Couldn't wait to share our excitement! I was able to get tickets to the Producers with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane and use our first points ever not at WDW! We took the plunge and splurged to use points at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. It will be an adults trip only:love2: Can't wait ! Anyone have any suggestions about dinner either at the Plaza or in the area? Also, any thoughts on the rooms themselves? Thanks!

I don't have any advice but just wanted to say WOW! Congratulations on what should be a great trip.

This is exactly what we did last year when we got preview tickets for Hairspray.

There are certain rooms that are available for DVC members. I don't remember what the restrictions were, but I believe it was mostly in regard to the view. We had a view of the side street, which was fine with us. The room itself was what we cared about, and it was incredible.

There are a bazillion restaurants to choose from in the theatre district. What's nice about the Plaza is that they have a staff there to assist you.

Have a great time!

Eat at Carmines, great, great Italian food, huge family style portions. The restaurant is right across from the Producer's Theater. They only take reservations after 6pm for six or more people, we went in last year for our anniversary, had resevies for 5:30pm (for 2), which gave us plenty of time to eat and head over to the theater, Did I mention they have great food!

And the play is phenominal as well!

Enjoy!!

Hi.

Are you sure Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick are in the show? They left some time ago...Just don't want you to be disappointed.

Do go to Carmine's. It is good. You got lucky on Brod. and Lane. THey were off when saw the Producers. And Harvey Firestein was not in Hairspray at that time either. But they were still great shows.

I am pretty sure that Carmine's is the Carmine of the L & S show. At least that is what I was told. But I could be wrong. Could be those city slickers pulling a fast one on us down south folks.

Fred Appelgate and Donald Stephanson are the main stars in Producers right now. Matt. B and Lane return to the stage on Dec. 30 through April 4

They are coming back for a very limited engagement. Tickets sold like hotcakes on Sunday. Skorpie is very, very lucky to have gotten a pair! Congratulations and have a wonderful trip. Couldn't have planned it more perfectly myself. ;)

You are one of the lucky ones! We saw the long lines for these tickets on the local news this past weekend!

You did not state how long you will be staying in NYC. You may want to eat in the theater district the night of the show at Carmine's, or you may want to try the View at the Marriott (up high, rotating restaurant-you may prefer to go after the show for a drink). For seafood, there is Fulton's at the Reinassance Hotel in Times Square. For something a little more quiet/romantic, you may want to try Above at the Hilton at Times Square.

If you are going to be in the city for more than one night, you may want to go to Carmine's or another popular restaurant the first night and try something romantic in another part of the city another night. Having lived in the West Village, I am partial to "One if By Land . . ." It is very romantic in my opinion (with an excellent chocolate souffle dessert).

You may want to spend some time at www.newyork.citysearch.com to check out the many restaurants and you can search by location. I do not have a subscription to Zagat's, but they do have a website www.zagat.com that also lists restaurants and reviews. You may want to check that out as well.

Hope this helps! Have a great time!

Hi.

Sardi's never disappoints. There's no place like it in the theatre district. Great place to people watch. Ask to sit upstairs.

i was thinking of doin' the same thing but i don't have my book with me.can someone tell me the points breakdown for rooms(i see they have some beautiful ones there!).i would be looking at 2-3 nights but not on a weekend.thanks

The Plaza is the same price all week. It is different by time of year. For January-April 15 and June 26-Sept. 6 the Fairmont is 49 points and the Fairmont Deluxe is 63 points (the only two choices). April 16-June 25 it's 53/66 and Sept. 27-Nov. 25 and Dec. 19-31 it's 65/74 and for Nov. 26-Dec. 18 it's 87/94. These are the 2004 points. Remember, there is also a $95 booking fee for Concierge Collection.

Congratulations on scoring tickets for the Producers. We are going up for Thanksgiving and staying at the Shelburne Murray Hill hotel on points. We plan on seeing the parade and we have tickets for the Lion King for Friday night.

We will only be there the one night. We're going Feb. 15-16. I realize we were lucky to get the tickets! At the time I called they were only selling single tickets but the girl managed to find 2 tickets, center orchestra! We will be sitting in two different rows (rows 15 and 16) but directly behind one another! I feel fortunate to have gotten them.
This Carmine's sounds good. We'll be going after the matinee, so it will have to be around 6PM. I just hope we can get in! Thanks for your replies!
I am especially thrilled to stay at the Plaza. I can't wait to see the hotel!

Sounds like a great night, we live close enough that I would love to do this!!! My question is using points, how do you know what kind of room you are getting and if its really worth it? I just went to Orbitz.com and found rates from $269.00 - $1590.00
and some include breakfast, so how do you find out the type of room you are going to get and compare it to the rate?

This is really a splurge on our part. I know it is a LOT of $$ (points) but parat of the reason I'm doing this is to show DH the advantages of owning our DVC. He's started to complain that he's tired of WDW, so when the tickets fell into place, I decided that at least this once, we'll splurge! We'll manage if it's room only!

You too? I scored tickets for March 20 and had to do the same thing, two different rows, but Row 3 and 4 center orchestra, directly behind each other!! Whooooo!! I had front row mezzanine for this show back over the Thansgiving holiday in 2001 and we ended up not getting to go due to 9/11 and work restrictions. Anyway, I'm seriously thinking of using points for our hotel stay too!! I love DVC!!

Carmines is a great place ...my old favorite Johnny's is closed after 40+ years
