that co-op makes me laugh don't you think? So not that same thing is it in the UK lol. Imagine American seeing that name in UK and expecting the same lol..

It really is the little things, Alison.

I'm so pleased to see the coffee bar all set up. :thumbsup2

(Lovely meal, beautiful tomato and love the Mickey plates!)

The funny thing is that we could probably just walk away from the old house and we would have everything we need here, but there is still a TON of stuff at the old house. :rotfl2:

Oh now it's a home! First cooked meal makes it so and what a marvellous spread for a moment I thought we were in EPCOT so professional it was... Love the Mickey cheese board!

Those kitties look like pigs in mud. I see no complaints from the new feline residents there. I can almost hear them purrrrr. Perrrfect end to a very tiring week so far!

You're so sweet. Yes, I think the kitties are happy. Even the white things are starting to come around.

That first dinner looks really delicious. It is so great to have things grown in your own garden.

Corinna

Thanks! I love being able to walk out the back door and get fresh vegetables for dinner!

I'm glad that they are happy and settled in, I was worried about that. We have done a bunch, but there is so much more to do!

That's pretty amusing, you need to go find them. The good thing is that I moved a lot of this stuff in during the past six months. I got all the Mickey plates out of storage and put them where I wanted them to go. The hard part is getting the rest of the stuff out of the other place.

OK, so what is a Co-op in the UK??

I can't wait to meet all your kitties! Are they shy when it comes to strangers or will they come to us?

Yum, amazing salad! Such a simple yet delicious meal. :thumbsup2

I love, love, love the new house!!! I can't believe that I was so behind on this thread. I'm glad that you got the fridge cold enough now. Any word on the tub (or did I miss that)?

It kind of depends on which kitty. Some of them are timid (white things) but Bagel is a big clown and wants in on all the action. Milo loves to meet new people and people used to walk down the street at the old house and stop and pet him for a long time. He'd roll on his back exposing his belly just eating it all up.

Tesla and DC are funny, sometimes Tesla loves people and other times he's wary of strangers. They're all different, but I'm sure you'll get to meet a few of them.

The kitties look so happy there

The tub is Monday morning. We finally called the sales rep who sold it to us and got them to call us and set up an appointment. I took another tub today, and just sopped up the mess with three towels!

The kitties are happy! :flower3:

I know right?!

OK you ladies in the UK, I'm going to say it again louder! What the heck is so different about a Co-op in the UK vs what the shops at DTD are????

It's really nice to be sleeping here and have all the kitties. It's still very unsettled and every day I think of something that it still at the other house. Yesterday it was my computer back up drive. I can't remember what it was today, but so much is still in boxes or not assembled yet, as you will see in the next update.

Maybe I am best equipped to answer this as the head office for Co-op is right here in Manchester. The Co-op here in the UK is a chain of usually smaller grocery stores that are owned by members. The profits are shared with the members. They are very community orientated and support local community projects. Apart from the grocery stores that they are best known for, they also have a number of other businesses like a bank, insurance, travel agencies, drug stores, etc.

So last update was about some of the little things, so to swing the pendulum to the opposite direction this update is about big things. Some really BIG things!

As you know we arranged to purchase some display cabinets a couple days before our trip to WDW. Finally this past week we found a time when the contractor’s guys and the seller and us could all get together and move these things.

Wednesday after 1PM we could start to move them, so we all drove to Upland. (Far away in LA perspective). I picked up a U-haul truck and Fran followed me to the guy’s house. Our moving guys met us there and they got to work. It took about 2 ½ hours to get the stuff into the truck and we had to put some of it in our SUV as everything was made of glass and we wanted to secure it safely. By the time we got back to Long Beach it was 6PM, one of the guys had another job starting at 7PM, so we decided to pick up where we left off the next day. The truck wasn’t due back until 1PM anyways.

We couldn’t park it in front of our house because there is a rule on the CC&Rs stating that no commercial trucks may be parked in view from the street on or in front of our property. So we found an appropriate location to park the truck and I worried all night, but for naught, it was there in the morning when we went to pick it up.

So then there was the unloading and that’s where this report gets photographic. They got the living room rearranged and starting bringing in the cabinets.

From another view.

These are the shelves and doors (which are still leaning up in the same place)

Here are the other two cabinets before they got them off the truck.

This is Nacho, one of the guys moving stuff. He wanted his picture online.

Here they are trying to get the cabinets aligned.

Here they are hooking up the electrical between the cabinets.

And the cabinets are in place.

By this time it was getting late and Ryan said he would finish the assembly the next day.

The next day, Ryan came up with an entirely new situation. Because these are Industrial Grade cabinets which were used for display at a Macy’s in West Covina, they aren’t intended to be placed on a shag carpet floor. The previous owner of the cabinets had cut the carpet out on his floor and placed the cabinets directly on the slab. Because the power units are contained in the base of the cabinets, that makes sense to do in case of a short circuit. So before the cabinets get screwed into the wall, they will have to be moved, the carpet cut, and then moved back. Then the installation can continue. I hope that by next weekend we are putting figurines into the cabinets.

On other storage locations, the pantry has been textured and painted. All we need to do is put the shelves back (plus a few more).

And the closet from the furnace off Olga’s room is done. We’re going to put a bookcase in the back of this one and who knows what else we plan on storing.

That’s all the excitement for now! We’ve been taking the weekend off for a little R&R!

I really like those cabinets. They are going to be a great place to display all your figurines!

WOW ! Fantastic to have scored those display cabinets Your collectibles are going to look awesome in a proper showcase:thumbsup2 You must be so excited thinking about what will go where That is going to be fun I am very happy for you both :goodvibes

Nacho is funny! Love people with personality.

The cabinets are awesome. I was thinking they look like department store display cabinets. I worked at Bullock's (remember Bullock's?) for years as a young teenager.

The pantry looks great!

What a task to get the cabinets in, but oh my are they going to look amazing!

Everything is coming together slowly but surely. How about the fridge and the bathtub?
