The Real Housewives of WDW - 11/15: In Closing

Okay, so I'm not the only one who doesn't quite thrill over the Great Movie Ride? I was so disappointed by it when I first rode. I mean, they do a nice job, but all the extra bits they throw in there are just kinda silly for me.

The Plan was to meet Lauralee (LL) and Tracy (T) at MGM, er… Disney Studios (DS) for rope drop. And we all know how critical rope drop is at DS if you entertain any thoughts of riding Toy Story Mania, right? Especially if one is attempting to do so during one of the busiest weeks of the year.
DUDE. You missed it!
Can I just throw in a little bit of what happened before you got there? :goodvibes

So, Andy, Maddie, Evan and I made to DHS and were lucky enough to get right up the the turnstyles behind a family of ECV's. Yes, a FAMILY of ECV's. Now, here's where being brown helped....
There was a latina CM who flagged Andy over to chat with her and she told him they would open all the turnstyles right before opening. So she and Andy waved us over allllll the way to the left. And sure enough, we were like the first person in. AND, I booked it over to the rope and actually got to hold the rope!:rotfl2:

Ooh and you also missed the most perfect stroller release of ALL time! It was perfect and even impressed the men-folk. :thumbsup2

Via text messages, I learned that T and LL were in line for Tower of Terror. I was to drop Leo off with their husbands (because they don’t ride it and neither will Leo), and come find them in the Fast Pass (FP) line
At least that’s how I interpreted the directions.
Yeah. Sorry about that.

We’ve all heard the horror stories of nasty, rude, inconsiderate Brazilian Tour Groups, right? Well, this particular group was none of those things. I explained my plight to the nice boys at the tail end of their group, saying that my party was up ahead and asking if it would be okay for me to snake through to reach them?
:rotfl2: That's 'cause they weren't Brazilians. 'Member? After reading their t-shirts we realized they weren't even Brazilian? I can't remember what country they were from, but they were South American. I remember they spoke Spanish, not Portuguese. :scratchin: Chiliean? Dang, I can't remember.

Lucky for me, I have very good friends. LL and T insisted that I stay in line and get my ride on. They accepted me as I was, grumpiness and all, and made me do what they knew was best for me.

I know – it’s an awful attempt at rednecking the ride photo. But there’s me and LL in the front, viewer’s left, arms up. And Maddie, T and Evan on the viewer’s right. DO IT AGAIN, DO IT AGAIN!!!
Do it again, indeed. Can you believe I can get her on ToT here? She'll only ride in WDW and only if you and LL are there.

She did it!!!
Snatching this one! :thumbsup2

We split up after that. Everyone else wanted to take one more trip to Endor before Star Tours as we knew it went away. Everyone except Leo, who won’t touch the ride. Not even with heaps of peer pressure. Oh well, that’ll serve him well later in life.

Leo and I opted for air conditioning in the form of the Not-So-Great Movie Ride. Also known as Pathetic Movie Ride. And What’s-So-Great-About-This Movie Ride?
I'm confused... did Leo ride it twice? I thought I had Leo and M with me when we rode it whilst you and LL rode RnR? It's all a blur.... :lmao:

It was getting to lunch time. T and LL had made reservations at the Brown Derby. I had never planned on being in DS until lunch time. I was going to take Leo back to Kidani for some grub, but was talked into trying to squeeze into the Derby with T and LL. They had plenty of room for us all, so we stayed!
I'm so glad you stayed! It was really a fun lunch. Our server was superb that day.

Next: Will rain thwart our attempt at Pool:30 AGAIN? And the best meal I’ve had at WDW in ages. Really.
Ooh!! I can't wait to find out what happens next!popcorn::

Yay Maddie :yay: I just told Ellie that Evan and Maddie now ride ToT and she said she didn't care if little kids did it she still won't :rotfl:

Your meal sounds great and I now need to know who was on the phone :rotfl:

They. Could. Not. Have. Been. Nicer.

Awesome. Especially after reading about Nebo's encounter with the tour groups :sacred:

But when I reached the end of their group, nearly at the point where I’d need to magically cough up the FP I did not have in my possession, I still didn’t see T or LL. Where were they?!

They were…

In the STAND-BY line.

OH SNAP!!!

Oops!:guilty:

It was an extra-special ride, too, because Maddie worked up her brave to ride for the first time! I’m really glad I was there to share in that. :woohoo:

So, who was calling us?! I can’t tell. ;) But I highly recommend dining at the Brown Derby and finding out for yourself!

Tease:headache:

Is the one there different? We didn't ride when we were there becasue we wanted to concentrate on the things that were different!

Um, weren't you there:confused:;)

We’ve all heard the horror stories of nasty, rude, inconsiderate Brazilian Tour Groups, right? Well, this particular group was none of those things. I explained my plight to the nice boys at the tail end of their group, saying that my party was up ahead and asking if it would be okay for me to snake through to reach them?

With a dazzling display of bright white smiles, the boys enthusiastically nodded “yes”, put a hand behind my back to lead me forward and shouted ahead to let me through. And folks, that sea of green T-shirts parted as neatly as, well, you know, a sea parting. All along the way, these lovely teens smiled at me as I repeated my mantra of “So sorry – thank you! – excuse me – thanks again!” And they continued to shout ahead to their comrades, ensuring me a safe, quick journey through their ranks. They. Could. Not. Have. Been. Nicer.

Ok, so I have a friend, who I used to work with, who is from Brazil. And she did the traditional 'you're 16 so we're sending you to Disney with all the other 16-year-olds' trip. And she explained that a lot of them are snotty, and entitled and just the epitome of the "terrible" that many of us have experienced. And that she found that embarrassing. But she said that a lot of them are so very thankful for the opportunity to spend that much time in such a fun place and aren't rude in the slightest. That she wished more of that came through. She'd be delighted to hear about your story. :goodvibes

Not-So-Great Movie Ride. Also known as Pathetic Movie Ride. And What’s-So-Great-About-This Movie Ride?

And yet I ride it every. Single. Trip. :confused3

HI, great report of what I read so far but I have alot more to go. I just found this today!

So glad to see that your day got better and better! Great friends are the best! Now I am intrigued to see who calls at the Brown Derby! Better put that restaurant on my list too! So excited to hear where you go later that day... the best meal in ages?! I'm SO curious!!!

So happy it all got better and hoping it stayed that way. And, that pool-30 was a success

Okay, so I'm not the only one who doesn't quite thrill over the Great Movie Ride?
Not by along-shot, lol! Though I'll admit, I like it well enough when MGM first opened... but good golly, it's time for an update!

DUDE. You missed it!

Yeah. Sorry about that.
Wasn't your fault - it seriously was NOT my day! :sad2:
That's 'cause they weren't Brazilians. 'Member? After reading their t-shirts we realized they weren't even Brazilian? I can't remember what country they were from, but they were South American. I remember they spoke Spanish, not Portuguese. :scratchin: Chiliean? Dang, I can't remember.
For real?! :lmao: I can't remember that! Maybe Argentinian? How funny.
She'll only ride in WDW and only if you and LL are there.
Aw, next time I want to be her ride buddy! :goodvibes
I'm confused... did Leo ride it twice? I thought I had Leo and M with me when we rode it whilst you and LL rode RnR?
OMG, did he?! :rotfl2: He never said!
I'm so glad you stayed! It was really a fun lunch.
 Me too, and it was!

I just told Ellie that Evan and Maddie now ride ToT and she said she didn't care if little kids did it she still won't :rotfl:
Has she secretly been chatting with Leo?!
Your meal sounds great and I now need to know who was on the phone
Come back to the States and find out! ;)

Jimmy likes this one:confused3
Leo, too. They have "interesting" taste. ;)
You don't speak or read Spanish....so are you sure:rolleyes1
Yeah, T! :rotfl:

But she said that a lot of them are so very thankful for the opportunity to spend that much time in such a fun place and aren't rude in the slightest. That she wished more of that came through.
That's really nice to hear! And in all honesty, over the eyars, I've encountered many more nice groups than I have not-nice. :goodvibes

HI, great report of what I read so far but I have alot more to go. I just found this today!
HI there! Welcome aboard and take your time - it's not going anywhere!

So glad to see that your day got better and better!
Thanks - it was quite a relief!
Now I am intrigued to see who calls at the Brown Derby! Better put that restaurant on my list too!
::yes:: It's a winner!

So happy it all got better and hoping it stayed that way. And, that pool-30 was a success
Thanks - we shall see! :rolleyes1 ;)

Nice to hear about a good encounter with a Brazilian group!! Usually you only hear those horror stories!!

I've eaten at the Brown Derby a couple of times, but never knew about a phone call. :confused3

Movie Ride....yes, you hit the best part....AIR CONDITIONING!!! :thumbsup2

Yay Maddie :yay: I just told Ellie that Evan and Maddie now ride ToT and she said she didn't care if little kids did it she still won't :rotfl:

Your meal sounds great and I now need to know who was on the phone :rotfl:

I'm with Ellie !!!I don't care who rides it as long as it is NOT me !!!:rotfl2:

I've eaten at the Brown Derby a couple of times, but never knew about a phone call. :confused3
I've seen it before, but this was the first time anyone in my group had received the call. It was fun!

I'm with Ellie !!!I don't care who rides it as long as it is NOT me !!!:rotfl2:
:rotfl2:

I'm so curious who was on the phone with you Hollywood celebrities.
Okay, okay, I'll divulge...

SPOILER ALERT! Back on outta this TR if you don't want the surprise Brown Derby phone call revealed to you...

Who was on the phone? It was...

Minnie. And Goofy. Possibly Mickey? Yeah, the call itself wasn't that exciting. But being selected to receive it was quote the thrill! Maybe we were just befuddled by the heat, though. :rotfl:

I'm sorry your morning started out roughly. We had a couple of those too on our last trip. Wouldn't it be crazy to think that each day should be happy, perfect and sunny though? ;) We're human and have feelings. And some of those feelings are not so cheerful ones sometimes. It looks like you shook the funk and had an awesome afternoon with your good friends and that's all that counts, right? :)

I think the GMR would be much more entertaining if this were to come into reality:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsC13hlOG38
OMG, hysterical! As was the response video below it, "I'm on a tram!" :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

You're welcome! Sorry it wasn't more thrilling. ;)

Let's just say I really needed to laugh today.
You brought me right to splash mountain.
 Happy to help! I could use some Splash, myself, this week.
