Sat 15th July
Up at 7 and had all the last minute things out of the way by the time BIL arrived to take us to the airport , not forgetting to give him a set of our car keys so he can pick us up in it in a fortnights time.
We checked in and had the middle 4 seats on row 21. Now I don’t know about you but as far as I am concerned when the bags are checked the holiday is officially started.
We went to the Travelex desk and collected our traveller’s cheques and I was surprised that they made me sign all of them before I could leave the desk and Theresa was not allowed to sign any??? I'm still not sure that this is a rule but she was not pleased that she would have to ask me for any money for the next two weeks. Normally she takes care of the family budget so this trip was going to be different. (Note from Theresa: Just have to use my credit cards then!)
We had loads of time as our flight wasn’t till noon so we went up stairs to have breakfast at Frankie and Benny’s. We ordered various breakfasts but Theresa’s arrived about 10 minutes after the rest of ours and that was after we had chased they up for it.
After breakfast and a quick look around the shops we went downstairs to go through passport control and passed Maddie’s friend Emma and her family going up, we knew they were flying the same day but didn’t think we would see them. We didn’t have chance to say more than hello as by the time we realized it was them we were at opposite ends of the escalator and had to move out of the way.
We cleared passport control and saw that our flight was on the board as being delayed until 1.45 No problem they can make a lot of that up in the air and we are on holiday so chill.
Anyway the flight is called at 1.45 and we move through to the gate but on the way they announced over the Tannoy that the flight is delayed further and we can return to the lounge area or carry onto the gate if we wish. We were nearly at the gate and a Costa coffee stand was just ahead of us, so Theresa is not called Latte lover on here for nothing and 1 x latte , 2 x hot choc & 1 x Mocha later we are still chillin out nicely.
We did take off at 3.45, nearly 4 hours late! No sweat we are on holiday after all.
I ask on the flight and the delay was due to a medical emergency on the flight over causing them to have to make a landing at Gander in New Foundland.
The films on the plane were
POTC 1 (disappointed as the web site said it was POTC 2)
Aquamarine (rubbish)
Firewall (not bad)
Food: Sausage and Mash, Chicken or Pasta.
We were in row 21 and the chicken had run out already!
Maddie and Theresa went for a walk around the plane and bumped into Emma and her family ( I can’t believe teenage girls can talk so much and not work out that they are booked on the same flight!!!!!!)
The queue in immigration was not too bad after we had waited ages for the bags to come through.
On to the car hire where had booked the Full size, I was not going to get caught out like last year.
This was a really nice car and 3.5 litres so accelerated like test track.
We got to the resort at about 10 o’clock, the plus side being check in was now very quiet. I asked if there was a package for me and the lady went out the back to check.
I had ordered a camera off of E Bay and had it delivered to the resort, as you will tell from all the pictures posted on this report it HAD arrived safety.
We finished checking in and found our unit 1536 in the fountains section. It was really lovely!
Kitchen area
dining and living rooms
Kids bedroom
Whirlpool tub in master bathroom
We ordered a Pizza as Maddie and Callum hadn’t eaten on the plane and Callum and I went to collect it from the Pizza Hut on site.
The Pizza was delicious and even though Theresa and I had eaten 2 meals each on the flight we both had to have 1 slice much to the kids’ disgust.
Time for bed after a very long day and one more surprise that had Theresa and I smiling as we got into bed, it was so big there were 3 pillows across it!
I thought I'd better add that these pictures were not taken on the first night as you can see it does look lived in
