The Running Thread - 2019

Got some Paczki at Publix. I think they were frozen at one point, thawed out and dusted with powdered sugar. I had apple or Bavarian creme to choose from. I bought the Apple ones. Should have just saved the $4.69 because they weren’t that great. My 15yo DS inhaled two of them though and wants me to get more.

Good morning folks! Hope everyone had a great weekend and I apologize for my absence. QOTD: Anyone doing anything for Lundi or Mardi gras today or tomorrow? How about this past weekend?

ATTQOTD: TO be very honest here, I hate parades so I did not and am not doing anything in that regard. We also have work so at most we will just talk about with the kiddos and maybe watch a live feed.

Nothing here. I don't see a time where I would ever go to see Mardi Gras. It holds no appeal for me.

ATTQOTD: One of my five year olds decided to puke right beside my bed at 2:30 this morning so for sure no celebrating for us.

Question for any of you that have had Plantar fasciitis. I got new inserts for my shoes and even bought KT tape. I’m doing all the stretches they recommend to do online. The pain isn’t bad at all just a little nagging and annoying at times. I don’t feel comfortable shutting running down right now becasue I have a 5k and half this weekend then Star Wars Challenge next month. Is there anything I am missing to help with it? If you’ve have had it, how long did it last? Thanks for any responses!

PF is an inflammation of the fascia. I never had luck with the rolling on a frozen water bottle but ice of some kind should help. For me, it was all in the stretches. I can feel it coming in from time to time and I just focus on my stretches and it goes away.

QOTD: Who is looking forward to warmer weather or wishing for it to stay cool/cold for a bit longer?

ATTQOTD: We had what is likely our last freeze of the year last night. I for one would like it to stay cold as long as possible because summer sucks! The truth of the matter though, is it is going to start getting warm by the weekend and our days with the morning low in the 50's is about to be done until late October / November. :(

Attqotd: I guess I am ready, but we will probably get snow storms into May this year, which is not unusual. I think I am mostly ready for racing season and/or a vacation, which I haven’t had in over 1.5 years. I haven’t stayed in the same 80 mile radius for this long since ever, that I know of. It’s driving me batty.

ATTQOTD: At the moment, it's 50-something degrees and pouring rain here in west-central FL... I'd like it to NOT be that. I don't want summer heat, nor do I want winter cold: I'd like a couple more months of 70-80*, sunny with passing fluffy clouds, and 75% humidity, pleaseandthankyou. :beach:

ATTQOTD:

My winter philosophy is that cold is only bearable when there’s snow, snow is only bearable when I don’t have to drive, and wind is the $#@$@ worst always.

I would like it if in winter it could only snow beginning after I’m home from work on a Friday night (preferably on a long weekend), as much as possible until mid-day Saturday, and for the temps to rise to 40 degrees by the time I have to use the roads again.

Since winter adheres to none of these guidelines it can get right out of town.

ATTQOTD: Warmth please! I really can't complain, it's been a mild winter and I only saw flurries once, but I just don't like the cold, dry air.

ATTQOTD: I would love cooler weather! But that will never happen where I am (Singapore - lowest temps here year round is maybe 72 Farenheit). Kind of miss running in cooler weather (lived in England for a few years) as I feel I can run further/faster when it's less hot out...

Beyond ready for a warm up and melting. More snow Thursday, but then lots of rain this weekend as temps get a little warmer, it's going to be slop city. Breaking snow and temp records isn't that cool.

ATTQOTD: Weather is kind of a touchy subject around here. The last time it was even above freezing was Feb 13th. It's been a loooong stretch of bitter cold and it just seems like everyone is kind of moody because of it. Needless to say, I'm ready for a warm up!
It so is & I'll admit I'm one who is super moody because of the freezing & all the snow. At least we have had some sun that helps.
