Hey everyone!

Do you write your very own poems? Do you like someone else’s poems?
If you like poems, what kind do you prefer? Who's your favorite Poem writer? What kind do you like to write if you do write them?
Want to post your poems or even post ones you love most? Feel free to do so!

For me I’m really starting to love reading poems, why? Because they make me feel better in away, I guess. Some make me happy, some sad, some I don’t even know a word for.
The kinds of poems I love to read? I love reading poems that have a meaning behind them, ones that rhyme sometimes ones that just make you bend your mind a bit and think about what’s being said.
My favorite Poem writer? I'd have to go with Edgar Alan Poe, of course! Do I write poems? No, but I’d love to be able to! I do have one that I found somewhere that I really love though, maybe you will, too?

Tell My Daughter To Hold Her Teddybear.

"you're sixteen!"
her mother screams,
tossing her teddybear across the room.
the tears spilled out of her eyes as the bear almost met its doom.
she thought the seems would break, but the bear softly lands.
she scrams to get it, cradling the fragile fabric in her hands.
"garbage!" her mother snarled, pulling the teddybear out of her grip.
"my memories!" she howled, as she felt her heart rip.
she recalled the first time, seeing that teddy's face.
its velvet ears, and ribbons of lace.
she was about five, when her father sent it to her from the war.
she loved her father as much as a little girl could, maybe even more.
until a message was mailed,
what a sorrowful tale.
he was up on a hill, alone.
a tall flower, she remembered him as, brave and fearless, fully grown.
the shots all rang out, bombs began to explode.
he pulled out his gun, bullet, shoot, reload.
too late, right in his chest, only one breath, he and the ground met.
as his friends crowded around him, his words, they'll never forget,
"tell my daughter to hold her teddybear whenever she thinks of me,"
they swore they would, the girl cried to her mother "don't you see?"
her mother softend, holding the bear,
sitting it on her husbands favorite chair.

Hope you enjoyed that poem I found! I’d really love to see all the ones you like.
Your more than welcome to post ones you’ve written, too. I just love reading poems!
So get going, and post ‘em!

Do you write your very own poems? Sure do. It's required for one of my classes anyways.
Do you like someone else’s poems? I like lots of poems.
If you like poems, what kind do you prefer? Free verse, and definately rhyming. I can't stand non rhyming poems for some reason.
Who's your favorite Poem writer? Shel Silverstein, they're so light and fun.
What kind do you like to write if you do write them? Free Verse...almost all the time. Any subject.

I turn a lot of mine in for contests so I don't want to post them here but I don't really have a favorite. They're all really great!

Do you write your very own poems? Yup. Wrote my first one about four years ago.
Do you like someone else’s poems? Yes.
If you like poems, what kind do you prefer? Any, really. I do prefer ones that rhyme, but it really doesn't matter much to me. Some of the things these people can write are just...amazing.
Who's your favorite Poem writer? I don't really have one. They're all good IMO.
What kind do you like to write if you do write them? I...don't know. I was never really taught how to do any other type of poetry other than haiku's in school so...yeah. I've only written one haiku tho and that poem is actually made up of a bunch of different haikus put together. I'm not going to put it here tho...because it doesn't really follow that whole rule thing about Haikus needing to be about nature. ALTHOUGH! It does go 5-7-5. Took me a while to find the right words...BUT IT DOES! :D
Other than that one tho, the rest rhyme...but I don't really know what specific kind they are. I just wrote them one day...because I was upset and needed SOMETHING to get my feelings out through.

I'll post my most recent. I actually did publish it on this poetry website thing and they do contests too, but I'm too afraid to do those. I honestly don't think I'm ANY WHERE NEAR good enough compaired to some of those other people. They're amazing. ;>_<

The Rose

In the place where darkness grows,
Stands a single, lonely rose.
Its petals lay withered, stem askew
And the soil beneath is covered in dew.

The surrounding trees rise high above,
Absorbing all nutrients, light and love.
To them, the flower is nothing but a pest;
Like a buzzing bee or annoying guest.

Weak, defenseless and full of remorse,
The rose stands still, facing its course;
And as it's life slowly begins to slip,
The trees' branches sway like a dangerous whip.

But just as its life seems at an end,
A loud groan is heard around the bend.
Within an instant, logs hit the ground,
Warmth fills the air and hope is found.

As the days pass, the rose begins to grow
Into a bush as its roots spread below.
Loneliness soon becomes a thing of the past,
As new flowers bloom into a brilliant contrast.
