The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Great updates, as usual! I've been on a business trip and missed checking in with you. My work computer blocks the DIS!!

When I go back a week from today, I know I will be going through DIS withdrawals!!!

Great world showcase pictures. It looks practically empty. And all the kids' pictures are adorable. I think you have a few holiday card contenders from this trip. And nice to see a picture of you and hubby as well! :)

It was pretty quiet most of the afternoon -- in the evening it started getting a little busier. Thanks! :goodvibes

I've now added a tangerine dacquiri (or two!) to the list for October and maybe a henna tattoo!!

Sorry the restaurant wasn't great but it is important to try new things and sounds like you had a dinner that made up for it -- can't wait to hear about it!

Those are both good additions!!! :thumbsup2 Despite the lackluster meal, I was glad we tried Marrakesh.

Great update! Your tat's are so cool!

You are so right about the CS in Morocco being better than the table service. I discovered that about 4 years ago. Now Tangeriene Cafe is a must do every trip! It is the best CS in WDW in my opinion! Yum!

Thank you! I am glad to read another good review of the CS -- it makes me excited to try it!

Great update! I can see now I need to spend much more time in WS next trip! I feel like I missed so much looking at your pics! Morocco we sort of skipped through because of time, etc. I am so sad now! It looks so beautiful, and your pics are great! Love reading your TR! :)

Thank you!!! That is really the great thing about Disney -- you will never run out of things to do because you can never quite cover all of it!

I just finished reading your TR and your kids are adorable! I've never eaten at Tangerine Cafe either but will surely check it out. Also it seems like I'm mildly midlife crisising, and I want a tattoo. Small, on the inside of my wrist. Honestly where do these ideas come from? :sad2: I never got one in college and I don't really think I'll actually go through with it. But a henna tattoo is perfect! If it wasn't 95 degrees and a crowd level of 10, I'd go now. ;)

Finally, we arrived in Morocco via Canada to Great Britain to France.

Long trip. ;)

I think Morocco is the most beautiful of the World Showcase countries. All that tilework!!! I would love to visit the real thing one day.

I feel the same way! A girl that I work with has been to Morocco. She's said it's jaw-droppingly beautiful.

They desperately need to have DISers take new pictures for them or something.

:lmao:

is there a plural for fez

fez'
fezzes
fezzez
fez
feza

My tongue feels all tickly from saying all those. I give up. I could look it up. But I'm lazy. My guess is it's just fez.

Oops, just looked at my adr's and noticed I canceled Marrakesh and booked Coral Reef.

I change so much I cannot where I am eating anymore.

Ok. I admit it. I have no idea what this is. WHAT is a fez? :confused3

This is a fez:

Unless you watch 'That 70's Show'. Then this would be a Fez:

Jackie--I DEFINITELY think you should frame that second picture of you and Charles for your desk---GREAT IDEA!!! One year, I had framed a picture of me and one of my favorite ball players of all time--Sean Casey. (I am not a huge baseball fan, but a fan of his for all the good work that he did in our community, etc., and I had the honor to meet him, and so took a picture of the two of us together.) ANYWAY, I put that picture on my desk because we had met at an education related event, and for a REALLY long time, the kids actually thought I was married to him. DUH?!?!?!? (And I taught SENIORS in HS!!!!) It was too funny, when I finally found out that was what they thought, I said--"Guys, don't you think you would know if my hubby was a well-known baseball player????? Don't you think my last name would be CASEY!!!???!!!!???!" It was TOO funny, and once that happened, I had to make sure I had a picture of me and my REAL hubby on my desk at all times!!! The picture is now in my office here at home, and everytime I see it, I still laugh about it!!! One of those funny teacher moments that sticks with you forever!!! Those are the moments I miss!

I know this story was WAY OT, but I knew you could relate and understand!!!

Welcome and thanks for reading!!! A henna tattoo would be great -- I have a real one on my ankle (got it when I was 21), but I had more fun getting the henna! You are so lucky to be close to WDW!

Long trip. ;)

It was! :lmao:

I need to win the lottery to be able to afford to go to all the places I want to go!

I am too lazy to look it up too so I am going with fez.

:lmao: That is too funny that you were worried about an ADR that you had already cancelled!!! We did Coral Reef in 2007 and really liked it.

Ok. I admit it. I have no idea what this is. WHAT is a fez? :confused3

As Tink showed you it's a red hat -- now imagine my Connor trying on a fez over and over and over again! :rotfl:

That is too funny about your students thinking you were married to Sean Casey. My 6th graders have time and time again asked me, "Is he your husband?" when they see me talking to a guy...like you aren't allowed to talk to men unless they are your husband? :confused3

I just finished reading your report. It was fantabulous!! You have inspired me to higher levels of planning!! :goodvibes

Hi Tinkerbellarella. :wave2: :wave2:

I checked to see if 2009 prices had been released. Well, no dice. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Why are the Disney gods torturing us?

Well, next weekend is August. So maybe, just maybe, we'll have some 2009 prices.

:lmao:

Jackie, I normally do not do hat pics (well, not of myself). But I feel the need to take a picture wearing a Fez for you :rotfl2:

:rotfl: I shall look forward to seeing it!

Hi Tinkerbellarella. :wave2: :wave2:

Welcome and thanks for reading! I love planning WDW almost as much as I love actually being at Disney. :goodvibes

Well, next weekend is August. So maybe, just maybe, we'll have some 2009 prices.

Here is my prediction (garnered from reading so many sites): next Sunday will see a price increase in tickets. The following Sunday, August 10, will see the release of 2009 packages. Although, if they want to release packages next weekend, I am definitely okay with that.

Hey! Glad you joined us over here! Jackie and her sweet family are so much fun!

Ahhh, you are too kind! :goodvibes

Sorry for missing my regular update day -- I think I am beginning to drag my feet, because I know that I am almost finished with this TR. With no definite trip yet (although I did make a teensy tiny little ADR for October should we decide to head back), I don't want this trip to end.

After tearing ourselves away from Morocco we headed towards Japan. Chelsea and Connor were very anxious to reach the Japanese shop as they had their own agendas there.

Connor, as we knew he would be, was in heaven -- Naruto, Power Rangers, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh -- he loves them all, so, for him, stepping into the store was like entering Nirvana. I left him with Charles because I knew that he would take FOREVER to choose what he wanted.

Chelsea wanted to do the Pick-Your-Own Pearl. They do a very cute ceremony with bowing, choosing your oyster, measuring your pearl, and banging on the little gong. I wish I had taken photos, but my hands were full with my daiquiri.

Connor finally decided on plastic samuri swords. I was kind of surprised that was all he wanted. Maybe he was just overwhelmed. :confused3

Then, we traipsed back to Great Britain. Charles had decided he wanted a soccer jersey. Guess which one he chose? One from the Chelsea football club -- how perfect was that? Chelsea, of course, thought that was the neatest thing ever! I was able to browse through all the English shops that time around. ;)

We still had three countries to complete, so back through Morocco where Chelsea decided she wanted a henna tattoo. As we were about to leave, we spotted a little drink kiosk on the Japanese side selling slushies and a drink called the Sultan's Colada. I love Pina Coladas, so the Sultan's Colada (basically a Pina Colada with some almond syrup added) was right up my alley. Charles and I both ordered one (it was becoming apparent that the best way to keep Charles happy in World Showcase was to allow him to drink). They were divine! I think I liked mine better than the daiquiris. Chelsea and Connor got slushies.

We stopped in Japan to listen to the drummers. When Chelsea was nine months old and took her first trip to WDW, she loved the Japanese drummers. I can vividly recall her dancing away in her stroller.

Apparently, she still likes dancing to the drummers.

We checked the time for the American Adventure's next show (3:45) and went to Italy. I love all the Venetian glass! Next time I think I will buy some!

Here's me trying to be artistic with my photography...or something.

Don't you love Chelsea's blue lips?

We watched the street performers in Italy for a little bit, and then did a whirlwind tour through Germany -- stopping to buy a pickle ornament for our tree after a CM told us about them. It is a tradition to hide the ornament somewhere on the Christmas tree, and then on Christmas Eve everyone hunts for it. The person who finds it gets a special gift. At the words "special gift" my children were all about getting a pickle for the tree.

At 3:45 we saw the American Adventure show. We had never seen it and really liked it. I thought it was a very truthful and touching portrait of America and the montage sequence made me cry -- I was still a little sniffly as we left the theater and made our way towards Japan for our dinner reservation.

It's sad, isn't it? I have two more trip updates, a souvenir update, and a final thoughts update -- that's just four hence the dragging of my feet.

I love that you love reading about our adventures -- I want to have more adventures to write about very soon! ;)

I'm thinking about doing this as one of my larger splurges. I also REALLY want a kimono. That would be a VERY big purchase. We'll see.

I like how she's making sure her henna can be seen!

I just got one of these for a childhood friend whose new hubby is German after looking for a more unique gift on the net.

Well, that's it. You obviously need to book another trip so I have more to read.:thumbsup2

The pick a pearl thing is awesome. My mom purchased it for me as a gift once and I have a beautiful pearl ring as the result. If you're going to splurge, I can think of no finer way.

Also, I know the kimonos in Japan are very expensive, and that robes in China are totally different style wise, but I had a lovely robe from China that I've had since high school, it's pretty and was less expensive.
