to organize and express your thoughts, by Wayne Toigo
Theme Park Prep: Perfect Ways for Packing Your Patience, by Kathy Werling
Through the Glass, Kookily: Finding, embracing, and laughing at your own unique self, by Teresa Echols
Getting What You Paid For: Being a smart and strong consumer, by Pete Werner
Note: I hope that I spelled all names correctly in this post. Please forgive me if I didn't.
