The Rudest People at WDW....

The major issue I had in Disney was slow people taking up the whole sidewalk/road etc.... they seem to naturally spread all the way across the area and are oblivious to people all around them and continue to block the flow of traffic. Please if you are walking slow, then walk to one side so the other people can walk at a normal pace. (And please do no one say that the fast people should learn to slow down and take in scenery, with ADRs and fp times that is not always a option) For example when I am walking slow because I am taking pics for I walk to the side and stop on the side, not in the middle of walking path.

But in general I found that most people in Disney were very nice, we spent a lot of time chatting with strangers while waiting in line :)

DH and I came to call that 12 wide. We call that out to each other when this happens in front of us to keep from getting annoyed....keeps our mood light. :cool1:

:lmao:
I've been known to say "Excuse us!" a lot when we're at Disney because of this.
Enough that DD starts saying it by the end of our trip without prompting.

Or another one that bugs me a lot are people who suddenly stop while walking without any slowing down or other indicator that they are going to stop.
Sometimes it's difficult to stop a double stroller when you're on a roll ... :rolleyes1

Your going to rude wherever you go. But the rudest hands down I have ever encountered are some of the South American tour groups. I don't have children yet but I this still pissed me off so much I wanted to physically grab the chaperone.

Two little children were standing with their mom on the bridge in front of splash mountain. The group came like a mob and literally pushed and trampled the little kids and mom to get that spot on the bridge. The whole time the mom was screaming. The group acted like the family was never there and just kept pushing.

I could give a million other examples and I hate to paint with a broad brush but the South American tour groups I have run into are just awful.

We saw rude people everywhere, but we managed to meet some nice people too. :)

Are the people that put kids on their shoulders blocking the views of a lot of people, including other kids. The second rudest people are the ones who hold a phone or ipad in your face for the whole show. Just an observation!!

Or the EVCers who ram your kid's stroller and then don't apologize? I thought that was pretty rude.

How about the people who stop and stand in front of your kid who has been patiently waiting for the parade to start and has to be put on Dad's shoulders to have a prayer of seeing anything? Those people stink, too.

People who leap over your child's stroller (with child in it!) because its in their way. They are rude and also dangerous.

Honestly I think Disney can just bring out the worst in people sometimes, especially when its hot and crowded.

yes yes and yes

What's up with holding your iPad up to film fireworks/parades? I don't mind if someone puts their kid up on their shoulders, because I'm a sucker for kids. But the iPad....*shrug*

The other thing that used to annoy me when we were on trips with my mom was when people would cut us off while I was pushing her wheelchair. I will cop to passive-aggressively clipping some heels in frustration as a teen with her footrests :rolleyes1

By and large I feel like the magic rubs off on people, and most people are really nice and helpful.

You don't know rude until you are on a ECV. People jumping right in front of you - those machines don't stop immediately. Or standing right in front of you during fireworks. Or the best, farting right in your face without even giving an excuse me.

We were waiting for Wishes once and claimed a spot about 30 minutes early. As it was starting this HUGE muscle man (ok, DH and I are both about 5'4" and he was over 6') squeezed in right in front of us and then dragged his kids in... then proceeded to take one kid in each arm. They were both about 6 or so going by size. The three of them were big enough to completely block the view for all 5 of us!
That was rude. We waited for our spot and then had to move. Not on par with murder... I probably encounter people that rude every day but I don't have fireworks for them to block.

When the kids were smaller, we was at Hollywood studios..Went to find a spot for parade was not packed yet..We sat on a curb with our three small children, plenty of room around us..A lady was sitting a bit away from us, as it got more crowded she took off her shoes and stuck them around her for HER family...She kept getting closer to us, then rudely told me she had been sitting here and she was waiting for family..I just looked at her we crowded together and even put our kids on our laps..She still was rude...:confused3

Oh well, then wait until you are behind one of those who paid $25 for the blinking Mickey ears. Distracting doesn't begin to describe it.....especially when you begin to realize that it is NOT keeping time with the music like they claim.....then your head starts to hear a different rhythm in addition to the rhythm actually playing.

:rotfl:

Mine is people who think there's "plenty of room" for their kids to sneak into the front for parades. Our kids were tired after a long day at MK but I really wanted to stay for the Main Street Electrical parade, so we staked out front-row spots very early and ate snacks while DH wandered off. We expected DH to sit somewhere far behind us, but I really wanted to experience the parade sitting next to my kids. Of course, right before it started, a large group sent all their kids to sit in the teeny tiny space between us and a post. We made ourselves as small as we could, with the littlest on my lap, but I was not giving up my spot. They could see that the number of kids did not equal the amount of empty space. :confused3

This, however, was not as rude as the adults we recently encountered at a waterpark hotel "story time." My DD and I arrived early to have front row seats. When the show started, the woman next to us started talking loudly to people behind her, making it impossible to hear. She talked through the whole show, announcing to her friend, "This isn't really the show, the show is when you meet the characters, you have to stay for that, that part's better." Then her kids got bored, since they couldn't hear the show, so they all got up and walked away. :headache:

Exactly!

(It means YOU'RE the sucker...)

If you don't know the sucker at the table...you probably are the sucker.

I got that far LOL So, I'm the rude one? Nah! ;)

Actually, reading this thread, I may have figured out why I have never had a direct run-in with rudeness. We usually don't do the nighttime parades or fireworks at the parks (we watch from somewhere else) and we always go at low-crowd times. That probably helps a lot. Crowds just make everyone grumpy.

Ditto.

My vote is for the family that decides to have a group discussion right outside a ride/attraction thus blocking all the people getting out of the ride/attraction. Can't you see you are causing congestion?

It is so frustrating when people put their kids on their shoulders. It's so important to them that their kids can see the parade or show, they don't care that 20 people behind them can't see a thing! So rude,

What does this even mean? Why would someone hold their phone or ipad in your face? Are you referring to people recording dark shows/attractions? If so, its definitely rude. But if you're referring to people recording MSEP, Wishes, etc., I don't see how it affects you :confused3

:thumbsup2

Most of what I'd consider rude dealt in some way with how people move or don't move. People that stop in the middle of the walkway to talk rather than moving to the side, people that block entrances and exits, people going against the flow when the walkway clearly has sides going both directions, etc.

Overall I didn't encounter many rude people but the congestion frustrated me.

This is the one thing that has happened to us every single time we've gone, whether it's during Spectromagic or Illuminations or a parade. I can't tell you how many time we've picked a spot very early just to have some inconsiderate selfish jerks who think it's all about them plop themselves right in front of us. They don't even care if they sit in front on the street off the sidewalk and when they're asked to move they proceed to push themselves backwards into our space pushing US back. When I complained to one of those jerks once, I was told to F off. Wish there was something that could be done short of getting into a brawl with these morons.
