We flew out Sat evening 061502 out of BWI on SWA. My two nephews had never flown on a commerical plane and were very excited. We got to the airport extra early so we could be sure to sit together. With SWA there is open seating so it is first come first serve with the seats. I can't imagine why it would be more expensive to just assign the seats up front. Oh well we had a smooth flight into MCO and were very happy to find our driver John from Yourride waiting for us on time and in the place he said he would be. By the time we left the airport it was close to 11 PM but John took us to the Goodings grocery store anyway in spite of the late hour. Goodings was quite expensive but cheaper than buying all our food at the food court so I was happy.

We arrived at the ASMo's and check in went pretty smooth. Being that it was kind of late there were not a lot of people in line. We were allowed to charge $500.00 to our key to the world card. You were allowed to charge more but only after transfering the first $500.00 onto a credit card. I am only mentioning this because we thought it funny that at the AKL you are allowed to charge $1.500 dollars. We were still the same people with the same income but viewed differently because of where we were staying.

We were placed in the Buzz Light Year section in building # 10. Our rooms were 950 and 951 which were connected. Our rooms faced the back parking lot that the food court trucks used. Every morning around 5:30 AM I would hear a beep, beep, beep of the trucks as they backed up to unload their goods. I am a light sleeper so I heard them every morning even when wearing ear plugs. My sister who tends to be a heavy sleeper only heard them once.

The rooms were very cute but small. I liked the cartoon shaped headboards of the beds and the childen were fascinated with the popcorn lamp shades on the wall. When you turned on the lights the popcorn picture dissappeared. Housekeeping was great the whole time and kept the rooms spotless. The outside though looked kind of cheap. I did not like all the asphalt and cement. I much prefer walking paths with a lot of shade and flowers to look at. The food court was pretty conveinent to our room but I did not like having to walk outside in the rain to get something to eat. The children liked the pool and swam at every opportunity. You had to remember though to bring towles from your room since they did not offer them at the pool.

The first day we went to Epcot. We did everything that we possibly could. It rained off and on but we just did things like inovations and the living seas when it rained hard. The rain stopped long enough to watch the Tapestry of Dreams parade and illuminations. This was the first time that my sister and her children had been to WDW so we pretty much did the park commando thing. This was the time that I had seen the different worlds at Epcot since every time before my children had gotten to tired to spend the whole day there.

We ate at the Le Cellier in Canada. The food was OK but I would much prefer an Out Back Steak house. My oldest nephew stated that his New York strip steak was the best he had ever eaten. My prime rib though had a strange taste that wasn't quite pleasent. It wasn't bad it was just the type of seasoning used. My youngest nephew's steak was so small I thought we were all going to have to stop and go look for it before we could eat. The dinner came to $122.00 for the 6 of us. We did not get any alcoholic beverages.

Our first day was fun but very tiring. Epcot is a very big park to try and see it all in one day, but you know what, I think we managed to almost do it. I forgot to mention that Test Track broke down while we were on the track. It was weird being on the curve of a track with the car stopped. We must have been stuck there for about 10 minutes before they got it working again. I did not like having the car speed up to 65 miles/hour after it had just been stuck on the track. I kept waiting to crash into a stopped car on the track ahead of us. Of course that didn't happen and when when we got to the end we got to ride again because of the technical difficulties. I wanted to get off but the children didin't so off we went again.

It was back to the ASMo after illuminations and eventhough there were alot of people trying to do the same thing the bus system worked pretty well. We had to stand up but didn't have to wait long for a bus. We hoped for better weather the next day but didn't realize there was only worse to come.

Ya know I watched the Florida weather and thought about all the DISer's who were there. A bummer for sure, but seems like everyone reporting back made the best of it. Looking forward to reading the rest!

stuck on our side for over ten minutes....my husband closest to the track ....me in the middle and a person who was stuck on my arm and leg...it was something else......we also did Le Cellier, the prime rib was excellent.....I love my meat.....thanks so much for your report

:) You know, you always hear about Test Track breaking down a lot and I always wondered about the poor people stuck on it. I can imagine it wouldn't be the best feeling. Sorry to hear about the rain. Looking forward to reading more :D !
