Yesterday around 5:30pm The power in the Apartment complex, and the surrounding area went out due to 75mph wind gust. Aep said it could be a week before the Power comes back on. The High wind also brought down Tree limbs nearby. I will be staying with my mother untill at least this weekend. There was some Damage to some of he Apartment units including gutters on the ground. Damage to the Roof of another Unit. I live in Columbus Ohio and alot of areas are still without power. as we speak I hope the power will be back on soon:sad2:

Hi, we live in the Akron/Canton area. Same conditions here. We lost power at 7:30 last night - didn't come on till 5:50 this am. Most schools are closed due to trees and debris, along with many power outages. What a time for my DD to have an asthma attack! Luckily, my brother lives 15 minutes away and he had power so we could use her nebulizer. :sad2:

High winds here in Cleveland too last night...nothing compared to what Texas and Louisana experienced, but it was really something for us. My bedroom window was open and it blew a HEAVY mirror off my dresser, somehow it didn't break. Lots of people still without power and many closed schools. Hope everyone is coping all right. Ike certainly was a monster.

Isn't it amazing that a storm that formed off the coast of Africa weeks ago, traveled thousands of miles across an ocean, severely damaged several Caribbean islands, then slammed into our Texas coastline, and still had enough ooomph to screw up large parts of the Midwestern United States?

That's one hugely powerful storm!!

SpaceMtnFan, before I read you were in Columbus, I just KNEW you had to be in Columbus! I'm in the burbs of CMH and know exactly what you are talking about. The "7 days until power restoration" is making me (well all of us) cringe!

I leave for WDW in 5 days, followed by cruising Disney Magic the following Saturday. So on top of everything I have to do for these 2 weeks of vacation, I'm likely going to have to find time to throw out everything in the basement freezer.....and of course try to accomplish what I need to during the few daylight hours left by the time I get home from work! I keep putting it all back in perspective though. Sooooooooooo many people have had devastating outcomes. We are very fortunate.

It's so nice of you to stay with your DM. Stay safe, and I hope the temperatures remain cool so it's tolerable to stay home with no power.

SamIAm, you're right....it IS amazing Ike took this toll on such a large area of this earth.

I live in Louisville, KY and we had winds clocked at 75 MPH. Our power went off yesterday about 3 pm and they are telling everyone it could be up to 2 weeks before power is restored to all. Luckily my brother's power is on so we emptied what we could save in the refrig and took it over. A little over an hour ago our power came back on :cool1: :cool1:

It was hard last night to not be able to play on the internet or watch TV. You don't know how much you miss something until you don't have it

I am in the Louisville KY Metro area, and I have no power at home. It May be two weeks before we get power back on in some areas, I hope it is not that long at my house. We have power at work, so at least I can get my DIS fix here.

We have several trees down, shingles off and siding peeled off of houses. IKE's remains hit us hard here, we were lucky it was just the hurricane force 75+mph straight line winds and not the heavy rains too, that areas to our north received. For those of you in the Hurricane region, we feel for you in facing a lot stronger winds & the heavy rains.

Here are some pictures of our damage:

As of this morning My Power is still off since sunday so im staying at my Dad's apartment. I live near a shopping center and it is still dark over there. It may be sunday before the power is restored

I live in Louisville, KY and haven't had power since Sunday. Our neighbor's tree took down the phone and power lines. We were able to take our frozen stuff to a co-worker's house that has power. It sucks and I'm missing all my shows and no internet.

At least power is up at work today and I am able to get on the internet here.

I live in the Ville too and just got my power back......hang in there...it's rough I know.

My DBf still doesn't have power.

I heard it could take up to 2 weeks. :scared1:

Good Luck....hope your "juice" comes on reeeeal soon. pixiedust:

I'm in Cleveland, too. We lost power a total of 7 times Sunday night. It only stayed off long enough for DH to scream an obscenity, then it came right back on. (he was polyurethaning the floor, so I guess he needed the light :confused3 ). My dad's power came back this afternoon after 46 hours. He actually enjoyed reading by oil lamp the last 2 nights and is a bit bummed that the power is back on. I pointed out that he could just turn off the lights and use the oil lamp anyway, but he thought that would be cheating :confused3 . Whatever, Dad.

My power is still out in Clarksville, Indiana (Louisville-KY Northern Suburb). We are being told it could be out until Saturday. :scared1:
I've already cleared my fridge & freezer of food items- for trash pick up tomorrow.
Work is my only connection to the outside world & DIS.

i spoke a little too soon. I had power for about 4.5 hours yesterday then suddenly power went off. We are still w/o power. We are currently camped out at my brother's house in Louisville who has power. We did FINALLY see an LG&E truck in the neighborhood scanning the lines so hopefully soon we may have power

If not at least I am going to WDW next weekend..... :cool1: :cool1:

One of my co-workers had power for a couple of hours on Monday, then went back out until Tuesday morning. Apparently, they had to take you back down to fix a line somewhere in your grid. Depending on the number of trees tangled up in the lines will depend on how long you are down.

I have only seen Duke Energy trucks & the trucks of their out of town added help at the area hotels. Though my Dad did say he saw them working on lines in Jeffersonville on Tuesday.
What is frustrating is the Apartments next door to my neighborhood got power back on overnight on Sunday and we are still in the dark. At least I have power at work.

**UPDATE** The power is slowly comming back on as I am Typing this, I just talk to AEP Ohio and the power should be back on today , Most of the area were I live has power again but not me. I hope to get some power soon:thumbsup2

That's some positve news!

Me on the other hand....According to the on-line map, I'm not expected to get it until Saturday. I just spoke to a CSR, and she said it could be anywhere from right now until Sunday. Everyone around our little cul de sac has power except those directly behind us. I pointed out to the CSR that basically there is no ETA if you're only able to say everyone will be back on by Sunday night. ugh!

My parents got their power back on last night. My neighbor stalked a Duke Energy Repair guy and was told our street was way down the list, so I may not have power back on until the weekend. :scared1:

It is frustrating, that all the other houses & apartment buildings around us have power restored except for us (about 40 houses). You would think, they would work an entire area and restore the power to the whole neighborhood, then move to the next area, rather than hop around.

I feel lucky, as things could have been a lot worse though. A house on my parent's street was demolished by a tree that fell through the center of the house.

Still without power in NW Columbus.

I did see a fleet of electric power trucks coming down Rt. 23S this morning. They're from CANADA!!! God love them!

I got power for 30 seconds at 4:30 a.m. this morning, then it went back out. The good news is the Power truck was at the base of my street when I left for Work. So, I should have power when I get home tonight. :cool1: :cool1:
