Will They Let Us In?

I have a dessert party reservation for July 20th at Magic Kingdom, and we were hoping to head to the park in the evening for this. My fear is that the park will be at capacity due to the new parade debuting that day, will they still let us in if we have a reservation?
Thanks

They cannot override capacity, as that is a safety issue. An ADR, even a fully paid one, has never been a guaranteed admission to a park that has reached the final capacity level. However, the parks rarely reach capacity these days, especially the final capacity level where no one can be admitted. They have required APs to make park reservations to control how many will be admitted to the park that day (which I believe have already sold out) and Disney can control crowds by limiting how many date based tickets are sold. If you have a ticket that entitles you to be in the park that day, I believe you’ll get in just fine.

It would probably be a good idea to get to MK as early as you can, in case there are a lot of other people trying to do the same. If it were me, I would plan to be in the park at least a couple of hours ahead of time.

I THINK that they have to. I can't imagine it will be at capacity though. That's pretty uncommon.
I would not be at all surprised if the park reaches capacity on Jul 20th and possibly other days.

What time is your dessert party? If the park does reach capacity there will likely be some that leave after the fist parade.

I’m honestly not sure if an ADR guarantees entrance?

Hoping it’s fine but this parade is one of the biggest new additions we’ve had in many years.

Historically they have used phased closures, so it’s not just open to all one minute and then closed to all people the next minute. ADRs have gotten priority over others, at least until that final phase where nobody can be let in. Here is a good run down of how things have been handled previously:

Things can change, so it’s always best to see what is posted on WDW site.

Eta- Dessert parties are considered an ADR

We plan to give it at least a few weeks before we attempt to see the new nighttime parade. I especially wouldn’t go one of the first couple of nights when it’ll be packed with bloggers and their devices, blocking my view and oozing entitlement. But YMMV…
