Me: No introduction required, I suspect most of you know me by now!
DW: Long suffering DW of the above
Alex: 15 - Coaster and Disney freak
Laura: 13 - Style queen

We were all up at a reasonable time considering the very late night – it was about 8.15. We all showered and dressed (apart from Laura who wanted to stay in bed :confused3 ).

Alison, Alexandra and I went to the food court to have breakfast.

Alison: fruit and yoghurt mix, Danish pastry (plus coffee in refillable mug)
Alexandra: Mickey waffle and bacon, Orange juice
Me: French toast and sausage (plus coffee in refillable mug)
(and we got some toast to take back for Laura)

Total cost $19

It made a change that the sausages used here were European in nature and not the normal “links”.

Laura ate her toast (with Marmite that we’d brought from home) in the room whilst outside it poured with rain.

Bizarre, it’s meant to rain in the afternoon not in the mornings! It was only a short shower though as it had more or less stopped by the time we left the room at around 9.45.

We arrived at “Hollywood Studios” (it’s going to take some time getting used to the name to be honest. Must’ve been a nightmare changing all the stuff over to the new name and getting all the CM’s geared up for it).

We parked in Film 24 and made our way into the park at about 10am (with Alison tutting at the time!) :sad2:

We went over to Toy Story Mania and the queue was MASSIVE and although we enquired, there were not letting any single riders on. The fast pass return time was already 5.20 – 6.20 in the evening - ho hum, we’ll settle for that then!

We went to check out the queues for Tower of Terror (55 minutes – no thanks!) and Rock n Roller Coaster (50 minutes – not much better!). We decided to do RnRC in the single rider queue which was brilliant. We waited a grand total of 5 minutes! :thumbsup2

After riding it once we promptly went and rode it again – it was quicker than using fast pass. The girls and I went and rode it for a third straight time while Alison bought a cold drink and waited for us – 3 times on the trot is beyond her!

The park seems to be very busy today and there were so many Brits! :confused3

From here we made our way over to the Studio Backlot tour – no queues here, although we got thoroughly wet sat right at the back.

We’ve never done the 4D Muppets show before (as the girls hate 3D films) so Alison and I did this while the girls went off somewhere else (I think they went to RnRC, but who knows!)

After we met up again we picked up fast passes for Tower of Terror then made our way over to 50’s Prime Time Café for our 2pm ADR.

The food and service were very good but the interaction was lacking a bit compared to previous times – they seemed a bit pushed, maybe they were short staffed.

TV or not TV - is that the question?

We ate:

2 x Onion Rings for us all to share as a starter

Me: Pot roast, mashed potatoes, veggies
Alison: Chicken Caesar Salad
Girls: 2 x fish and chips

2 puddings to share: Smores, Angel Food Cake

We all had sodas to drink

Total price $95, which we thought was very reasonable.

After lunch we decided to head back to the hotel as we were flagging a bit after our late night. Some went for a snooze, and some went for a sunbathe and swim – I’ll let you decide or take bets on who did what! – LOL

After we’d all recharged our batteries we headed back to MGM (sorry can’t call it Hollywood Studios!) to do the rides we’d missed out earlier.

We did Toy Story Mania first – what an excellent ride. Very good 3D effects – I can see why it’s so popular! I’d love to have done it again and again! I can’t believe what a low score I got but I’m not saying what. (Laura and Alison both beat me - Bah humbug!)

12 Monkeys and no Bruce Willis

After TSM we headed over to Tower of Terror but the girls didn’t want to ride so it was just Alison and I. Excellent ride as always!

We left the park at this point and went to Typhoon Lagoon as it was open until 11pm on EMH. This was to be our only chance to do TL on EMH this holiday as we’re at Universal next Saturday which is the last EMH for TL.

We made the most of it doing all the rides we possibly could, as many times as we could! The only disappointment was that Crush n Gusher was closed (not sure if that was because it was starting to get a bit dark by this point). The rest of the park was open though – and we all spent ages riding the big wave!

We took bottles of drink and large bags of crisps with us, thinking that that would be enough after our large lunch but the girls were still hungry when we left at about 10.30ish so we stopped at McDonalds for 2 kids meals on the way back.

A great day today!

The lines for Toy Story are scary ! im hoping the novelty has worn off before next october :rotfl2:

amazing to read that you did a late typhoon lagoon session. I don't think I have ever read that in a trip report before.

so enjoying it. I am away in spain from friday (for half term) and will miss the other bits so it will give me something to look forward to when I get back.

Thanks

Susan

Shaun,
That was a pretty obscure movie reference you made with the photo of the Milton Bradley Barrel of Monkeys. Personally, I'd be more interested in your spotting Brad Pitt.
Late(ish) start or not, you have my admiration for tacking TL at night after two trips to the Studios (I'm having trouble not saying MGM, too!). Gosh, you've got some willing compatriots. I'm wondering if the girls liking Toy Story Mania has changed their minds about trying a 3D film.

Can I just say what a truly fabulous shot this is? Actually, that's not all I want to say. I want to say, also, that I am enjoying your trippies beyond that which is measurable. :thumbsup2 :teeth:

Ah, I wondered if anyone would pick up on the film title, I'm a big Sci-Fi fan myself.

The troops are "brain-washed" commando's after all these years, it's been drummed into them to double-march :dance3: - LOL

TL or BB at night feels really special and totally different to the daytime, almost something "naughty" about being there.

Deb - Actually Alison took that picture, I just thought :confused3 and let her get on with it but it turned out well.

Great day. I couldn't get my head round Hollywood Studios either. I called it MGM for the first fortnight and by the end of the 3rd week I was managing to call it the Studios.

Hey - did I really take that picture! I'm quite impressed myself! I thought Shaun pinched it from the internet! LOL!

Glad you enjoyed Toy Story - we think it's a great ride too. Managed to do it 6 times when we went recently - there at rope drop 3 times and collected FP first, then rode in standby before the queues built up to hours long!

Typhoon Lagoon at night time sounds great!

Really enjoying your trip reports!

fab day- I'm with you on the whole DHS/MGM things it's just not the same :confused3

Great day again-i am loving your trippie :thumbsup2 .I can't wait for TSM next year :cool1: .
Your pot roast looked so delicious.
''12 Monkeys+no Bruce Willis''-nice one :thumbsup2 :lmao: .x.

Lovely report and photos. I am not into those gerkin things that appear in a lot of American dishes, did try one once.
