It was Yomif’s first ever marathon… amazingCan you imagine running a sub-2:00 marathon and losing the race?! Incredible!!

I was hoping for this lol, timing mat was in an awkward spot so I had to restart, was praying for a surprise but no go.Awesome job! Maybe the official time is a second less!
You did amazing. I'd love to get to that point again.I was hoping for this lol, timing mat was in an awkward spot so I had to restart, was praying for a surprise but no go.
Was kind of frustrating, trying my best to track progress but you know how it goes with the apps. I knew I was close though, was keeping a really solid pace until a hill around mile 11. Checked my watch once i hit 12 and knew it was unlikely but just hauled it the best i could.
I think there’s a way to manually count miles in some apps during races? I’m going to need to do that if possible.
Just finished the Jim Thorpe Marathon
Going to drive four hours home and rest, hopefully write up a full report in the next couple days but I’m dropping some spoilers here and now
Weather - perfect
Course - absolute dream
Training and taper - excellent
Fueling - spot on
Pacing - eh, 4/5 is good, a little fast but not bad
New 10 mile PR
New half PR
HUGE marathon PR with a 3:23:58
And…
That’s a BQ -6:02 !! Fingers crossed
Go for it. And don't think you have to be superfast to benefit from a carbon plate. I have had several talks with advanced runners and with the local Fleet Feet store about this. Even people who are not considered fast can benefit from the carbon plate. It may not be the optimal benefit, but there is still benefit as far as getting that spring/roll and helping you move forward. Give it a try. At that price point, it can't hurt.Lidl the discount supermarket is selling these carbon plate running shoes for £40 / $52 !!
I mean I likely will never be fast enough to benefit from a carbon plate but they are so cheap. Should I ? For research and curiosity purposes?
I saw them in the shop yesterday and my wife said to just get them but as I am definitely team not so fast I didn’t.
That’s what watching world record performances at London does to the mind
