The Return of Futurama!!!

So last night on Craig Ferguson Katie Segal confirmed that indeed Comedy Central has ordered upwards of 26 new episodes of Futurama!

Billy West on his web site has also confirmed this information.

I don't know if there are any other fans of this show out there...but this news made me a trifle bit giddy...no check that...I was psyched!!!

What's insane about it is that's been sort of an on again, off again prospect for a couple of months now. Every time West would mention something about it David X Cohen would shoot it down saying it wasn't happening.

THEN...Segal goes on television says she's already signed the contracts...and now we find out they start recording in July!!!

My hope is it'll be ready for mid-season replacements of 2007!

I liked the new movie, but I can see how someone who wasn't a total Futurama nerd wouldn't get a lot of it. The best part was the special features...like the math lecture...awesome. Oh, and I think I can now watch Jurassic Park without collapsing into a sobbing mess.

I did buy and watch Bender's Big Score although I did fall asleep during part of it....(hangs head in shame).

At 22 minutes long, I don't think I could have taken that ENTIRE selection. We did, however, fast forward through it, stopping whenever something changed.

I really enjoyed the math lecture and am looking forward to watching the DVD again with the commentary track(s) turned on.
