The Rumor About Disney Stores

Has anyone heard about this rumor. I was in the Disney Store last week. I was asking the cm when Disney is ever going to release Cinderella. The CM stated in Oct. I asked when could I preorder it. She stated the store is no longer do that anymore because they have been bought out by Children's PLace. She said there will be a change in the merchandise. It will be geared toward younger children. No more adult clothes. Why would the Disney sell their stores to Children's Place. The CM seemed very serious. She stated she would not be around for the change. She would be leaving

This sale became official in November of 2004. There still seems to be a lot of speculation about what the changes will actually be.

Um, I think you are a little behind...Disney sold their stores to Children's Place last year.

The Disney Store chain was bought out by Children's Place several months ago. I think the only Disney Stores still actually owned by the Disney company are the big one in NYC and the one(?) in the Orlando Airport(which actually was always part of the theme parks).

As others have said the stores have been sold to Children's Place....that is why the website was changed from disneystore.com to disneydirect.com You will still be able to get most of the stuff we have always gotten through the website and the catalog. Probably you will be able to pre-order through disneydirect.com whenever the release is officially announced.

Well, how odd a CM would tell you that. She/he honestly doesn't know. I am a Children's place asst. manager, and a friend of mine is a disney store manager. Disney stores are taking it day by day with movie promos. As far as disney merchandise from Children's place Inc., that won't happen until september, and as of now neither the CM or I have heard they are going to disban the adult line.

As it stands right now, Disney Store's merchandise assortment isn't supposed to change. There will be less preorders, but Cinderella is still scheduled to be a presale.

Children's Place aquired Disney Store 11/21/04. Don't understand that if the sale took place five months ago, that person said they were going to leave when it happened... .

Look on the bright side-Children's Place clothes are very well made. I can't tell you how many articles of clothing have been worn by my two boys, who are very rough on clothes. Yeah, two pairs of jeans recently were made into cutoff, but we'll still get a while out of those.

I look at the purchase as a positive thing.

It's the vase that comes in every new beetle. It holds bamboo skewers, which hold the antenna toppers.

One of the changes that took effect in April (at least at our local store) was the Disney Vacation Club member discount on merchandise is no longer accepted. It was supposed to have been eliminated a while back, but the stores were officially notifed and the register DVC discount key de-programmed in April.
