Happy Sunday fellow DVCrs. Question, we have a family vacation schedule at the Sagamore in August. I wondering for anyone who has been there, would you make dinner ressies at their restuarants or do you have recommendations of places off property?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DH, DS & I have this in mind as an alternative to going "home" next year. We wouldnt need to pay for airfare. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

The restaurants are three in number, one is for gourmet eating at its best, and does not allow children under 12. The second is a buffet type meal but is also very much in the gourmet mode. They do allow children in that one, I believe. The third place is down at their pub, where you can eat inside or outside, and has an excellent lunch menu. I found all three restaurants to be of the highest quality for food and service. If you are coming with children that are young I would lean toward eating at the pub, and some of the downtown area restaurants that are also very good but more family style then at the Sagamore. The Sagamore is only a short walk to the downtown area. I am not sure what you mean by family vacation but if it means children, I would eat dinner off campus most of the time if I were you.

Hi, I believe there was a thread not too long ago about this, but seeing as the search function is disabled....

I have been to the Sagamore a few times, (we live in upstate NY about 45 min from there). The summer is a beautiful time of the year to visit, there are lots of fairs going on, Saratoga Springs is a great place to take a day trip and go to the track too if you are going before season close, there are a number of great restaurants in SS as well. Lake George is only a short drive from the Sagamore....there are lots of boating, miniature golf, fishing, swimming, etc opportunities in the summer. We've heard that the dinner cruise from the village all the way up to Ft. Ticonderoga and back is really nice, but we have not taken it yet, just done the 2-3 hour ferry trips. The rooms at the Sagamore were very nice, the 'porch' area looking out on hte lake was great too. We did not eat at any of the restaurants at the hotel, but did do the breakfast which was VERY good!

Anyways, have fun planning your trip!
