The Purple Box???

OK! You have all sold me on the OL concept! :worship: I went out to their web site and realized that if I were going to WDW once or twice a year with children, this would be absolutely ideal. For two people, I'm still not convinced I'd get the ROI -- although a previous posting of storing the gin, the nice wine glasses.............maybe...... :rotfl:

LOL, well WE are only 2 people!

Add us to the OL fan club. We've had ours for over 3 years now and love it. While I carry much of same stuff as everyone else (small first air kit, Toiletries, Laundry items, DH extra pair of sneakers, power stip (for all those electronic devises, extension cords) we really like it because it stores for us 2 NICE wine glasses, my quart of gin (which does last for at least 3-5 trips) and leftover CC (DH - Usually only last 1-2 trips:rotfl:) and any bottles of wine that we may have bought but didn't get a chance to drink. Packing the liquid refreshments was always worry factor before OL

Totally agree with you. Having the liquid refreshments there when we get there is a definite plus. When flying it sure is a pain to try and get it there.
Yes, you tag them like your luggage. After we receive our lockers at MCO, we put the sticky luggage tags that DCL sends on them. I usually put two on each from the front side over the top of the lid so that they are visible from both the top and the side. They go on the coach with you to the port and then they will be magically transported to your cabin. If you are leaving from a resort, Bell Services will take them in the morning to be sent to the ship. Again, the tags need to be on them. We have taken them on three cruises so far and not had any problems. Easy as pie!

Thank you so much for letting me know this. We will be taking ours on our cruise in September. :woohoo::woohoo:

We are cruising in early July on Royal Caribbean and driving to the port, after the cruise we are spending a few days at BLT ('m more excited about my 3 days at BLT than the cruise....)

I was wondering if anyone has ever driven to Port Canaveral and picked up their Owners Locker along the way...where would that be? Hmm....I guess I could just send them an email, but I love getting all of your input!

I am considering using this service but I have a question. For the first trip do you do all your inital shopping at home and bring it with you? or do you do your shopping in Orlando and then fill it? Also I will be going to Disney twice this year but do you think it is worth it if you only visit once a year?

Thanks!

For both of our lockers (got one first then a 2nd before the next trip when we saw what a huge benefit they really were going to be for us) we put together an initial list of items to store and then started the process of gathering it all up. I went to Staples and bought a shipping box that was pretty close to the exact dimensions (as found on the OL site) of the lockers. Then we just kept filling it up with the stuff on our list as we either a) found extras in the house or b) bought the items. About a week before that first "locker trip" I then shipped it down to FL via UPS. It was waiting for us upon arrival - and we starting transferring stuff over throughout our trip. Then just put the box out by the trash when we left. We did the same thing for locker 2. We currently have a list of potential items to add - but so far we're nowhere near needing locker 3...but we're not ruling it out either.

I did a little of both. I bought or gathered things at home and then brought them down in an extra suitcase (Southwest, no bag fees). I also ordered a couple of bulky things from Amazon (Brita pitcher, coffee grinder) and had those sent directly to the hotel. Then on our grocery trip, I got a few things (like the electric griddle).

And as luck (for John from Owners locker) would have it, now one airline announces that they are going to charge for CARRYONS as well! It may be time to get another locker and just keep a weeks worth of clothes for us as well down there.

That is just soooo wrong! :sad2:

I had that same thought this morning when someone mentioned it to me. I guess that third locker may be coming sooner than I thought!

Yes it is. How many want to guess when the first of the major carriers will follow that particular airline's lead? I saw that story this morning and was disgusted by it. My guess is it won't help them but will drive more business away instead.

When I saw the carry-on news I thought, "When this rule moves to other airlines, I will have an excuse to finally get locker #3."

I "collected" all of our items at home over a period of months and stored them in a similar sized plastic bin. Then I got a big Xerox printer box or something, also about the same size and packed everything in it and shipped it down via UPS. It was waiting for us at Bell Services when we got there. (I shipped it on a Mon., it arrived on a Wed. & we got there on Friday.) It weighed just almost 45 Lbs and cost me approx. $30 to ship (the cost of checking a suitcase down & back). This was SOOO easy.:thumbsup2

We actually went to Wal-Mart down there to fill our locker for the first time. We had made a list at home of what we needed and shopped as soon as we got down there. We did this so we wouldn't have to check a bag for the shampoos and stuff. Plus, I am not that good of a planner to pack everything up and ship it down. Then when we drove down this Spring, we took more stuff from home to put in it.

And like you all have said, with the airline starting to charge for carry-ons, we may be in the market for another locker!

We brought some stuff from home, but then, on the second visit we went to walmart (and the liquor store) with our list; we always stay in studios so also store a cutting board, a couple sharp knives. If I had to pay for baggage, I would definitely get a second locker; but we fly SWA and if I have to check a bag, I may as well have it full of clothes.

owner's locker is the BEST!!!!!! we have 2 plus our stroller (filled to the brim with stuff in the cover.) when we don't need the stroller anymore we will transition to a 3rd locker. there are 6 of us, and we use every inch! i can't list it all as it may jam the whole forum............needless to say lots of essentials (all toiletries, extra flip-flops, sweats, toys, extra pins, sleep machines, detergent, you name it!!!) the absoute best part is the service that brian and john provide, it is absolutely exceptional. my husband has a company that employs over 400 people and he is seriously impressed and tells his customer service people about the customer service ol provides----that is an endorsement! i get the pleasure of getting my lockers on tuesday!:cheer2:

We will be filling up our first Owner's Locker during our trip in Sept. We have already started to collect items we would like to store in it and I was wondering what type of water filter does everyone use?

I use a Brita pitcher, though some people use the on-faucet filter.

From what I read the reasoning was because people are taking too much carryon luggage which was causing delays while boarding etc. Then there is a safety concern with too much stuff in the cabin and not enough storage.

I am totally sold on Owner's Locker. I think it is a great service. Not that we can justify it since we drive and have the space for everything we need. But if we flew we would have already signed up.

Add me to the list of OL groupies!!!!

When we first got our OL, we shipped a box down with all of the stuff. The rest has accumulated over time and has either been brought with us or purchased when we are there.

Along with all the regular toiletry items most people have, we keep full sized coffee mugs in our OL b/c the ones in the rooms just aren't big enough for us. We keep pool toys, goggles, a pool/beach bag, all kinds of stuff.

We also have a journal that we keep in our OL where we make notes about each trip, special things we did, etc. Someday, many many years from now when my DD is an adult, I know I am going to love to read back on stories from when she was little and how she changes over the years :wizard:

You won't be disapointed with an OL purchase!

We do this, too! I always buy a photopass picture or use one of the photos from a character meal (the kind you buy at the table) and I have photo corners in one of the Lockers for putting the photos in. I can't imagine how fun it will be in a few years to look back on it!

You won't be disappointed with an OL purchase!

That's for sure!!!
