The Royal Wedding

I didn't watch, but have been looking at pictures. I think Kate looked beautiful and I love the dress. Classy and classic.

I wonder if the London book makers are taking bets on how long the marriage is going to last. With Queeny's propensity to running off princesses she doesn't like. Let me see, they dated 9 years, though she only met the in-laws 2 weeks ago. I guess she was resigned the fact that this thing was really going to happen, so she had to do it. My bet is between 5 and 6 years.

Kate has met various members of the Royal family including HRH The Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla prior to two weeks ago! I'm hoping this is one that will last. The couple have gone into it eyes open, they have dated for 9 years with a variety of ups and downs, they have grown into adults together- this is no whirlwind romance.

I thought Princess Catherine looked stunning and quintessentially Britishly understated (yes I know that's not a word)!

I'm not a Royalist, I'm British and couldn't give two hoots about the Royals typically but this was different- this is the couple that have officially started the revolution of the Royals into the 22st century. Today was an amazing day- I genuinely felt proud to be British- and Brotish austerity doesn't allow us to say that freely often!

I though it was a lovely.

21st century- sorry on my iPhone when I try to edit I can't scroll down my post so that's meant to say 21st century and British :)

Most men in the Royal family don't wear rings. Charles didn't with Diana though he wears on under his signet ring now with his marriage to Camilla.

None of the 4 royal weddings that I have now watched have the couple kissed in the church. I don't believe it's in the official sayings for the wedding ceremony. I don't believe our priest said it and we were married in the Episcopal church which is technically the same as the Church of England. Also this is a royal wedding. Prince William does not like PDAs and they have rarely been seen embracing each other publicly. When they kissed on the balcony you could see him start to blush. He is sooo much like his mother!!!!

Besides the two kisses on the balcony, I LOVED when they drove out of Buckingham Palace in the convertible, just the two of them. I think it really showed how REAL the couple is. It was just soooo sweet! I had dozed off and knew they were leaving the palace at a certain time so I rewound my TIVO!

I'm exhausted but every minute was worth waking up at 3am!

Last night I pulled out my box of Diana memorabilia including the scrapbook I made from her wedding and the books I had purchased over the years. I'll be picking up some papers tomorrow and magazines over the next week for my oldest. She is EXACTLY the same age now that I was when Charles and Diana married give or take 2 days!

Looking forward to the recaps tonight! I can't get enough of the wedding and the beautiful couple!

TTFN :tigger:

she did look beautiful and i too hope it last

but

you know she's not a princess right. she's a duchess. she won't become a princess until charles becomes king and bestows the Prince of Wales on him making her Princess.

Technicalities, technicalities! Hehe!

With the best medical care in the world available to HRH The Queen I imagine it's going to be a while before Princess becomes official, though she's a beautiful Princess and Queen in waiting though :)

That sounded macabre! Sorry- hopefully you all know what I mean! Lol

Wouldn't she be the "Queen Consort" since she has married into the family?

I was able to see the wedding and thought it was beautiful! I loved the dress...classic and elegant (unlike most of the cocktail dress/Vegas show girl dresses that many wear)! I liked the simplicity of the veil...she is a beautiful girl and doesn't need the flashy hairpieces typical updo's to show it off. As with any wedding, I wish them happiness! I also loved the fact that the flower girls looked like little girls....no makeup, sparkles or updo's on them either.

Somewhat like Di, she will be a people's princess and since the monarchy is in need of the breath of fresh air and the restored confidence of the public, the Queen may bestow 'Princess' on her. I hope she will, although it may not happen right away and certainly my opinion doesn't matter a hill of beans! :lmao: Diana was the Princess of Wales due to Charles being given the title of Prince of Wales...she was Diana, Princess of Wales, not Princess Diana of Wales.

Kate also has several titles as wife of William and I believe this is her formal title now: Her Royal Highness Princess William Arthur Philip Louis, Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, Baroness Carrickfergus.

It's all very complicated, isn't it! (...and I could stand corrected, if I have this wrong!)

I have the recipe for the McVities' cake, if anyone is interested. We're going to try it out for Mother's Day. I'll try to post it later on today...

In my search to find a clean audio recording from the wedding for the music, I did find the direct Video that was fed to the media outlets. It has NO ONE talking over it.

I got up at 5:30am Friday to see Kate's arrival at Westminster Abbey, believe me, it's really saying something that I got up so early. I didn't even know why, I knew I could watch a million replays, but I wanted to see it live. When she got out of the car I was a little disappointed by her dress. It didn't have that "Wow" factor and I thought it was too plain, but now that I've seen it more, I just love it. She looked absolutely beautiful walking down the aisle out of the church with William. I hope they are both very happy.

Anyone know what the story was with the trees they put in the church? Is that something traditional or something Kate or William wanted?

Yesterday, I read that Kate chose the trees, because she wanted the appearance of being outdoors.

the trees were because Kate wanted it to feel like her home town which has tons of trees.

it gave it that intimate feel - well..... as intimate as you can get with 2000 there and 2billion watching. lol

I'm sorry...not to be nit-picky, but I have to throw out there that this is incorrect. She is a princess. Her full title is Her Royal Highness Princess William Arthur Philip Louis, Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, Baroness Carrickfergus. She will be known as the Duchess of Cambridge until Charles takes the throne and gives the title of Prince of Wales to William, at which time she'll become the Princess of Wales. If the queen hadn't chosen to give William a dukedom on his wedding day, Catherine would have officially been HRH Princess William of Wales. I might be a little obsessed with British royalty.

found this pic on Facebook thought it was very Cute :)
