Yes! I'd love to do the Mt. Rainier half since it happens while we are usually visiting Seattle, but the difficulty is five stars so I will probably stick to just hiking with my FIL.Someone just shared this with me: a race series in the national parks! Does everyone else already know about this?
I am sooooo into destination running now [holds thumb over his punch card showing exactly 2 destinations....], and doubt that I'll get to do even one or two of these, but I love the idea. That said, I have told the DW that I'd like to do more destination runs, especially in places we'd like to visit anyway. She rolled her eyes and harrumphed, so I'll take that as support for the idea....

Okay all you UnTapped users.....what exactly does this get you vs just using plain maple syrup? I mean, I always have a qt size bottle from Costco on hand and I have a flexible gel flask. I was thinking about giving this a try. What would I be missing?
I know there are some runners here who have done some of them. I looked into the Grand Teton and Yellowstone races at one point, but when I realized they don't actually run IN the parks, but in neighboring towns, they lost their shine for me. I don't know if that's the case for all of them, and nothing against the specific courses, it just wasn't what I was looking for.Someone just shared this with me: a race series in the national parks! I will definitely look up that podcast. The Rise & Run podcast did an episode (#158 - link here) with the founder of Vacation Races. His enthusiasm and attention to detail really came through in the interview.
Pickled plum(umiboshi) is verrry salty and verrry sour, so it might be nice in the ol’ mouth hole that late in the race, not saying I’m gonna run out and do it, but I get it conceptuallyI have some serious questions about some of these items, though...pickled plum?? Not sure I'd want that at mile 23. What does glucose even mean? Are they just handing out sugar packets like you put in your coffee?
Also who thought a doll-shaped pancake was a good idea? It's like they want their fuel to come alive and murder everyone! Have they never seen a horror movie before??
I ran Antelope Canyon 55k in early 2020 and it was an amazing race! I highly recommend any of them assuming they’re all still going on with federal workers being laid off…Someone just shared this with me: a race series in the national parks! Does everyone else already know about this?

Signed up for the marathon! My first outside of Disney, things just got real! For all my MN runners, and anyone else looking for an early October race weekend, registration for Twin Cities Marathon Weekend is now open!
Even with the new extended time, I'm not quite fast enough for our marathon. But I'm in for Loony. I hope we get weather like last year, that was pretty much perfect.Signed up for the marathon! My first outside of Disney, things just got real!![]()
THIS. Be aware that they don't run in the parks. I'm sure there are permitting issues, etc., not to mention that most national parks have one main road, and if that was blocked off for a race, there would be tourist mayhem and traffic jams. But most national parks are in such beautiful areas that running "near" them is still very nice - probably depends on the parks.I know there are some runners here who have done some of them. Forgot this was today. There's goes my productivity as I constantly refresh my email also waiting for the rejection email.Good luck to everyone who entered the NYC marathon lottery. I'm expecting the usual rejection email today, but fingers crossed!
I'm refreshing my account and told my husband to keep an eye on his credit card statement. It's my first time entering the lottery, and while logically I know the chances are essentially zero, I can't help but hope.Good luck to everyone who entered the NYC marathon lottery. I think this is year 6 or 7 of me entering (with probably no success), but I know someone who got in two years in a row with no rejections - so it is possible!I'm refreshing my account and told my husband to keep an eye on his credit card statement. Good luck to everyone who entered!
I entered the lottery on a whim a few weeks back. Not expecting to be one of the lucky few but it would be a delightful surprise. Any idea what time they usually start notifying folks?Good luck to everyone who entered the NYC marathon lottery. I'm expecting the usual rejection email today, but fingers crossed!
