The Pope is coming.....

Much ado about nothing I think!

I got home fine today and plan on going in each day. DC is used to hosting a lot of events and my office is not in the "path" of road closures. I'll probably have great traffic for the next 2 days!

wow.. ok... I get that people may not be Catholic or even believe in religion... but show some respect. He is a 78 year old man, who is a world leader, as Pope he is also the Head Of State of Vatican City. He has travelled from Italy, to Cuba and now to USA. He is not on vacation , he is working.

Would you show disrespect like that to him if he was not The Pope but just the Head Of State of Vatican City???

I'm at the corner of 15th and I. We get to telework tomorrow, thank goodness since I'm less than two blocks from the White House, and I take the Red Line to Silver Spring right past where the service will be tomorrow at quitting time. But I'll be back in the office on Thursday though. The train sucks on a normal day. I can't imagine the suckage it will be the next couple of days.

A little worked up, are ya? I respect the man. But the next few days getting to and from work is going to be a nightmare. One can respect someone and be annoyed at their commute at the same time. Geeze. My issue is my commute...not WHO he is.

THAT was not obvious from your post!! I understand the disruption to your commute from such a high profile visit. Your post made no mention of a commute or traffic problems. Be clearer and then maybe people wont take offence!!

What are you talking about. I happen to know that wvjules lives in the same area as me and the "much ado about nothing" comment has to do with being in the DC area and "getting out of Dodge." It has nothing to do with minimizing the Pope.

People need some chill around this place today.

Yes, you are in the thick of it. I am in an area (near Nat's Stadium) that won't be affected. As long as they don't close the freeway down, I'm good.

I totally get you. I've been lucky/unlucky enough to be in two different places that the President has spoken. It was a mess for both hours before and after.

I was in NYC the last 6 days and they said there are going to be so many road closures, since the Pope is going to be in almost every section of Manhattan, plus it is United Nations week and the Presidet is coming into town the rest of the week. I cannot image what it is going to be like, can you image what Central Park will be like? I am sure they will have all the entrances blocked off and you will have to go thru security to get in.

The first post made no mention of traffic disruption or problems commuting.

There are so many roads closed in Philadelphia (and leading to Philly) that the Philly public schools are closed Thursday, Friday, AND Monday. The Pope will only be here Saturday and Sunday! Some of the suburbs have already declared states of emergency for fear of the traffic.

If I weren't in dodge I wouldn't need to get out of dodge. :) No one else seemed to be offended either. I think you may need to just relax a bit.

Actually, I think it was more than obvious from her post what she meant. I'm in the Philly area, also in the path of hurricane Francis lol. No ill will intended for the man at all but the chaos that the visit causes is very stressful. The entire city will essentially shut down as of 7pm on Friday night.

I can understand that traffic is going to be a nightmare, If I was closer I'd fight the traffic to see him. I'm not even Catholic.

He is. BEST POPE EVER!!! (At least in my lifetime).

I agree with this. If I didn't hate crowds so much I'd stay tomorrow to try to see him during the parade. It'd be pretty cool. And I'm not even Catholic.
