The Saga of our Disney Dream home - It's about time!

How am I just now seeing this???

This is the coolest thing. If I could get DH on board, I'd do it.

Subscribing. And frantically showing off the thread to dh, because I have zero shame.

I'll work on catching up! Those chandeliers. Gorgeous!!!

:welcome: Well I'm glad that you made it over here! I got sick of hijacking my PTR and TR threads with the house when it was obviously going to take a long long time. instead I just made it's own thread where I could update only house stuff.

Great you are settling in. I am pleased the cats are finding their paws I know it takes time. Pleased that you found them under the couch! Thank heavens for the tub!

Hope you are getting some nice rest :-)

Yeah, so much for the tub. If you didn't catch it earlier the danred thing is leaking. They need to send someone out to fix it. :sad2:

Alison
I was just browsing the Disney Store sale and saw they have HM items on sale. I thought of you guys and your delayed HM room. Have you seen them? I love the tray

Thanks for the heads up. We actually already have all that stuff. It's really cool, we got it when they had it on the HM cart outside the HM at DL. Very cool! :thumbsup2

I will. Except the tub. It's leaking! :worried:

Actually we can't unpack what we haven't packed. We still have to bring over the stuff from the other place!

We haven't moved in 17 years! :faint: This is going to be one heck of an undertaking! I don't know how long it will take to get what we want out of the other place and then have the Estate Sale. Fran looked at it today and said, "It's going to be a year before we are out of here." Before that she was saying 3 weeks. I hope it's somewhere inbetween!

We're really enjoying the new home, the key is now to get out of the old one!

I hope the technician figures out the tub problem. Can't have it leaking into your newly done bathroom!

We just moved after being in our house 18years. I ended up doing most all the packing, supervising of the movers and unpacking of the POD that came a couple weeks later. We started a huge remodel 2 months after moving in, so I never unpacked/moved into the kitchen or the master bath. Now our garage and living room are full of boxes of our stuff, plus all the shipments of appliances, vanities, a huge tub and other remodel stuff.
So we did things sort of backwards from you- moved in then started changing things. I think we just really wanted out of the old neighborhood! Our new house has great neighbors, a better school for DS6 AND a pool and hot tub. That is one of the best parts.

Have you been enjoying your pool? With those heat waves, I hope you have!

Pity about the leaking tub and I hope it gets fixed soon.

That's a massive amount of moving in you've done so far. At least the cats look like they are settling in.

Sure hope your walk in fridge gets sorted. :thumbsup2

I'm in love with all the Kitty City! Begging DH for some. Our cats get bored and fight. Also get on/under things they shouldn't. I'm convinced this would help!

Sorry about the tub and fridge!:/ Hopefully it's easy fixes...

The house is looking great! Moving is so much work....take your time and you'll get it all done. Hope you get the leaky tub fixed soon!

Looks like the kitties are settling in just fine!

Great to read the update! No way re tub and fridge issues! I hope that the suggestion for the solar in the attic works for fridge. Did the tub folk get back to you? How disappointing.

Now that is one MK for kitties right there! Too cool for school or what. Those kitties must be loving it. I hope they have their annual passes up to date!

How nice you have a Thai place like that man I love Thai! And a Subway yum! And McDonalds. You need these places when moving. It's hard work. You guys must be exhausted. I bet you can't wait for the calm.

Ok every move has it's bumps in the road ( tub, refrig ) but all fixable The days you described, while admittedly long and tiring, seem to me that you all are extremely organized and things went/are working like a well oiled machine I am thrilled when you say something and then followup with pictures bringing us right there with you

The kitty city is fantastic ! A perfect little jungle habitat right there in your/their home Those windows and the lighting will give them heaven on earth While I posted those cartoon kitties to make you laugh sounds like I wasn't too far off the mark with how each one reacted differently It went the same way with the dog move The end result for us & you is the reward of it all and they love their home

I am glad you shared everything about the SN beds This bed has been on my mind for awhile now as I do my homework to replace the really old sorry thing we have Nice that you love it & even nicer to see the customer service

We were in our house 17 years, so pretty similar. I'm sorry that you are having to live through all the work, hopefully we don't have much more left to live through, although they do have to patch and paint a few more places and finish the flooring in the new closets.

We wanted out of our neighborhood too. Some awful tenants moved into the building next door and we couldn't get out of there fast enough.

We have not used the pool yet. No time. However, the heat wave was between the Road Trip and the WDW trip, it's been rather nice here since we got back.

Pity about the leaking tub and I hope it gets fixed soon.

I have to call them again today, they were supposed to call yesterday to get us an appointment and didn't. I still used it this morning, just had to sop it up with wet towels.

The fridge is getting there. Today it was 40 degrees when I woke up. When we get the solar fan that should help a lot.

Great update! This has been a long time coming - so glad you are IN! :cool1:

Thanks! I know, a very long time!

We had about half these Kitty Trees in the old house, but we didn't have the space to put three of them next to each other. At the most they had two in a row. Now we have three sections in the main living area each with three in the grouping. It's so cute they run from one to another trying to decide which one to sleep on!

I'm hoping that they are both all fixed by the end of the month.

The house is looking great! Moving is so much work....take your time and you'll get it all done. Hope you get the leaky tub fixed soon!

We can't do anything else but take our time, we're too exhausted! The kitties are pretty happy!

Hopefully the tub and fridge work it out soon. At least I can start putting meat in the big fridge instead of the baby one.

The kitties love their little MK! :rotfl2: The best part is that it is Thai/Japanese so I can get sushi and Pad Thai all in one place! :thumbsup2

Yes, even though it was a pain, the move did go pretty smoothly. They love the big windows and all the light, they follow the sun spots throughout the house as it moves throughout the day.

The SN people had great customer service but it wasn't out of the goodness of their hearts that they disassembled the bed. It was $180 on each side and they couldn't "move" it at all. We had to take care of that.

A few more pictures....

This is the Olga suite.

And this is Basil (aka Bagel) enjoying the last of the sunspot before it scurries away.

It's nice to see a post-move update! As long as the cats are happy that's all that matters! Loved that you moved them in the dark of night so your neighbors couldn't see them.

I can't decide which of your kitties I like the most they are all gorgeous :goodvibes I miss having a cat since we lost Tazzie I don't dare bring in another though He was with us long before we got most of the dogs and they grew up with him being here Now that they are old & set in there ways..uhhh No

I figured it would cost something with the SN people I didn't say it right What I meant was sometimes you buy a bed, or anything else no matter how high the cost, and a company pretty much has the " tough luck" attitude if it needs to go someplace else If you had to do it again is the SN what you would go for ? You may have told us I forgot Is it helping with all the physical pain issues that so many of us have getting a good nights sleep ?

I truly hope you have success getting that tub person over there ASAP Some customer service just isn't the same as it used to be

We have had NO A/C since Monday night at 7:30 :scared1: many things have gone wrong with a 24/7 emergency service contract The house has ranged from 85 to 90 degrees The night tech Mon decided he was too tired to work the rest of the night....seriously ????? So no one comes until Tues AFTERNOON

Long story short when someone finally came yesterday it's a hard to find valve which they are over-nighting from TN...no Lennox part in all of FL ???? I am sitting here sweating and have not heard from the company yet ( sigh )

OMG, I am tired just from reading this. What a shame that the tub is leaking and the fridge is still not cooling properly. It is great that the cats are pretty much settled in. It really looks like they have their own Kittie Disneyland.

How fun to meet your kitties! We have a half tabby/half Siamese, named Belle and she would be in heaven with all of those kitty condos! I agree with Dolphingirl, definitely looks like a Kitty Disneyland!;)

Sorry about your tub and fridge. Hopefully, they will both be working without any issues ASAP.

The. tub. is. leaking. :furious: That baby better be fixed ASAP as I'm sure it cost a pretty penny!

Hmmm, I hope you're able to fix the fridge problem soon. I thought they had this all figured out when they changed everything. I'm sorry things keep popping up.

Good news is the kitties are in and look happy :) very cool jungle gyms for them to play with.

I certainly hope it doesn't take a year.

Well actually it wasn't the dark of night, just behind closed gates...:ssst: either way I didn't want the neighbors to see how many cat carriers were going inside the house. Long Beach has a regulation of only four cats per house. When we had three apartments in the building we could easily get away with it, at our house here, they are more strict about things....

I can't decide which of the kitties I like best, which is good, I need to love them all equally. Tesla does have a special place in my heart even if he is a butthead. But I love them all, I couldn't imagine being without so many. Just one animal seems really lonely. I know you understand.

Yes Sleep Number is a quality company and has a quality product. I would recommend them whole heartedly. They have been great (other than replacing the remote that doesn't work), I have to call them again about that.

I'm sorry you have had to do without A/C in Florida that must suck. Here is just sucks, but it really sucks in Florida.

OMG, I am tired just from reading this. What a shame that the tub is leaking and the fridge is still not cooling properly. It is great that the cats are pretty much settled in. It really looks like they have their own Kittie Disneyland.

They had a great place in the old house. In fact they had more real estate than we did! but in this house they are all placed strategically for optimum view and optimum jumping, plus in the bedroom they have options for sleeping other than the bed. They do have Kitty Disneyland!

Well the good news is the fridge seems to be cooling to the right temperature now. But we will be installing a solar cooling fan for when it gets real hot. Right now it's been OK, but the temps will go up when the attic gets hot. So the fan will be a big help!

I have to call the tub people tomorrow and say "waz up?" because they should have called me today even if they had to say we can't schedule you until tomorrow.

The. tub. is. leaking. :furious: That baby better be fixed ASAP as I'm sure it cost a pretty penny!

It cost more than a pretty penny, they NEED to make it work!

The fridge is almost fixed, we're pretty good on that one!

They love their kitty cities, that is one of the reasons that they were freaking out on the day we moved. They were without their furniture for about 4 hours and they didn't know what to do. They were so relieved to find it in the new house!

So sometimes it's the simple things that get you. Here is the first dinner that I made for us in our new house.

So here's the first meal that I cooked in our new house. First tomatoes from our garden.

I made some Caprese Salads and drizzled them with Balsamic Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

And we had grilled cheese sandwiches and salads for our first meal.

Our first meal at home was a success!

And a few other small successes

This was my pasta dinner made from our own tomatoes.

And then I finally got the silverware drawer organized

Our everyday dishes

And my most used pots and pans

And my lesser used pots and pans.

And the coffee bar.

It really is the little things, Alison.

I'm so pleased to see the coffee bar all set up. :thumbsup2

(Lovely meal, beautiful tomato and love the Mickey plates!)

Oh now it's a home! First cooked meal makes it so and what a marvellous spread for a moment I thought we were in EPCOT so professional it was... Love the Mickey cheese board!

Those kitties look like pigs in mud. I see no complaints from the new feline residents there. I can almost hear them purrrrr. Perrrfect end to a very tiring week so far!

That first dinner looks really delicious. It is so great to have things grown in your own garden.
