July Miles: 117.3
2020 Miles: 606.4
I know I’m late reporting my July miles, so consider this a virtual race report too...
In July I continued my first @DopeyBadger plan for a local half marathon that was scheduled for today. I was hoping for a new PoT for Marathon Weekend, but as I’m sure you can guess, it was cancelled. They gave us the option of running it virtually or deferring to 2021. Since the best part about this race is the course, I opted for the deferral. However, I had signed up for the virtual Seawheeze half marathon the same weekend.
I loved the variety of paces and intervals in my DB plan! It made training fun instead of a chore. I think it also helped with overuse injuries.
I am a treadmill runner so gauging fitness during a virtual race is hard. I picked a pace hoping I could speed up at some point, which didn’t happen. However, I did manage to run all 13.1 treadmill miles without slowing down (just my usual 1 min walk break per mile). My treadmill time was 2:23:02 while my Garmin footpod said I ran 13.7 miles... which puts my half time at 2:16:45. My half PR is 2:22:07, so assuming my actual pace is somewhere in between, I consider that a win!
Next up...Dopey training!
