The Plaza?

I love the plaza for lunch, its so good and really nice to sit in :) been in quite a few times and it will be on my list when i go back.

We love the Plaza and like to go there for lunch. The sandwiches and desserts (brownie sundae!) are delicious :)

Love the Plaza...walked up, got a table in 5 min!:thumbsup2 Great food too!

Exactly our experience! And they let us stick around until a downpour passed over.

We paid OOP, as we had used 2 table credits at Jiko and thought it was reasonable.

Enjoy!

The Plaza will never be crazy popular because it's a bad deal on the dining plan. Having said that, it's a great place for an oop meal or anyone not on a plan. We ate there before MVMCP and ate for about $17 each. The reuben was great and the fries are the best on property.

A lot of people have this opinion and I disagree.
$ for $ it may not be the most "economical" way to use a credit, but...
The sandwiches are fabulous ( I agree the reuben was excellent), the steak fries are crispy and hot, and the deserts are crazy yummy.
I felt it was a much more valuable use of my TS credit than the one we used at Tony's. The bill at Tony's was more, but the food and service were terrible.
I guess it depends on what your defination is of a good/bad deal is using a TS credit.

The Plaza is our special place where our family has an early dinner before attending MVMCP. We've had good service and yummy sandwiches/burgers all 3 times over the years. DH is bummed that they removed the German potato salad from the menu, but he still loves the place...I might try that salad next time...

I totally agree with you, but so many people are only looking to get the "most bang for their buck" out of the dining plan. Even when it's free. :lmao:

I go to the restaurants I prefer, and order what I want even if it's the cheapest item in the least expensive restaurant on property. If it's what I like, then it's a great deal.

Well said. I would rather use my credit for a $50 meal that I love, than a $100 meal that I didn't love.

We thought both the food and service at The Plaza were terrible. This is the one TS restaurant that DH and I will never go back to.

Let me explain why I said I don't feel it's a good use of a dining credit (FD or not). On the dining plan you get x amount of TS credits. We normally want to use more TS credits than we have. So we choose to pay out of pocket for the least expensive one, which happens to be The Plaza. And The Plaza is one that we definitely want to eat at. Has nothing to do with the quality or the quantity of the food but totally to do with price. This is what works for our family, but maybe not for everyone.

Oh, and having two boys 20 and 18, we do use all our CS credits too. They normally want to eat again on EMH nights. So it all works out.

Same here - this past November, the only discount we could get was Free Dining, and it was our first time using the DDP. Since our DD was 10, it was a pretty good savings. We had 2 dinners that were signature, so 2 dinners had to be OOP - one night we ate around the F&WF, and of all our 1 TS credit ADR's, we picked the Plaza to be OOP because it was the least expensive dinner. It just makes sense economically. DH loves the place, as I posted previously, and it worked out well for us.

We were just there two weeks ago, and they had a meatloaf special (not on the normal menu), with mashed potatoes and corn. The potatoes were smothered with a little too much gravy (I'm not a big gravy person); but otherwise, a really nice "homey" meal, loved it. My wife got the cheese steak, and that was really good as well. Would definitely recommend.

As PPs have commented, it is very economical; that is why we made ressies there on 5/20 for a late dinner. Now I know the food is great, I am so excited! I feel like we made a great choice that we'll enjoy. Thanks DISers! :worship:

I agree with the poster who wrote that The Plaza is a bad value on the dining plan. It is essentially a glorified counter service location posing as a table service restaurant. The dining plan only becomes a worthwhile value if guests choose expensive dishes and fancier restaurants. Places like The Plaza ensure Disney makes a hefty profit off the deal.

But none of that is a criticism of the restaurant. Actually, The Plaza is easily my favorite restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. The food is relatively simple, but everything is tasty, and I enjoy the quaint atmosphere. I particularly like the vegetarian sandwich, capped with one of those wonderful ice cream treats.

I am a person who gets the DxDp. We eat our meals in a nice air-conditioned TS restaurants and feel refreshed to go back out to the park. I am not concerned about if I got the "value" out of the DxDP. I like knowing that all my meals and snacks are paid for upfront and I do not have to worry about money the entire trip. I say all that to say that the Plaza is a great value to me because I can eat on Main Street, have something I like, and get back to the parks. I would rather eat something cheaper that I like, where I like, than to travel half-way across WDW to get my money out of my plan. I do get the money out of my plan with the lack of stress!!!! Hope this helps. It is just my opinion, so please do not flame me!:goodvibes

The Plaza will be perfect for you. It is a lighter meal. The food is good and it gets you in the MK! For me my vacation doesn't start until I get up close to the Castle.

It's so fun to sit in air conditioning noshing on french fries and watching the hot sweaty crowds.

As some of us advised earlier in the thread, when you're on the DDP, it's best to pay OOP for the Plaza since it's a more economical meal. I wouldn't, however, call it a glorified CS location...it's just less expensive than many other TS restaurants. Like you, we also enjoy eating there.

Do any of the unsatisfied customer want to explain why they had such terrible food and service? I've never eaten there, but do want to for next time. Think it looks cute.

I didn't read through, so please excuse me if someone already said this...

If you like soup, get the Tomato Bisque...it is awesome!
I also like the tuna sandwich, the chicken sandwich and the steak sub. The strawberry salad is great too!! I think that they have the homemade potato chips now available as well (no more sweet potato chips :sad1:). All of the desserts, including the milkshakes are wonderful!
