The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Hehehehee. Stubborn Connor! I love it! That's so something I would have done when I was little.

And tipping the frozen lemonade all over myself? That's so something I would do now. I'm so clumsy!!

I hope his day got better!! :thumbsup2

I was much more vocal about my fits when I was his age -- no silent stubborness for me!

I do things like dumping lemonade all over myself, too -- I think that is where he gets it from!

His day does get better.

Poor Conner! I truly hope the day got better for him!!:goodvibes

It does! :goodvibes

Aww, poor kid! But that's totally something I would have done--I wasn't really a screamer, but boy could I pout and "show them" like no one else! :lmao:

But as another poster said, I didn't realize that my "showing them" only meant that I didn't enjoy myself while everyone else went about their merry way. Connor will learn eventually. :goodvibes

I hope something else in the day makes up for the first go at TSM and the lemonade-on-pants!

I made sure that everyone was as miserable as I was when I was in a snit. My mom and dad still bring up some of my more infamous fits.

Yes, there are brighter times ahead for Connor-Man!

Love the updates, I'm all caught up now. Poor Connor, I hope his day picks up.

Thanks! I am glad you are enjoying it! Connor would be the first to tell you that his day did improve!

wow Connor is stubburn isn't he?? I can't believe he didn't shoot one time... Poor guy only punished himself and then spilling his lemonade :(

Hope the day got better for him..

You'll have to tell me how AG store is, we have been a few times to the one in Chicago. My girls want to check the Atlanta one out soon.

The concert was actually at Turner Field on Sunday.

Connor can be sooo stubborn -- afterwards he never wants to talk about it though -- he prefers to forget such things ever happened.

The Atlanta AG is really fun, but on a much smaller scale. We thought that going on a Tuesday morning would save us from the crowds, but it was still busy!

That's right -- I did read where the concert was at Turner Field -- I forgot though since it seems like all the big acts are going to that new venue.

That is soooo something my oldest would do! :rotfl2: In fact when she purposely sat so she couldn't see the P&PP fireworks she did! LOL! It's like they think "Huh, I'll show you, I'll just miss out on this really fun thing and then see how you like it!"

I can't believe he didn't play at all. On the ride he wanted the most. Oh stubborn children. I do hope when you use your FPs later he enjoys it more!

Allyson

Yeah, he thought he was proving a point, but really the only one that suffered was him. Oh well. Chelsea has learned that if she whines, it makes us all take notice -- I much prefer Connor's silent pouting. ;)

I feel like pulling a Toy Story Mania at work today! What do you think they would do if I just crossed my arms and pouted in my swivel chair?

I wouldn't have the will power to not play. I am impressed with Connor's skills of stubborness. Not that is necessarily a good thing.

:rotfl2: There are lots of things I wish I could pull a TSM about!

I wouldn't have the will power either -- mostly because I would be afraid of missing out on something fun!

I used to do stuff like Connor all the time!! For some reason my logic was "If i'm not doing something I like than mom will get upset" and than I'd eventually melt down in hysterics later on that I didn't get to do what I wanted. Anyway, I can't wait to be at the AKL!! I was going to do a spur of the moment Boma breakfast and see if I could get in one morning we'll see how it goes!

:rotfl2: I just always went straight to the hysterics -- my poor parents :sad2: . I can't wait for you to be at AKL either -- take lots of pics of your room and view and pool area and everything! I bet you will be able to score a Boma breakfast -- there were lots of empty tables when we were there.

Hi! I have just read through your whole report so far and am really enjoying it! Your kids are adorable. You actually have me thinking about maybe starting my own pre-trip report...

Thank you! I am so glad you are enjoying it! Definitely start a PTR -- they're lots of fun -- and then PM me the link so I can read it, too! :thumbsup2

Does Chelsea even know what TAB is?

Nope, but the shirt was in her favorite colors so she HAD to have it when we went to World of Coke last August! I remember it, though -- they still sell it, I've noticed.

If he wasn't 8 years old, I'd say that Connor looks like he needs to sit by the pool with a cocktail! :rotfl:

I know that I could have used one about then! Sitting in the heat listening to HSM was not really ringing my bell!

Hi! We are the same age, I grew up in Charleston and am still here. I am a second generation Disney freak, raising 2 Disney Princesses. I am loving your report so far. Looking forward to reading more about your Disney adventures.

PS - my daughters and I spent much of Saturday watching various Disney rides, parades, and shows on YouTube. It's a new addiction we have. LOL!

Welcome!!! I'm glad that you are reading and enjoying!!! Lucky you to still be in Charleston! Where did you go to high school??? Don't you just love youtube -- I love all those videos of WDW on there!

I've been lurking, reading your great TR! I swear that Connor and my DD7 were separated at birth. That is just SO something that she would do, accompanied by her Trademark Pout throughout the entire ride and afterwards, just to make sure that you Got Her Point. :rotfl2:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Normally Connor does that, too, but once he knew that I knew he had refused to play, he was fine. Strange child that he is! ;)

I am completely caught up with your trip report and waiting for the next installment. Please update us ASAP!!! this has been the highlight of my days recently...lol

You are so sweet! I am so glad you are enjoying all my ramblings!!! :goodvibes I am updating our continuing DHS saga later today -- I just have to scan some photopass pics for it.

I love this. I'm sure we all have sayings that only come from Disney experiences.
Poor Conner, I hope it all gets better for him. It must, he's at DISNEY:banana:

I love to read this book to my 6th graders. I really like the way their attitudes change from the beginning of the book to the end.

Thanks for keeping me entertained.

You know, I kind of like that we have a catchphrase now from WDW -- because then we remember all the fun we had. :goodvibes His day does brighten.

I just love the language of Tuck Everlasting -- especially that prologue and first chapter -- it makes going back to school in August a little bit easier!

And you are welcome! Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

:lmao: Bwahahaha! Hilarious!

Great updates, CP! I love 'em! :surfweb:

Thanks!!! I love that everyone gets a kick out of them!

Okay Jackie--I am sure I am not alone in saying this, but you are going to HAVE to give us more of this day sooner--I just can't wait!!! I have been laughing so hard reading it, and I just HAVE to know how the day continues from here!!! TOO FUNNY!!! Poor Connor--what a day he was having!! IF YOU DON'T GIVE US MORE SOON, I MIGHT JUST HAVE TO GO "TOY STORY MANIA" ON YOU!!! ;o) HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHAHAH-----too funny!!! (Insert wiping the tears from my eyes here!)

No, don't go all TSM on me! Jen, it was all I could do not to burst out laughing incredulously when Chelsea informed me that her brother had sat there in a frump for the ride -- the ride that we had made such an effort to go on for him (of course, we would have ridden it anyway, but we knew how much it meant to Connor). I managed to contain myself since I knew that would just make matters worse -- I'll tell you though, I could not wait to tell Charles about it when we met back up!

More coming today!

As a mom to 2 beautiful emotional DDs, sometimes when they "pull a Toy Story Mania", I'm secretly a little bit happy. Because someday (sooner than later unfortunately), kids are going to start trying to convince them to do stuff they know they shouldn't do. Having the ability to stick to their convictions is a great quality to have. I just see in my constantly worrying head some kid/adolescent/teenager coming up to my DD and saying, "Hey, ya wanna go <insert bad activity here>, it's really cool". My girls (and from the sounds of it your kids) would never say, "Yeah, okay, whatever, I guess, if you say so".

So I say, "Way to go Connor, way to not give in! :cheer2: Show me again that you can stand up for yourself!" They're all going to need all the practice they can get, aren't they? That's how I make myself feel better anyway!

I love that perspective -- it's so true and might make handling their stubborness a little easier!!! Thanks for sharing -- I know that is something I worry about as my two get older -- peer pressure can be such a dangerous thing and working in a middle school I see what it can lead kids to do!

We will threaten the kids with not pulling a TSM while we're at DHS JUST for you, Jackie!

 I love that you will be thinking of me and your other DIS buddies while you are down there -- we sure will be thinking of you while we are trying to get through cold, unexciting January! :goodvibes And you make sure to tell the kids not to pull a TSM! ;)

it is good that he is strong willed. to bad he missed it, hope he doe sit on the FP turn.

great update and pics. I cannot wait to ride it.

So what did Chelsea get at AG? It is a smaller store than Chicago-- is that what you said? I cannot wait to take Emily there. Hannah has a bitty baby and Nikki the doll of last year, but she does not love her dolls like her little sister. Emily adores them and the catalog. DH just got her the bitty twins for Christmas.... she will love them.

I know it's good that he is so strong willed and will stand him in good stead when he is older, but it sure causes a headache at times now! ;) TSM does come into the story again later in the day.

You will love it! Remember, head there first thing in the morning, get fast passes, and then do stand-by. You will want to ride it more than once.

Chelsea, after much deliberation, chose the Sweet Treats bakery case and the accessories that went with it. It's very cute with all sorts of neat baked goods and baking supplies. She is thoroughly enjoying it and managed to coerce her brother somehow to play with it with her.

The Atlanta store is smaller -- it only has one floor (we went to the Chicago store when Chelsea was about Em's age and my parents lived in Cleveland) and the restaurant -- no escalators or stage show :(. However, just having it is great because we can go and "play" with everything. All of Kit's new stuff is so cool -- my mom and I were kind of hoping she would choose the new stove or something, but Chelsea had her own ideas.

Those Bitty Twins are so cute! Now I am excited to see your Christmas pics when Em gets them -- did you get two girls or one girl and one boy?

That bakery is too cute... Hannah and I both thought that in the catalog- how fun! So no show there... I am sure that our big trip with the girls and my mom will be to Chicago... I just want to wait until Em is 4 I think so we can do the show and and lunch and stuff.

DH called freaking out in there yesterday morning. He had never been in one before... and it was crazy I am sure. He called 4 times... what size (he got Hannah a shirt and Nikki the matching one from Chicago), and an outfit for Nikki for Christmas and then the brown haired bitty twins, a boy and girl set. I think Em wanted two girls... but she won't care!
I so love Kit, since she is from Cincinnati and all. I hope to have one someday- although I really love the Emily doll too, and Molly and well I think they are all so cute!

Sorry to go so OT!

Talking about American Girls is a fun way to go OT!

I bet your DH was freaking out in there!!! Talk about sensory overload, and he was probably so lost and overwhelmed -- sounds like he did a good job getting stuff though. :thumbsup2

We have managed to spoil Chelsea rotten with American Girls over the years (Santa started a tradition of bringing them for Christmas :scared: ), but they are so well-made and detailed that we haven't minded. She has Molly, Emily, Kit, Elizabeth, and Julie. Molly and Emily are her favorites -- I like Julie the best because I remember all that stuff that she has! Chelsea and I want to see the new Kit movie, but haven't made it yet -- I guess we should make that a priority before I head back to work. Did they film any of it in Cincinnati? It was easier when they came on television each year.

Is tonight update night? :rotfl2:

I hope Connor had a better experience on Toy Story Mania when it came time to use the fastpasses.

I'm afraid when school starts and I encounter a stubborn child, refusing to finish his/her drawings I'm going to say "don't pull a Toy Story Mania!"
I think my principal will have me carted off to a nice padded room if that happens.

You could visit American Girl in NYC :rolleyes1

That would be so fun! That and World of Disney and all those great Disney musicals!

Yep, tonight is update night -- later after the kids go to bed. ;)

:rotfl2: I think I am going to use that phrase with my middle schoolers, too! Then they will whisper about me behind my back!

Can't wait for the update popcorn::

:lmao: I'm going to use the phrase on T.

I just got done reading your trip report from the very first page of the PTR to the current installment in one sitting!!! :cheer2: Your family is adorable and reading your report is making me itch because I want to be there sooo badly!! Thanks for letting us all be a part of it!!

Bummer! I'm going to bed soon! :guilty:

That's my pout face, did you see it? :rotfl:

You would fit in well at my house -- Chelsea is currently pouting because I told her she had 30 minutes. She said, "That's so not fair!" My reply was, "oh well, I'm the mom!"

You'll get a morning update, I guess. :(
