Day7
Up bright and early and found ourselves standing outside the Magic Kingdom wide awake and raring to go at 7.40am. Had to show our room keys to get in. The aim of today is to see if we can manage to do every attraction in the park in one day.
We were very close to the rope so we got a good start when it finally dropped. Lots of people ran, we powered walked, thought we would look sad running towards Dumbo without a child in tow. We walked straight onto Dumbo at 8.01am, you get a good view from Dumbo of the demolision taking place at the old under the sea ride, cant remember its name. Once off Dumbo we rode Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh and then the tea cups. From the tea cups we were supposed to head to Snow White but I noticed the Speedway was opened so we went there instead. It already had a 15 minute wait but at least at this time the heat was bearable. Our plan was going along smoothly until the car in front of us broke down meaning we were stuck. After what seemed like hours but was probably only minutes the occupant of the car was rescued by a CM and we were soon on our way again. By now it was 8.50am so we headed over to Frontierland to wait for the rope drop to get to the mountains.
When we reached the mountains we discovered Big Thunder was closed and no-one seemed to know when it might re-open. Couldnt get near the fast pass machine at Splash so we decided we would use one of the fast passes we got the other night when we complained about Audrey and would ride later. Decided to go and conquer Adventure Land. Went to Pirates of the Caribbean first and I was given an electronic card at the entrance to hand over to the CM as I boarded the ride, this is how they monitor the wait time. I felt very special (I can be a sad person at times). After Pirates we went to Jungle Cruise and our skipper was the hilarious Nathan who was earning his ears. He was brilliant, absolutely hysterical. When we got to the end of the ride we had to wait before he could get to the dock as they were bringing out another boat. CM Christopher who was on the dock at the time entertained us by doing some Highland dancing. When we eventually docked CM Christopher, who was trying to be cool, jumped into our boat however he lost his footing and almost fell flat on his face. He did recover with style and dignity and a red face!!! We all laughed. Next up was Aladdin which was just like Dumbo only we could tilt, no more to say really. Then we climbed the Swiss Family Treehouse and climbed down again. Why is the kitchen at the bottom and the dining room at the top? Wouldnt the food be cold by the time they got it up all those stairs?
The tiki room show had just started so we decided to come back later for this and went over to Country Bears Jamboree. We timed this perfectly and walked right in. Fell asleep after a few minutes. After my snooze we grabbed some popcorn (we did pay for it we didnt just grab) and went onto the Liberty Belle. Tricia took lots of photographs and I ate the popcorn whilst sitting in the smallest bit of shade I could find, lots of people fell over me. It was getting really HOT now, when we got off the Belle we went over and joined the line for Goofys Country Dancin Jamboree. The air conditioning was very welcome. Was enjoying the show and was wondering when they added smoke effects when I realised that it wasnt smoke it was blurriness and this was due to my right contact lens falling out. Managed to catch it and pop it into contact lens storage thing. Left here and went over to Columbia Harbour House for lunch. I was so hungry, I had only had one breakfast and some popcorn. Tricia ordered while I went to wash my hands and put my lens back in. Lunch was lovely, I had a tuna sandwich and Tricia had ham and cheese (not sure if they didnt have chicken on the menu). After lunch we went to Hall of Presidents.
Over to Tom Sawyers Island next and had a walk around and reapplied suncream. Also noticed that Thunder mountain was up and running. Off the island and onto Thunder Mountain using fast pass from complaining about Audrey and then onto Splash using last remaining fast pass from complaining about Audrey. (E-mail from Disney to say they are investigating the complaint and will get back to me within a few weeks. If they dont I will be contacting them again). After the mountains which were awesome we went onto the train, had to let the first train go while I ate my Itzakadoozie or whatever its called. Got off the train at Toontown and went to visit Mickey and Minnies houses. Minnie was in her garden with Pluto but Mickey was out, think he was away to Walmart for some groceries because his cupboards were bare. He is a very trusting mouse leaving his house open for strangers to wander in and out, good job his furniture is nailed to the floor. Next we went to Donalds boat which still doesnt have any water then I had a shot on Goofys barnstormer. Tricia wont ride this anymore, she id it once and was terrified, shell do Tower of Terror but this scares her.
Next up we got a spot on Main Street for the parade. We were both really hot and in need of a break so we decided to head back to the hotel for an hour after the parade. Parade was good but I still prefer Magical Moments parade. Waved to Tigger and did a high five with Chip or Dale. Left park with the masses and got on the bus just as the rain started. Thunder and lightning had kicked in by the time we got to Port Orleans. Got something to eat in food court and then ran through the puddles and bouncing rain back to room after waiting for almost an hour for the lightning to stop. We were soaked, and when the air conditioning in the room hit us, freezing. Turned the heating on but the room smelt like the building was burning so we put air con back on but turned it down and I got into bed. Found Harry Potter on TV and started to watch it. We both fell asleep and when I woke up it was 7.15pm.
We decided there was no point in returning to Magic Kingdom to complete our mission as we didnt have enough time left so at 8pm we got the bus to Downtown Disney, we were going to go on the boat but it was closed. We had fun shopping and used the discount on our APs. Good savings in World of Disney when you spend amounts that we do. Also got an AP discount at Basin. Had a wander through Pleasure Island and watched 80z Stars. Didnt stay till the end of their performance, wasnt that impressed. Got bus back to hotel at 11pm and had some pizza on our return and then went to bed.
Day 8
Up bright And early again and were standing up against the rope in Blizzard Beach waiting for it to drop at 8.45am. Two lifeguards were standing at the rope talking about a snake that had been in the lazy river the previous day and how 7 people swam past it without noticing before the lifeguard got it out. Made a mental note to look carefully in the lazy river.
When the rope dropped we were the first people to arrive at the wave pool so we got beds with an umbrella to give us some shade. Noticed they have added tubes to the wave pool, like it. Went for a bob about on a tube in the wave pool and then went to do some slides. Headed straight to the 3 flumes of to the left side of the park grabbed myself a tube and climbed the hundreds of stairs to the top. When I finally got there I was the only person there, apart from the CMs. Went down the enclosed flume as this is my favourite after a quick chat with the CM. When I got to the bottom I decided to have another go seeing as it was so quiet. When I got back to the top there was still no-one around so had another chat with the CM and then went down again. Next I went to the Toboggan Racers and a couple turns here and then a turn on the Snow Stormer. From here I went to the lazy river and remembering the conversation from earlier I went on a tube that had the bottom covered. I figured if a snake went under me then it couldnt bite me. I did ¾ of a circuit without seeing a snake and returned to Tricia at the lounger. She had got some doughnuts so I ate them and then listened to some music, I also fell asleep and got some sunburn on one arm. When I woke up I went back into the wave pool and jumped into a tube. After 40 minutes of bobbing up and down I started to feel sea sick so I got out and we decided to head back to the hotel. Only waited a few minutes for a bus.
Later on we went to MGM to see the parade, this one is one of my favourites and I prefer it to Share a Dream Come True. After the parade we went to see Millionaire and the man in the hot seat got to the $1million question. When he first got into the seat the host asked him who he was with he said he was on his own, his family were doing other attractions in the park. A voice shouted out from the crowd and he discovered his mother and sister were there too. It was so exciting and when he got the $250,000 correct (after taking advice from a complete stranger who guessed the answer) the whole place went wild. When he gave his answer to hit the $1million I was shaking with nerves for him so god only knows how he must have felt. Sadly he got it wrong but it had been so exciting and he seemed to have enjoyed himself.
After Millionaire we returned to the hotel. I wasnt feeling too good, think I had too much sun at Blizzard Beach. We got something to eat at the hotel and I went to bed and watched some TV and drank loads of water. I felt better when I turned the light out at 11pm. No rain again today!!!
Day 9
Seeing as this is our relaxing trip we relaxed this morning and didnt get up until 9am. Once we were ready we went over to the food court for breakfast and then went to South Depot to get the bus to Downtown Disney. While sitting on the bench I felt something tickly on my right leg. I looked down expecting to find a leaf or something and discovered a little baby lizard was walking up my leg!!! I flicked it off and it landed on the ground. The bus came a few minutes later so I dont know if he recovered.
We got off the bus at Pleasure Island and went round to Disney Quest. The line to get in was huge, there were loads of groups waiting to get in ( loads of kids so we assumed it was Summer camps or out of school care groups). When we got in we played the Buzz Lightyear game, the one in the cars were you gather the balls and shoot them at the other cars. We went up to the replay zone and bought game cards and managed to accumulate 1536 points between us and then exchanged them for gifts that we didnt need though we did get 2 water bomb sling shots that I gave to my friends twins and they loved them. Had a quick look on the internet as I had to catch up with the latest goings on in the UK Big Brother house. We returned to the hotel about 3.30pm and spent some time in the pool.
In the evening we went to the Magic Kingdom. When we arrived we had some dinner in Tomorrowland. When we gave our order the CM asked if we were Scottish, we told her we were and she said there is a Scottish guy working in the kitchen and she never understands anything he says and we sounded just like him. She said she finds our accent stronger than the Irish. I was impressed she knew the difference.
Once we had been fed and watered we went to the Carousel of Progress and everyone joined in singing Theres a great big beautiful tomorrow which I love so this was fun, it was like mass karaoke without the words on a screen. Next up we rode the TTA with 4 CM in the car behind us, they did wait in the line. Next up was Buzz (we had got fast passes before we ate). We went over to the arcade at Space Mountain and had 3 games of Air Hockey. I won every time much to my delight. I am extremely competitive and do not take defeat graciously. We then headed down Main Street looking in all the shops and spending money and then watched Wishes from the end of Main Street. I think Wishes is now my favourite night time thing at WDW. After Wishes we got on the train and did a full circle of the park. We went round to Frontierland to see the 11pm showing of Spectro Magic and it was so deserted that you could count the number of people standing at the ropes. Next to us was a mother and her 2 children and across from us 3 people. We got lots of character interaction, it was fantastic. Returned to resort at 12.30am and got off the bus at the East Depot and had to run the gauntlet of sprinklers to get to our building.
No rain again today!!! Went to bed after setting wake up call for 8am (2 long lies in 2 days, we are spoiling ourselves).
Day 10
Phone ringing woke us up at 8am. I lifted the receiver and slammed it down again. Obviously done it to quick as it rang again 5 minutes later. Got up and organised and had breakfast in the food court. Jumped on bus to Downtown Disney as we were going to the cinema. Tricia said we were too early but I assured her it would be open. Arrived at 10am and surprise surprise it was closed. Seeing as we were too early for the cinema we jumped in a taxi and went to the Orlando Premium Outlets and had some fun shopping. Got carried away again. We went to the food court for a drink and a seat and I sat staring at my shopping wondering how I was going to get it home. At the table next to us a woman was conducting a group interview with 4 people for a job in a store. I thought it was a strange venue for an interview but maybe its just me. I listened carefully to their answers and thought that the girl in the black top with the brown hair was most suitable. After our short break we got a taxi back to Downtown Disney and had lunch in Planet Hollywood. I had grilled salmon which was gorgeous and Tricia had some chicken concoction.
Returned our shopping to resort and went for a swim. It was so hot today that the pool was warmer than the water I would have in a bath. When I started to swim I discovered I had a really sore shoulder but could not work out how or when I had hurt it. Had a chat with a woman from England who was going home the next day, she didnt want to leave. We were also leaving Port Orleans Riverside the next day but we were switching resorts. After an hour or so we returned to the room and got showered and then went to MGM.
We went to Sounds Dangerous which was ruined by an annoying group at the front who thought it clever to shout, chant and scream throughout as well as flash a torch repeatedly. The CM only told them to stop when someone in the audience screamed at them to shut up!!! Had some dinner after this and then saw the Little Mermaid which is one of my favourites. Next up we did Muppet Vision3D which I love then we went into Pizza Planet for a few games of air hockey. As soon as I took my first hit I realised how I had hurt my shoulder, it was from playing this game at the Magic Kingdom. As I am so competitive I had to ignore the pain and I successfully won 3 games to 1. The security man who was standing near our table was looking at me like I was something possessed. Each time I scored he laughed. Left here and went to Tower of Terror. I complained the whole way about my arm being sore. When we got to Tower of Terror the wait time was posted as 20 minutes so we joined the line which was HUGE!!! At 9.50pm an announcement was made saying that the ride was closing due to technical difficulties. The man in front of me reckoned the CMs wanted to get home early so they invented the problem. Went to see the 10.30pm showing of Fantasmic and then returned to Port Orleans. When we got in we started to pack as we are moving to the Wilderness Lodge tomorrow. The plan was that we would shove the bags we had used as hand luggage on the way here into the hold-alls. Unfortunately due to all the shopping I had accumulated this was never going to happen. In the end most of my new clothes were in a back pack and by the time we were finished we had 2 large bulging hold-alls, a bulging back pack, a bulging sports bag and a 2 carrier bags. We were going to have to buy another bag for getting this stuff home. I did lots of I told you so to Tricia. Before we came she had been adamant that we wouldnt her to bring her extra hold-all as we both had so much space. Finally got to bed approx 1am. Never had any rain again today.
