ATTQOTD: I’m going on 8 years of just winging it. It worked pretty well for about the first five. The last three have been really rough. I’ve always had races on my schedule to try to keep my motivation, but I’ve fallen into a pattern of being OK with just finishing. It’s been pretty self-defeating for the last few years. So my plan is to start following a schedule after (hopefully) finishing Dopey this year. I won’t have any other races on the immediate horizon, but running has never been about race/time accomplishments for me; it’s about self-confidence, health, having my clothes fit better, etc.
I’m sure I’ll schedule some races in the next year, but I want to get the important part of my journey back on track before I start scheduling them again.
