The Running Thread - 2016

Got one last run in last night after trick or treating as well to end the month with 158.6 miles.

QOTD: With a new month comes new goals. What are your running goals for November?

My goals are to run 200+ miles for the month, at least one 60 mile per week, get a few runs in during my trip to WDW, and stay healthy. Stomach bug killed my goal for last month, so avoiding that again would be nice!

QOTDII: This weekend has high potential. This Saturday college gameday is coming to campus. Our tailgate is about a block away from where they are going to be. If everything works out, I should finish up my long run around 9:30 and could walk over with a sign. The question is, what sign can I make with reference to DIS, LSU, and Bama? I am open to suggestions... Anyone watch the show? LSU needs to win because Saturday is also my birthday, not a exciting number (33). Two more years until a new age group for races. lol

November major goal is to run our local half marathon on Sunday after having to downgrade from the marathon. Just looking to finish it and not further aggravate my healing plantar fasciitis. If that goes well, then hoping to finish up November with ramping up mileage and get back on track for Goofy training.

ATTQOTD: My goal last year this time was gearing up for WDW weekend. I'm not going this year (cry) so now I need to just keep my fitness going while the holidays swirl around me and no goal-races in sight for a long while. So I guess I'll say November is to add in cross-training to keep me motivated and to figure out quickly what the heck I'm doing between now and 2017. Gaining back my 15 lbs lost is NOT a goal...got to remember that!

@LSUlakes I remember how excited I was to age up from 30-34 to 35-39 this year until I realized that all the fastest women in my community were hiding in my new age bracket. I'm hoping every one of them turns 40 next year and no else turns 35. :) Not that I'm competitive or anything. Oh and I thought of a good sign "GO GREEN WAVE!" (ducks, runs for cover...sorry....Go Tulane...3-5 is good right?)

ATTQOTD: I've hit week 8 (of 18) for my Houston Marathon training and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting into marathon condition (key word being "starting"), so my goal is to continue to improve and stick the plan. Also, I need to pick and sign up for a 10k or Half to do in December.

I know at one point the rivalry between these two teams was a big deal and the game was played for the Tiger Rag. I however have no issues with Tulane, and wish them well as a instate school. Matched up on the field, our programs are very different these days.

You could make the trip to Baton Rouge, for the Baton Rouge Beach Half Marathon on December 3. It will probably be my last tune-up race heading into the Houston Marathon. If you decided to go that route, let me know of any questions you have. I run parts of the course every weekend and the post race party has some really good food!

Thanks for the offer! Sadly, my lack of discipline would kick in and I'd end up driving right past Baton Rouge and into New Orleans. I'm weak like that.

My November goals are to have run at RnR Vegas, treat it as a training run and not go out too fast, and then keep training for my goal half the first weekend of December.
This is my goal for RnR Vegas too, it's going to be hard since it is going to be a flat course at night in the desert (I feel like everything about that screams PR)!

Miles for October: 42.36

Goal for November is more of a wish than a goal. I am hoping my IT band improves a lot this month! Saturday I set out to do 8 but walked it in starting at mile 5. Thats a 1 mile improvement from my last attempt at a long run. Star Wars is a couple months away so I have time to work on it. Heading in to the chiro for another ART session today.

Well the MRI results are in, and I'm NORMAL! They found absolutely nothing abnormal including cancer, cysts, bone marrow issues, fractures, sort tissue issues, and muscle issues. I guess I'm more baffled that it's completely normal, then if there were something there. I mean I can feel a distortion. However, I'll continue to play it by ear and as long as it doesn't cause me any significant issues then I won't worry about it.

November goal is to continue to train for Dopey as wisely as possible. On the schedule I have 230.75 miles and 32:47:33 in duration, but I feel no need to hit 100% of that. If I feel good, I'll do as scheduled. If not, I'll back off.

I can hum Tiger Rag by heart; I've heard it so much (and it really is a great song especially when trad jazz bands play it blazing fast.) Some nice LSU students took me in during a few big storms in my college days so I don't have much rivalry with you all. Now I can name a few southern crew teams on my "enemy" list from the ol' rowing days, but I'll be civil.

GREAT NEWS! I mean, it sucks when they can't point to one thing and give you a thing to fix it. I get how frustrating that can be from personal experience. BUT for them to say it's not anything on the "scary" list is awesome news!
