With heavy heart we finished packing. Kate went off to MK about 9.30 as she had arranged a DIS meet with several other people from the DIS Unplugged board.
I rang for someone to collect our bags and sat and waited till a bell hop came. I took this photo of the BLT corridor carpet - I love the hidden Mickey's!
After leaving the room for the last time, I went to MK to have a wander round and to buy some Mickey picnic wine glasses. It was lovely just wandering around savouring the heat and sunshine. I had some lunch (a burger) at Cosmic Rays and sat and people watched.
Soon it was time to meet up with Kate by the town hall and I sat and waited for her on a bench in the shade. I was soon joined by an American lady who had just arrived that morning and who was waiting for her grandchildren who were queuing to see Donald. She began to tell me all about her daughters marital problems and how the kids were really looking forward to coming to WDW after their daddy had left them. I felt very sad for her but it was almost as though meeting her was meant to be it was pulling me back to the world of work that would be waiting when I got home as though the holiday was over and I needed to flip my brain back in to work mode!
After taking the monorail for the final time to BLT, we collected our cases and got the ME bus back to the airport.
The plane left on time and in just under 8 hours we had landed back at Gatwick. The plane was a little emptier on the trip back and we had a set of 3 seats between the two of us so we could spread out a bit. We landed early at 6.15, our cases were almost first off the plane, the meet and greet delivered the car promptly and we sailed round the M25 for 70 miles, arriving home just 2 hours after landing - an unheard of event up to now!
We had a wonderful trip with some amazing memories and we met some fantastic people. I wasnt sure how Kate would put up with me for that length of time but it worked out fine and she was a great travelling companion. Hopefully this wont be the last mom and daughter only trip! I think she did so well to manage her anxieties and I think it has given her a lot of confidence for when she returns to WDW with her DBF next June.
Thanks for reading along with the report its my first one but Ive really enjoyed doing it. I havent got my next trip planned yet but it will probably be for my 50th in January 2011 DH has agreed to come with me!! Thats the great thing about DVC, we know that when we say good bye, we also know that it wont be long before we can plan the next trip to the happiest place on earth!
