The Poly or AoA for August 2021

We'll be going "home" the beginning of August of this year celebrating my DD's high school graduation and have already booked our stay at the Poly. My concern is that the resort and monorail won't be up and running by that time. We're thinking about switching to AoA and then staying at the Poly when we go back in the summer of 2022. Should we risk it this year or switch?:flower1:

Personally, I'd stay at the WDW Dolphin. Love the pool, the location, walking distance to Epcot and HS, access to skyliner. We walk over and use the bus service at BW. Dolphin runs a great promotion during the summer - can be better than the Moderate pricing. They do add $30 per day convenience fee so factor that into any rate you get. If you book thru the airlines sometimes this is waived. If you're driving there's an additional parking fee.

Since you are celebrating a graduation, what would your DD like? Ultimately its up to you (aka your bank account) but when it doubt, AOA is a great resort!

As a PP had mentioned, what about a Epcot area resort?

She really wants to stay at the Poly, but not if it's still under construction and definitely if the monorail isn't running. My daughter loves AoA suites, so that's her 2nd choice.

IMO I don’t think you really have to make the decision now.

Poly is taking reservations 7/19+, so until we hear otherwise I am going with the assumption things will be mostly up and running. I plan on being there the 19th. :-)

There’s still plenty of time between now and the summer to continue to monitor, keep tabs of things, etc. If we get to summer and things are in a “no way that front entrance/monorail station is done in time” status, then you can adjust/react at that point in time.

Like with most Disney resort projects they’re probably never going to give any actual “end date” so an August trip certainly has some unknowns.... but I’d personally sit tight and watch.

As will I for my 50th birthday trip!!

The fact that they're taking the Contemporary Tower out of commission seems - at least to my mind - to indicate they are fairly confident about the Poly renovations being done on time. I cannot imagine them taking the Contemporary down for a lot of overlapping time and time that extends the overlap if they didn't feel they could open the Poly on time
