The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

Oh I am so glad you enjoyed Tusker House. We too did an 8:00 am ADR and it was so wonderful, the food was all yummy, hot and fresh, that juice is to die for and the location so close to KS, doesn't hurt either. ;) Its on our must do again list too. So yummy!

great update and pics.

glad u liked it, we loved it when we went and hopefully will love it again when I go in September.

I too am a lover of AK! Tusker House....loved it as a CS....and know you got me thinking about breakfast there. I might have to call for an ADR on Monday.

The shirt you're wearing in the pic is so cute!

I assume this was a non-alcoholic jungle juice...In my experience, jungle juice was a beverage served out of a big tub at a frat party. :rotfl:

Lovely pictures of an empty Animal Kingdom! :goodvibes Methinks I'll have to do an early ADR next time I make it out there, since I love breakfast and am also a morning person.

You're doing well with your every-other-update plan! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Great update, CP! And super pix! I loved your Africa pictures- you framed them really well- and it helped that there weren't any people in them too. They look totally authentic. Love the breakfast photos too- makes me want to go there so bad!

Lucky!!! ;) Did you try the famous Lapu Lapu?
No I don't like some of the ingredients but my fellow DISers did, so much infact that they drank the Poly dry of pineapples, who would think the Poly would ever run out of pineapples? :rotfl2:

Tusker House looks lovely, I love the photo of your children outside, so cute :goodvibes

I LOVE these pics, LOVE them!!!

I have never done a breakfast before opening except at MK. THIS must have been soooo cool!

Now I am really feeling the "wanna go back" pain!!!:wizard:

Lori

What fabulous pictures of AK !!!! without people!!! even better!!!! :rotfl:
I know this is falling back on the epcot discussion but.....when we go on the next trip I'm giving MS (green) a try. I've discovered nondrowsy dramamine and it keeps me from getting sick on the fast rides.

I just stumbled across your TR tonite - looks awesome so far but I think I need like a month to read it - LOL!:rotfl:

Can't wait to catch up!:goodvibes

I think early morning adr's are so worth it! I do it mostly just to get into the park early!

I'd love to see AK without the hoards of people and butts in the background of my pictures!

All caught up! But I am having serious photo issues here tonight, I can't see pics on anyone's TR and can't get into Photobucket either! I'll have to come back for the photos!

Glad you enjoyed Tusker House! I am trying it in August. I loved the old CS too, best green beans! I love doing an early breakfast to be in the park early. Might have to skip the pap though. We New England girls aren't big grit like fans. :)

And sounds like your Epcot Day was a lot of fun!

Allyson

I so want to do the breakfast at Tusker house--- it has Daisy who is hard to find! The girls would love it, glad the food was good too!

Excellent update! Wow, I love how empty the Animal Kingdom looks. And although I love that park, I hate that it's always sooooooo hot there. Your early morning rising to go to that breakfast has some virtue, methinks. Perhaps I'll schedule that in for our 2009 trip. We're so not early risers on vacation, but in this instance I think it just might be worth it. Early character dining, then on to fun!:goodvibes

It was so worth getting up early for Tusker House. I would seriously consider it. Being there early helped with the heat aspect as well!

I am still waiting to hear about your Space Mountain episode!!! popcorn::

Great update CP! I am so excited for our early ADR to Crystal Palace now. I think getting into the parks early is such a great idea.

I also love your cute tshirt!!

Thank you! :goodvibes We plan on doing an early ADR for Crystal Palace next time, too!

That's my favorite Disney shirt!

I wish I could have breakfast there every morning!

great update and pics.

glad u liked it, we loved it when we went and hopefully will love it again when I go in September.

Thank you! I am sure you will love it just as much in September when you go again! That Jungle Juice is worth the visit!

I too am a lover of AK! Tusker House....loved it as a CS....and know you got me thinking about breakfast there. I might have to call for an ADR on Monday.

I would -- it was one of our favorites of the trip, and where else can you meet Daisy???

The shirt you're wearing in the pic is so cute!

I assume this was a non-alcoholic jungle juice...In my experience, jungle juice was a beverage served out of a big tub at a frat party. :rotfl:

Thank you! It will be a sad day in my life when I can no longer wear it.

:rotfl: about the Jungle Juice! This one was a blend of fruit juices -- our waiter told us, but I can't for the life of me remember what he said.

Lovely pictures of an empty Animal Kingdom! :goodvibes Methinks I'll have to do an early ADR next time I make it out there, since I love breakfast and am also a morning person.

You're doing well with your every-other-update plan! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Thank you! I almost didn't make it yesterday with the DIS acting strangely and then going down for maintenance.

We loved Tusker House breakfast too! Isn't Goofy TALL!

He is so tall -- I noticed it when I looked back at the pictures and saw that the children came up to his belt!

Great update, CP! And super pix! I loved your Africa pictures- you framed them really well- and it helped that there weren't any people in them too. They look totally authentic. Love the breakfast photos too- makes me want to go there so bad!

Thank you! Yes, the scads of people usually ruin "the look" of my photos! :rotfl:

:lmao: I had no idea the Poly could run out of pineapples!

Thank you! They fought most of the morning except when the camera was on them!

I LOVE these pics, LOVE them!!!

Lori

After doing the Tusker House one, I have been racking my brains at other ones for Epcot and DHS that would enable us to get in early.

Everyday, I want to go back!

What fabulous pictures of AK !!!! without people!!! even better!!!! :rotfl:

Keep me posted on how the dramamine works for you -- I am curious to hear about it!

I just stumbled across your TR tonite - looks awesome so far but I think I need like a month to read it - LOL!:rotfl:

Can't wait to catch up!:goodvibes

Welcome and thank you! You can just use the links in the first post if that helps!

I think early morning adr's are so worth it! I do it mostly just to get into the park early!

I'd love to see AK without the hoards of people and butts in the background of my pictures!

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: People and their butts are always unwelcome sights in our vacation photos!

Welcome home! Did you have fun in Maine?

They had tons of other yummies there including some great omelets and quiches. They also had standard breakfast fare. I could have eaten a ton, but didn't want a repeat of the whole Boma dinner! ;)

I so want to do the breakfast at Tusker house--- it has Daisy who is hard to find! The girls would love it, glad the food was good too!

Definitely put it on your next-time list -- the girls would love it!

I am still waiting to hear about your Space Mountain episode!!! popcorn::

Oh, gosh! I forgot about that. Well, if your loyal readers will forgive a little sidetrack...:::clears throat:::

I do not like roller coasters. Or Star Tours or any rides that throw you around. They make me physically ill. However, my sister is a thrill ride junkie. And one year, we went to Disney and I was about ten. Somehow she convinced/I deicded I was going to go on Space Mountain. I think perhaps that it was in the dark appealed to my fear of losing my stomach. If I can't see it, it's not so bad.

So on we went. And I was ten. I slid right down into that seat, and was held tighlty in. I believe I kept my eyes closed the whole time, as I was mortified. It wasn't too bad, I guess, but my stomach was in knots when we got off. I told my sister, I lost my stomach. She asked me if I wanted to go back and find it. I said "NO!" But seriously, that's one of my favorite memories with her from that trip. The other is where she took me to Typhoon Lagoon just the two of us. Anyhoo :rolleyes1

Fast forward twelve years. I'm 22, newly married, and on my honeymoon at...where else, Disneyworld. I'm a little older, a little wiser, and a little scardier. I decided it was time to try Space Mountain again with my DH. So we got in line. And I forgot about the queue. How it's very enclosed and when there's wall to wall people you can't see anything. And I had a panic attack. Because I'm claustrophobic.

Oh I know. I'm loads of fun, eh? So, there I am, halfway through the line, staring at my feet to avoid the feeling of the walls crushing in on me. DH says, do you want to just leave? I said, how, there's wall to wall people, and we're halfway through. I knew he really wanted to go on the ride, too, so I was trying to be a good sport.

So we finally got to the loading area, and I slid into my seat.

Guess what?

I WAS TALLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

So much taller than when I was ten. I don't know why this thought never occured to me, but alas it was too late to do anything about it. Here I was, a 22 year old, sticking completely out of the seat like any normal adult would and I thought...oh no...

and then the ride started.

And I kept my eyes closed the whole time.

But I went on.

Never again, folks. Never again.:rotfl2:

Great update! It looks like you all had such a great time! I can't wait for our Tusker House bfast! I do like the early morning breakfasts before the park opens! We only have one this year though. So many great places to eat so little time! hehe

Your tee shirt is so cute!

I had to sneak in for a picture with Daisy! I had never met her before!
013_12.jpg

I love your t-shirt! I think I'll need a queen related t-shirt for each day of our trip next year! :rotfl:

I've discovered nondrowsy dramamine and it keeps me from getting sick on the fast rides.

There's a non-drowsy formula! This may save my life! I get terrible car/ride sickness from time to time. MUST-FIND!

Never again, folks. Never again. :rotfl2:

Space Mountain is the only ride (at Disneyland) that ever made me feel nauseated. I still can't even THINK about riding it. That's something the kids'll have to do without me!

Great update Jackie!!! I am here!! Sorry I have been MIA the past week!! Mike took the kids to Tusker House also, and said they loved it there too! You have given me so many great ideas for the NEXT TRIP!!! ;o) Jen

I don't like roller coasters, either. However, rides like Star Tours and Dinosaur don't bother me at all. Go figure!

So on we went. And I was ten. I slid right down into that seat, and was held tighlty in. I believe I kept my eyes closed the whole time, as I was mortified. I do that on all the roller coasters I am forced to ride (squish down and close my eyes). I love your sister's comment!

The only time I have EVER ridden Space Mountain was in 1995 with Charles. I can totally relate to the whole clautrophobia thing!

Never again, folks. Never again.:rotfl2:

Thank you for sharing! :goodvibes I know exactly how you feel about Space Mountain! Exactly!

Great update! It looks like you all had such a great time! I can't wait for our Tusker House bfast! I do like the early morning breakfasts before the park opens! We only have one this year though. So many great places to eat so little time! hehe

Your tee shirt is so cute!

Thank you! I found the t-shirt last June at Mousegears. I know what you mean about so many great places and so little time! We have the hardest time narrowing down our eating choices!

I love your t-shirt! I think I'll need a queen related t-shirt for each day of our trip next year! :rotfl:

I found another t-shirt on disneyshopping that has Snow White's Evil Stepmother's crown, and it says, "Fit for an Evil Queen." I think I need that one!

Great update Jackie!!! I am here!! Sorry I have been MIA the past week!! Mike took the kids to Tusker House also, and said they loved it there too! You have given me so many great ideas for the NEXT TRIP!!! ;o) Jen

I am so glad you are back, Jen! :goodvibes

I know what you mean about the great ideas -- I have been getting lots from yours, too! We'll definitely need to stay longer next time to fit them all in! :lmao:
