Is cake a good pre-workout? Asking for a friend.
(for real though I have had such a long day but the gym calls.)
Yes. I think. Cake is always good.

Just be aware the half starts in Canada, it is only the full that runs across the border.
Trying to be light hearted, but just keep in mind my PT’s favorite quote: “there are two types of runners those who have been injured and those that still will be.
I am taking a solid 4 weeks off from running. Two more weeks to go…..sigh……
Timing is just bad since running is a huge stress reliever.
In addition to Detroit there is a marathon, the Niagara International Marathon, that starts in Buffalo and ends in Niagara Falls, ON so it is another chance to run both countries. I did it a while ago and it was a really good race.
Good to hear! Their half has been on my wish list for a while. It sounds like a really cool race.
Not quite cake, but I ate a pop tart and gummi worms before the half a few weeks ago and had a great race. Cake sounds even better than that combo, unless it has a ton of frosting. I am not a frosting fan.Is cake a good pre-workout? Asking for a friend.

I can’t comment on actual cake, but gu makes a birthday cake flavor that tastes exactly like canned rainbow chip frosting.![]()
Probably not in the next two years but the marathon has been on my list of potential for a while now. Thanks for the insight! If anyone decides to do this race, let me know and maybe we can do a mini-DIS meet-up as it is right across the border from me.
I did the 10K in 2019 and it was a beautiful course that ran right along the river and ended up at the Falls. And the weather that time of year is just about perfect. All things being equal and the border being open, I'd definitely do the 10K again or try the half marathon (depending on whether I decide to attempt Dopey).

Thank you! I will check it out! I usually have my volume low enough that I don't know if I'll really get the full benefits of the location, but its worth a try. Running virtually through Scotland might make the Central Park hills less painful.

I have a mild allergy to honey, though it's not usually a problem if it's cooked. Having never tried honey stinger waffles I wasn't about to take a chance mid-race.They were handing out Honey Stinger waffles pre-NYC marathon a few years back--they tasted amazing, but couldn't quite convince myself it wasn't just dessert masquerading as fuel (not that there's anything wrong with that)![]()
Salted Watermelon Gu is life.
I just learned that the medical tents at Disney races have Coca Cola. This is life changing. There's always Beat the Blerch! Cake at the aid stations!
I'll have to give this a try. I really enjoyed the Tri-Berry, but the blackberry flavor was nasty. That is my go to also!

I hear you on the CP hills, those are a barrel of unfun (esp the rolling ones). Would having the accountability of having other people to run with make training less of a slog? I think there are a couple groups in the city that also run before the sun.
