It's also the season opener for the rest of the clubs too, but that's not a big deal.

Gee, it seems like hockey season just ended!

Well, Im looking forward to Friday and the B's season starting, but I may have to become a Stars fan this year so I can cheer for Guerin.
Unfortuantely Im not going to the games until March and April, but at least thats something to get me through the winter.

The nets are up. You can't really tell they are there. You think it was cold in the Reunion, wait till you go to the AA Center! The A/C in that place is like going to the north pole add the ice, yikes!

Jeff, we had tickets at the corner where the nets stop, so the view was half net half open. I thought it was distracting. They are also black, which doesn't seem like the right color. Oh well, I guess it probably isn't that bad if you have a total view of net.

I was at the Kings season opener last night to see Gretzky's jersey retirement and I was in a corner section behind the net. I thought the nets were a bit distracting. I made the comment that when the players were in my view behind the net, it sort of felt like I was wearing sunglasses. It definitely isn't invisible, as one NHL official eluded to in the offseason.

But it was great to have hockey back. And now my Kings are currently leading the league in points, goals scored, power play goals and penalty kill percentage. Get used to it because you all are playing for second.

A 14 year old kid was killed at a Columbus Blue Jackets game last year. because of this they have put safety netting around the goal areas so stray pucks will be deflected away from the fans.

Ohhhh. I knew about the horrible accident, but hadnt heard about nets beign installed. Is this in all arenas?

The nets can ONLY detract from the view of the ice/action of the game and is a major overreaction to a freak/tragic incident!!
Its great to have pro hockey back and im also looking forward to college hockey starting soon!!
