We just got back from 6 nights at the Pop. We chose the Pop because we wanted to stay at a value and this was the newest one. In the past, we would leave in the morning and return in the evening. However, with the heat and crowds, we found ourselves coming back to the resort more often.
The Good: Friendly CM's, nice gift shop and game room. Three pools to chose from and a decent selection of food. Rooms were also kept at 68. Convenienent to MGM, Epcot, BB, AK, DTD and TL.
The Bad: It's true, you can hear your neighbors and toilets flushing. Luckily, our neighbors weren't loud. If you are poolside, expect to hear noise, especially in the 60's, since it is livelier. We were on the 4th floor of the Lady Building. There were kids in the pool after midnight (closing time), so there were the shreeks coming from horseplay. I called the Front Desk and requested them to enforce "quiet time" and they sent Security. (Of course, why was security already there?)
We could smell cigarette smoke from another room coming through the HVAC.
The Pop-ateria is really loud and is quite busy in the mornings.
The bus queues are not shaded.
Expect to wait a long time for a bus after the MK closes.
Overall, not very positive. Wish we would have ponied up the extra for a mod or delux. At least we did have a rental car and was able to find close parking.
My advice: Stay there during non peak seasons. Have a rental car. Try to get a room that is not on the 1st floor, so you do not get a lot of "walk by noise". Also get a room that has lake view so not to have a parking lot view or pool noise.
