I just found out about The Plaza Restaurant and it looks like a nice place to take a break during the day. Do you really need ADRs there? We are going in the second half of June. I just hate filling up everyday with ADRs 6 months ahead of time. It seems like the kind of casual place you should be able to walk up and sit down. But I'm finding out you can't really do that at WDW. Any thoughts about this place? Is it worth bothering with an ADR?

IMO, you will definitely want an ADR. The Plaza is very popular and quite small.

We really enjoyed eating at the Plaza, they have great sandwiches and desserts. Also if you get a table by the window you have nice view of the castle. As with any TS restaurant in MK you might be able to just walk up without a reservation but you would probably have to wait awhile to get a table, especially in the summer. It is a fun place to eat though and not much more than a CS location.

It was a good place to watch the 3 o'clock parade but the food wasn't very good. We made reservations on the day we arrived, but they weren't accepting walk-ups.

Ate there in May and November. Definitely get a reservation; both times, while we waited for a table, people walking up were turned away.

On many trips I have never seen the Plaza take walk ups. It is a great place to have a nice simple meal out of the heat with prices only slightly more than counter service.

You will need adrs. Every single time we have gone (July, October, November , May ) be it for lunch or dinner they are turning people away. It's small and yummy so they are in high demand.

Yes, every time we have gone, we see them turning people away. It's kind of small inside and fills quickly.

Other MK choices I have found are BOG lunch (we will do this one), Sleepy Hallow for a waffle sandwich, Pecos Bill, and Cosmic Rays. Plaza was the only TS that sort of stood out to me. I'm finding the restaurant research the hardest part of planning our WDW trip. :scared:

That's always difficult for me, too. :)

We really enjoy the Plaza -- it's cool and calm, and the food isn't too heavy -- but I also have my eye on those waffle sandwiches!

I would definitely make an ADR!

I'm still trying to decide if we should go there before MVMCP instead of eating at Capt. Cook's but now i'm wondering if they would even have any ADRs still left.

We had a 1:00 p.m. ADR at the Plaza in early August. Many, many people came to the podium while we were checking in hoping to get seated. They were told the earliest they could get in was 8:30 - 9:00 p.m. We got a table by the window with a view of the castle. Our server was very friendly and the food was good. We've been there twice now and will definitely return on future trips. It's a nice, quiet, air-conditioned break from MK.

We eat at the Plaza every trip (we go every year - usually 1st week of December). The food is plentiful (husband and I always split one meal) and very good! We always have an ADR.

I've been trying to get reservations for our trip in February, but seems there aren't any reservations available after Feb 15 (we arrive on the 21st). Good luck....

Yes, this. We love The Plaza and go twice each trip and we always hear them turning ppl away...and we go during a slower time of the year.

Ah, I recognize you from the Disneyland boards! Is this your first time going to WDW? Yes, the dining is quite different and so hard to plan so far in advance (a little annoying really). We just ate here 2 nights ago and they were only accepting reservations for the whole night. We thought the food was good, the milk shakes were delicious and we wished we had split one because it was the kind where they bring you out the milk shake and the extra container that they mixed it in that is the same size as your first milkshake! We were stuffed adn couldn't finish it all.

Another good option (for counter service) is the Columbia Harbor house, we have loved their veggie sandwich and have eaten it twice this trip already.

Enjoy your planning!
