The Running Thread--2024

I only got up to watch the end of the marathon, but what a race.

The winner, Tamirat Tola from Ethiopia, broke the Olympic record on a super hard course! He wasn’t even supposed to run, he filled in for Sissay Lemma who was injured. And Connor Mantz and Clayton Young came in 8 and 9, respectively, super close to their PBs.

I got called in to make pies this morning (this time of year gets crazy with pre-orders and there was no one else available to come in and help, so this is the first I've worked all summer) but I made sure to get up early so I could watch some of the replay of the marathon. It makes me very curious to see what the women will do tomorrow.

Been a lot of fun watching the track events, wanted to make a trip over but the ticket process was incredibly annoying, hoping for better luck in four years.

And not running related but Steph Curry? Geez.

I’m watching the replay this morning and there’s many hiccups in the stream that sends the broadcast back a couple seconds, then proceeds. Is this a Peacock issue today? It’s gotten annoying. This wasn’t happening yesterday during the men’s marathon.

Weird, that didn’t happen during the live broadcast.

Real question…..where does Sifan Hassan go from here? Like….what does she do now? How do you find “the next thing” when you did the Olympic triple, medaled in all 3 events, and ended with gold???

Well, she “only” got bronze in the 5000 and 10000, so a triple gold is something to strive for in 2028

I just finished watching the women’s marathon and I’m lost for words! What a finish!!! I couldn’t be more pleased - I’ve been hoping so much she’d pull it off but with an OR to boot?! Incredible.

100% a Peacock thing - it kept doing that to me during Tour de France replays and other Olympic events, too.

Dopey, winning all 4 races?!

Didn’t she win those at Tokyo and get bronze in the 1500? I mean…she’s won a gold in almost everything.

Faith Kipyegon winning the 1500 for the 3rd straight Olympics is crazy too. So many amazing performances by generational talents happened in the past 2 weeks (Crouser and Kovac in the shot put, Katie Ledecky, Simone Biles, tons I’m sure I’m forgetting.) I don’t know how LA is going to be with a big question mark above a lot of these “aging” athletes.

Yeah, so, I forgot to buy more bandaidds yesterday after deferring yesterday’s long run to today.

At least you're in good company!
😂 The only time the has happened to DH was at Coronado Springs. He commented on how many people were looking at his shirt from one of our local races. When we finished, I stopped by one of the pools to grab towels and turned to hand him his and the look of absolute horror on my face stunned him. I was like love, they weren’t reading your shirt!!! 😂

I've always thought that. It may be annoying to find new model bras, but dang good ones are great for various tasks.
Just like shoes, there are a million different variations that work for different bodies. And once you find one you like, they inevitably go and change it. ::sigh::
