Before you start reading, I will tell you that, even more so than yesterdays, this isn't a report containing interesting information about which exciting rides we did, or what yummy food we ate!! You have been warned.......

We had a fairly disturbed night, but managed to get up in time to get over to Sequoia Lodge to meet up with Di and Rhiannon for about 9. We hadn't made a firm decision about where we would meet, and Amy and I sat in the main lobby until I eventually sent a text. As they were waiting for us in the downstairs lobby we took a bit of time to meet up!! Walking to the park I ended up carrying Amy quite a lot, as she had gone very peaky and said she felt sick again! We got to the park without any incidents, and as I had already decided that I would rent a pushchair for Amy, I went off to sort it out - leaving poor Di and Rhiannon waiting once again!! The pushchair rental place is "interesting" - I can't imagine how they cope at peaktimes! As I was waiting, a very kind man offered to get one for me, as he was an annual passholder. I know they aren't that expensive, but as we ended up only having the thing for about an hour and half, it was a stroke of luck really!! Amy seemed happier not having to walk and, finally, we headed off for the Fantasyland Breakfast - it's certainly fun being allowed through the rope and passed the people having to wait, and then walking through a deserted Fantasyland. I'm sure the breakfast was fine, but I was really too concerned about Amy to be able to enjoy it properly. Amy nibbled a bit of cereal and pastry and, shortly after Di and Rhiannon had returned with their breakfast, announced that she wanted to go on Dumbo. Now I really to try and teach my children good manners, and normally I would have told her to wait until we had all finished. But under the circumstances I decided to do what she wanted - in the hope that if we got there quickly, she wouldn't have to be waiting in a queue for too long. As it turned out, it was a bad decision. It was raining a bit as we came out of the restaurant and the queue was already quite long. But we joined it anyway and hoped for the best - which didn't happen!!! It started to rain heavily, and by the time it was our turn the seats were soaking and it was not a pleasant experience. I rather ineffectually tucked Amy under my coat, and she whimpered all the way round!! And lovely Di was there just in time to take the photographic evidence of our very sad situation!!! Amy was so miserable when we got off that the only thing we could do was head back to our room. By this time the pushchair was soaked too, so I begged a carrier bag from a shop and we headed out of the park - just as the rain stopped!! Once again I had to carry Amy most of the way to the bus and we were both very happy to get back to our room and dry off. We turned up the heating and settled in for a couple of hours. We did go down to the bar where I tried to tempt Amy with a sandwich and some milk - but no go. She did enjoy a bit of retail therapy though, and chose a little Sleeping Beauty snow globe - after spending quite a while checking out the shop's entire stock!

She seemed much better now and she wanted to go and see Animagique again, so we decided to go back to the park in time for the final performance of the day. We waited for the bus which we found to be a very useful way to get around - I've never really had the need to rely on them so much before! But as soon as we got off, she said she felt sick again - and she was!! She was a little quiet walking to the Studios, but when we got there she wanted to go on the Flying Carpets again. By this point I was constantly asking her if she was okay and had a sick bag within easy reach!! And I certainly didn't get any better when we went inside for Animagique!! But she thoroughly enjoyed it again, and when we came out she saw several characters that she wanted to meet. Now, I've read quite a lot of posts about how annoying it is not having the queueing system for meeting characters that they have in the US - but I've quietly always thought it was rather nice just being able to go up to character without it being regimented. But that was probably because I just want to watch the characters, and have never wanted to have my photo taken with them. Now that my little girl wants to meet the characters and have her photo taken, I realise that the queueing system is actually a blessing. She managed to meet Jessie and Lilo and, unsurprisingly, Ugly Duckling from Chicken Little was not a problem at all!!

Unfotunately Stitch and Woody were almost impossible to get near. All credit to Amy though, she was really good about it, and didn't get upset at all. We walked back through Studio 1 and managed to coincide with another performance of the cinefolies which, once again, Amy was keen to see! Then another trip round the shops - oh joy!! Amy said she was hungry and we decided to walk back through the Village. Went to New York Style Sandwiches for a nibble of chicken nuggets and chips and then tried to make our way back to NBC. Our usual way was blocked off as it was the last of the Bonfire Spectaculars this evening, so with a heavy heart predicting having to carry a heavy child, we turned round to head back via the Hotel New York and Sequoia Lodge!! Very happily for me, and for her, Amy seemed to be much better and thoroughly enjoyed her walk round the lake and watching the ice skating at the Hotel New York.

Now although we hadn't spent the day in the Disneyland Park with Di and Rhiannon, as planned, we were still counting on the Bonfire Spectacular as a chance to meet up again. But Amy said she didn't want to go....!!! So in the end I asked them to come and visit us in our room, tempting them with promises of opening the mini bar! Again Amy and I chilled out in our room, watching a strange mixture of TV programs to pass the time. I did manage to pop out and view a few minutes of fireworks from the window at the end of our corridor. I even got Amy to come and have a look. She wowed over them for a couple of minutes and then wanted to go back to the room!! It was sometime after 9 when we finally saw Di and Rhiannon again, and had a really nice chat - and didn't even go any where near the mini bar!! It was my only regret of the trip - that I didn't have a chance to spend more time with them. Of course, for their part, they may have been very gratefu about thisl!! Amy was full of beans and playing with her toys while we chatted, and I couldn't imagine what time she would want to go to sleep. But after about half an hour she suddenly said that she was tired, crawled into bed and fell asleep while we were still talking. Di now assumes that Amy is a model child, but I have never known her do anything like this before!!!! We said our goodbyes at about 10 when they decided they really must go and get something to eat...and probably to drink...and probably do a bit more shopping!! Soon after that I was tucked up in bed, like the good little girl that I am, ready for our early morning departure.

It may sound like our trip was a bit of a disaster, but both Amy and I had a great time. I adore my daughter, but I do find her quite a handful and sometimes we just don't gel. But somehow we spent over two days in each others constant company and we got on really well. She behaved so well, despite obviously feeling pretty grotty at times, and consequently I behaved well too!! And in that respect it was a very successful trip!!

Shortly after Di and Rhiannon had returned with their breakfast, Amy announced that she wanted to go on Dumbo. Now I really do try and teach my children good manners, and normally I would have told her to wait until we had all finished. But under the circumstances I decided to do what she wanted
That's ok Becky - we didn't mind clearing up the remains of your breakfasts for you! At least it was better than clearing up sick!!! We know our place!!!!! :rotfl2:

Amy was very polite, well-behaved, well-spoken and pretty as a picture. Can't imagine how she turned out like that!!! :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

Becky, this so reminded me of our summer trip as each child took it in turns to use carrier bags.
As you say though, you had good mother daughter time and that is a bonus.
Amy looks so happy in the photographs.
Amazing how quickly they can change from being fine, to sick and back to fine again :)

I am so glad you had a good time despite everything!!! :goodvibes Our youngest was sick all over the floor of Chuck Wagon cafe on our first trip and had gastric flu the 2nd and we still had a great time [even him!!!!]. Couldn't be a nicer place to be ill - and DLRP does give you the opportunity to spend such a lovely time together :) .Amy looks really contented in all the photos.

Never mind - you'll just have to go back again!!! ;)

Yes, that was very fortunate!! ;) And I do hope I'll get a chance to meet up with her and Rhiannon again - though it will be interesting to hear what they think about that idea!! :teeth:

Never mind - you'll just have to go back again!!!

It's funny you should say that Kaye.....!! ;)

That made lovely reading Becky. Lovely photos too, especially of your favourite, the New York! Amy is a lovely little girl, that's a great photo of her with Lilo!

Oops, I have just realised I have said "lovely" 3 times!

By this point I was constantly asking her if she was okay and had a sick bag within easy reach!!

OMG this rings so true!! It's like when you are potty training too - "Do you need the toilet? Are you sure? Are you sure you're sure? Why don't you just try anyway as we are by a toilet" etc etc ...........

Sounds like you made the best of it, ajnd I do think it would be a dream come true to take one DD to DLP. Because I would have to go another time with the other one LOL

Wonderful report and simply gorgeous pictures, your little girl is beautiful. Glad your trip turned out so well despite the illness.

Diane

That Disney Magic even works when things don't go to plan!

Amy is adorable and I'm glad that you still had a good time despite her feeling poorly.

The photos are lovely!

It's funny, but for most of the time, it didn't seem to put a dampner on us having a happy time together - it must be that Disney magic. :wizard:

Thank you everyone, for your lovely comments!!! :goodvibes I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And the comments about Amy make me feel like a very proud mum!!! :cloud9: But she's a right little madam too!!! ;)

Although it didn't go as planned Becky, as others have said the main thing is that you got to spend some quality time with Amy, and in such a fantastic place. I hope Ol also enjoyed his time with Zoe at home. :goodvibes

Well done on doing your trippie so quickly - I'm impressed!

I'm glad that you still managed to have a lovely time.
